Apocalypse Tyrant

Chapter 36 - King of the Library (1)

King of the Library (1)

The bright flashlight illuminated areas where sunlight couldn’t penetrate.

Rows of reading desks densely arranged in regular patterns.

The students’ study spaces with white partitions were full of traces from that day.

Thick textbooks and writing utensils still placed on desks.

Laptops left open and loose sheets of paper scattered all over the floor.

And the all too familiar traces of blood.

I slowly scanned the 5th floor graduate student reading room that had literally been struck by disaster while studying.

Clang—!

Then a loud noise echoing from the iron pipe lightly striking a white partition.

“Kieeeeek—!”

It was bait that zombies couldn’t help but react to.

A zombie approaching while shaking its body madly from a bit far away.

It was a female zombie with her chest full of wounds clearly exposed as her top was torn like rags.

“Kieeeeek—!”

The female zombie letting out a roar of joy seeing us waiting plainly in front.

It was just one zombie, nothing particularly special.

It was strange that her hair was neatly tied up even though she was such a mess otherwise.

Her chest moving so large it was almost ugly naturally made me frown, but oddly I couldn’t take my eyes off this zombie.

It was just one zombie that would collapse if I struck its head—

“Hiiieek—!”

But it didn’t seem that way to those in front of me now.

“You’ll die by my hand if you run away.”

Their backs trembled more violently at my warning to their already shaking backs.

“Raise shields.”

I frowned at the appearance of them raising table shields while trembling unsteadily in the sloppiest way possible.

Even Park Woojin and Kim Minjun weren’t this bad.

To think the day would come when I’d miss those two minion bastards, the world really was ending.

To still be trembling like that even after repeated zombie hunts.

It seemed they needed another mental reconditioning after killing this zombie.

I looked around at the 4 new search team members and said.

“Anyone who catches my eye this time, be really prepared.”

The search team members trembling pathetically, not living up to their large builds, at the continued warnings.

I had selected guys with decent physiques but this was the result.

“Kieeeeek—!”

I glanced to the side while looking at the zombie bastard that had now almost approached.

The bear-like body quietly keeping his position beside me.

It was Park Taeha, designated as the leader of this new search team.

Park Taeha quietly waiting for my orders while holding a monkey wrench already dripping dark red blood.

He was already exempt at my side after receiving sufficient inspection.

No, it would be more accurate to say I temporarily put him aside for the other members since he had taken care of most of the zombies that rushed at us so far.

“Kieeeeek—!”

The faces of the prey filling the zombie’s broken pupils.

It shook its head greedily as if unable to hold back at that sight and spread both arms wide.

Thanks to that, the grotesque chest full of wounds came into view more clearly.

“Uuuuh—!”

Groans burst out as if unable to endure.

Boom—!

The sound of collision between the sloppily held out shields and the zombie.

The defense line that had been maintaining some balance shook from the violent charge that paid no attention to deceleration.

The defense line stumbling backwards and the single shield that uniquely maintained the line.

“Kieeeeeeek—!”
“Uuuuuuuuh—!”

No, it would be more accurate to say his legs had frozen rather than maintaining it.

The search team member and zombie entering a test of strength at a distance where they could now feel each other’s breaths.

The zombie’s hands waving wildly constantly struck the search team member’s face.

“Uuuuuuh—!”

Perhaps because of that, the elbows and shield gradually bent inwards.

“Kieeeeek—!”

The terrifying madness and obsession with only appetite left desperately pushed away the shield blocking it and—

Crunch—!

Finally obtained the flesh of the desired prey.

“Kuaaaaaaah—!”

The zombie’s predation embracing the search team member’s body tightly including the shield.

The search team member was obediently offering his neck to the zombie while flapping his whole body like a live fish.

“…Hah.”

I let out a snort at the shit show starting again like deja vu and gestured to Park Taeha with my eyes.

Splat—!

The monkey wrench striking the head of the zombie latched onto the search team member’s neck immediately at my eye signal.

I pushed aside those blankly staring at the search team member pinned to the floor with the zombie corpse and walked forward.

“Kueok—! Kueoook—!”

The zombie corpse pinning the search team member’s body also started flailing at the convulsions starting like a precursor.

Thud—!

I threw aside the zombie corpse pinning the search team member and looked down at him.

“Hey.”
“Kueouk—! Kueouk—!”

Slap—!

“Kueok—! Kueoook—!”

The search team member twisting his body grotesquely despite my call and palm striking with a bit of force.

I slowly extended my right hand to his infected area while scanning the white bandage tied on his left arm.

Wooong—!

A brilliant golden light filling my hand along with the activation sound becoming clearer.

The light suddenly brightening the somewhat dark 5th floor reading room slowly seeped into the search team member’s neck.

“Kueoook—! Kueooook—”

The black part gradually came down in the search team member’s eyes that had been only whites.

“Kueo— Haa— Heok—! Heok—!”

Then he laid his grotesquely twisting body back on the floor and breathed rapidly.

I nodded while looking at the search team member who had returned to human just before becoming a zombie and went back to my original position.

That search team member bitten twice today, and infection nullified twice using ‘Partial Incapacity’.

Thanks to him, the doubt of whether my ‘Partial Incapacity’ only cured infection once was naturally resolved.

I had been a bit worried since human immunity is so mysterious, but it seemed my Partial Incapacity was still effective regardless of the number of times as long as it was before becoming a zombie.

“Stop whining and get up.”
“Haak— Ha— Ye-Yessir—!”

The search team member standing up from the floor as if burned at my low pronouncement.

He was still slowly scanning his own body with eyes that couldn’t believe it despite being a living witness who experienced my Partial Incapacity twice.

And the eyes of others watching him were the same.

The search team members watching the unbelievable miracle with eyes widened as if about to tear.

The truth that no matter what you do, you’ll eventually become a zombie just like the biting zombie if bitten.

As if unable to believe that absolute truth was so easily shattered by my hand.

“Hey.”
“……”
“Haah—.”
“Uh, ye-yessir—!”

The bastard who had lost his mind like an idiot urgently raised his voice at the sound of my sigh.

I slightly bowed my head at the headache-inducing annoyance and irritably scratched my forehead several times.

Teaching someone from scratch was a task that consumed quite a lot of mental energy.

Especially now when the only middle management of the organization were Ko Janghun and the two minions.

But if I sent up those two minions with this newborn search team, that would be no different from quick delivering prey to the zombies.

It was good that Park Taeha was more useful than I thought, but besides that, everything was really the worst.

But I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.

Ding—!

[‘Park Taeha’ has killed a zombie.]

[Tribute of Obedience]

[You have acquired 1 point.]

This unfamiliar status window message outputting before my eyes now.

Tribute generated each time those obedient to me kill zombies.

In other words, since realizing there was a Tribute of Obedience, even more so.

I don’t know how much I rejoiced when I first read this sudden status window message after Park Taeha killed a zombie on his own.

I was even more surprised since I had been somewhat obsessively killing all zombies myself until then.

This was a revolution in point farming.

Simply put, it meant I had obtained many accounts to gather points together.

Anyone who has played games would know the destructive power of the word ‘multi-account’.

The optimal state to mass produce so-called ‘point sweatshops’ just for me.

I thought I may have just discovered the most powerful advantage of the so-called ‘Tyrant’—

So I tried to properly utilize that advantage but.

“Haah—”

I barely swallowed the curse trying to burst out of my mouth even at the moment of skill level up.

The points needed to achieve level 5 for one skill was exactly 100 points.

A fucking system where the points required for level up increased by 10 points each time the skill level increased by 1.

It was literally pouring all the points I had obtained by working my ass off sweeping the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the library into that skill.

So I tightly clenched my hand that was trembling slightly as if I had hand tremors.

I thought I would use the remaining points in the right place from now on, and was using them that way, but my mind was dizzy perhaps because it was the first time consuming three-digit points.

Deductive Domination.

It was a new skill unlocked thanks to the explosive rise in Royal Authority while making all the survivors of the library camp kneel.

As expected, an exclusive skill unlocked by achieving ‘Royal Authority 50’.

[Deductive Domination Lv.1]
[But whether they like it or not, you are their king.]

[All your actions very slightly induce positive elements for obedience.]

It was just the skill needed for this situation.

Things were proceeding quite smoothly according to the situation I designed, but I didn’t overestimate the effect.

Of course, not all those who knelt at that time were obedient to me.

There must have been those who knelt swept up in the atmosphere, overwhelmed by mob psychology.

So there was no reason not to invest points in the new exclusive skill that seemed to provide benefits for increasing the degree of obedience.

[Deductive Domination Lv.3]

I clearly didn’t plan to all-in on this skill at first either.

I was going to just get it to level 3 and save up points again but—

Ding—!

[Tip: ‘2’ levels remain until your exclusive skill can choose specialization. (This notification will only be maintained until you select your first specialization skill.)]

Seeing the unfamiliar message again.

The element of specialization that the system notified for the first time was quite an appealing element.

It looked roughly like ‘skill enhancement’ or ‘skill evolution’ so even more so.

So I focused on the status window message popping up.

I had to absolutely get benefits from the new element I poured my precious points into.

Ding—!

[The first specialization for your exclusive skill is unlocked by achieving the target skill level.]

[Choose the specialization for the Tyrant exclusive skill ‘Deductive Domination’.]

[1. Tyrant on a White Horse]
[All your actions induce positive elements more effectively especially towards women. Also, you become able to grasp the underlying psychology that induces positive factors in women.]

[2. Equal Tyranny for All]
[All your actions induce positive elements more effectively for everyone’s obedience.]
