Apocalypse: Transmigrated General’s Daughter Uses Space to Survive

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: The Apocalypse Begins (1)

While they were talking Ye Xuan looked out the window and was astonished by the bright red sky outside. It was supposed to be a full moon tonight, but looking at the moon that was as red as blood, he knew that whatever was expected had arrived.

Upon closer look, he realized that there was a grey fog in the air. If one did not focus, they would not notice it immediately.

The others saw him distracted and followed his sight, looking out the window. When they saw the red moon and fog they stood up abruptly.

"What in God's name is that?" Lei Ying was the first to lose his composure.

But no one answered him. Everyone was asking themselves the same question.

"Lock the windows and seal other ventilation spaces. Make sure no more of that fog gets into the house." Ye Xuan instructed as he got up to help.

Because the weather had become hotter than normal summer recently, many people left their windows open even at night.

As such, some of the fog had already seeped into the houses before people noticed the changes in the atmosphere. Even the most prepared Chu family was the same.

But they noticed the problem almost at the same time as Ye Xuan and sealed the windows and ventilation.

"I guess it has finally begun." Grandpa Chu muttered as he focused on the red moon outside the now closed window.

Father Chu heaved a sigh of relief and said, "At least we won't be on edge all the time. We can just fight whatever comes instead of wondering what will happen and when it will happen."

Indeed, even though the family acted composed as they stockpiled supplies, they had been too tense the last month.

Now that the apocalypse has finally started, they felt as if a burden had been lifted off their shoulders, but they also knew that their fight for survival has begun."

"Let's stay awake tonight and not go into the space to cultivate. We don't know what effect this fog has. So, it's better to observe."

"Okay sweetheart, why don't we prepare dumplings while we wait? We can do it while watching the news to understand how the government is dealing with the situation."

"Okay, mom. We can make dumplings with different fillings and cook them later."

After the decision was made, the family sat together in the living room to make dumplings. They had a lot of ingredients and decided to make pork and beef dumplings."

Chu Miao occasionally picked up her phone to check what people were saying on the internet, and to her surprise, only three hours after the red moon and fog appeared, there were already some disturbing images and videos circulating around.

Seeing her so engrossed in her phone and even forgetting to wrap dumplings, Grandpa Chu asked, "What is so interesting that you lost yourself, Bunny?"

"Things are not going well. There are pictures and videos of people turning into zombies on the internet. Some people are saying that it's those with a dark sense of humor using AI to make these images, but am guessing they are real."

"Zombies? I know the apocalypse is usually associated with zombies but I never thought they would be real. And in the first few hours of the end of the world, zombies have already appeared, how is humanity going to survive?" Mother Chu felt rather frustrated.

Even though everyone at home had been talking about the apocalypse and preparing, she was still in denial and hoped that it was a mistake. But now she couldn't lie to herself anymore.

"People are reporting mass fever, and many are rushing to the hospital, while others feel that it's risky to leave the house at this moment, so they are using fever-reducing medicine at home."

"Those who decided to wait it out at home are clever. Right now, everything is unknown, and leaving the house recklessly is idiotic." Grandpa Chu really wanted to find those people running to the hospital and crack their heads open to see what was inside.

With such chaotic events happening, how could one venture outside without any thoughts?

"It is human nature. Even if those people know that something is wrong, they are still in denial and refuse to believe that the peaceful world they know is shattering. They believe that if they do something that they usually do, like going to the hospital when sick, it will erase the nightmare."

With a frown on his face, Father Chu gave his opinion, and everyone knew that he was right. Many people just don't want to accept reality and delusion themselves.

But this kind of mentality will get a lot of them killed and increase the zombie population.

"'A world where the sky burns red' another part of the prophecy has been fulfilled. It looks like there's no avoiding what is to come."

"Now that you mention it, it looks like the prophecy is really being fulfilled step-by-step." Chu Hao muttered as he placed the dumpling he had just wrapped in a tray.

"Seeing the prophecy fulfilled this way also gives us hope. We know from the prophecy that with Bunny, we can fight for survival. In that case, humanity has a chance of winning against whatever monstrosities the apocalypse brings." Said Grandpa Chu with eyes filled with hope.

"I hope I live long enough to see that day, but I am already an old bag of bones." He added.

"Father/grandpa!!!" No one likes to hear such words. Especially when a new threat to humanity has just appeared.

"Don't worry about being old. As cultivators, our life span extends the stronger we become. Now, Grandpa and Second Grandpa no longer suffer from old injuries, and because of cultivation, they are even healthier and stronger than most people younger than them.

As they become stronger their lifespan increases. If they make it to the foundation and establish their foundation, their appearance will also change and become younger. They will look about fifty years old.

If they keep working hard and reach the golden core formation and transcend the heavenly tribulation, they will become stronger their lifespan will extend to five hundred years old, and they will look about thirty years old.

So, Grandpa, don't talk about not seeing the new dawn and cultivate diligently. Since there are zombies, it means we will have to fight. The zombies are moving slowly now and are no challenge or useful for growth, but I have a feeling that they will evolve and get stronger.

In that case, we can all go to battle when necessary. The best way to advance our cultivation is in battle. Fighting life-and-death battles provides opportunities to advance. So, let's take advantage of that."
