Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Taking Account of the Hoarding
"That's a good idea, sweetheart; when the apocalypse starts, we won't be able to taste these delicacies again. If we can have them even after years, why not? Now that you've mentioned it, I think I will also have the servants at home prepare as many dishes every day as possible.
Your father and I decided to let the servants go home about ten days before the apocalypse. This way, the cases reported and the weather would have changed to noticeable degrees by everyone and we would have an excuse to caution them.
This way they will have time to get home and stockpile supplies."
"That's an excellent idea. We have the truck, and we can have them load the food in the truck every morning when we go out to shop, and I can put it in the space while still hot. We can just tell them you are sending the food to homeless shelters."
"Then I will order two hundred portions of every signature dish they have to be picked up in two days. That way they have time to prepare the freshest ingredients."
"We can go to Pearl City when we have stockpiled most of what we need to get fresh seafood, too."
"Yes, and since you love hot pot, it will be great to get the hotpot base from that small restaurant you've the talking about. It will save us during winter."
"Yeah, that restaurant has the best hotpot in this city, and their sauces are heavenly. I don't know how they make them, but I will go there in a few days to order."
"Alright Bunny, let's get going if you are done eating. We bought a lot of stuff which won't all fit in the truck. We'll have to make a few trips and by the time we are done, it'll be dark. I'll go order those dishes." Chu Miao's mother stated as she stood up and headed to the manager's office.
She was not as famous as a celebrity but many people in this city knew her. After all, her husband is a successful, wealthy businessman, her father-in-law is a well-known retired general, and she attended a lot of charity events and donated a lot of stuff.
When the manager heard her request, he agreed immediately and asked her to come pick up all the dishes in two days.
When they walked out of the mall, their truck was full of summer clothes.
They needed to drive and find a secluded place to transfer the things into the space ring before coming back for the winter clothes and other things they bought. They found a small secluded park about half an hour's drive from the mall and transferred everything into the space.
After making four trips, it was already getting dark, but fortunately, everything was secure,e, and they could go buy other things tomorrow. So, they drove the truck back home.
When they got home, it was almost time for dinner. After dinner, they met again in the study room to take stock of what they bought and what remained.
"Bunny and I bought clothes for all types of weather and some survival gear, including tents, hiking boots, raincoats, hailstorm helmets, and bugproof clothes.
But I know father and uncle can't wear most of the clothes styles we bought today since most are sportswear and combat clothes. So, we still need to go to the shops that sell traditional Chinese clothes tomorrow to some for them." Mother Chu broke the silence and reported what she and Chu Miao had accomplished.
"Okay, that's good, but remember to look for the constant temperature suits that have been researched recently. It is not widely known since only the military has had the opportunity to test them, but I think with your connections in the fashion industry, you will get a few sets."
"Alright father, I will call a friend I know before going to bed."
"I managed to secure five military-grade humvees. They are fairly new and only got decommissioned because the manufacturer layered three ballistic glasses instead of five in the windows. I had them taken to the car dealership that takes care of military vehicles for modification and, later, three more ballistic glasses.
I also asked them to add tampered glass and change the tires to bulletproof and shockproof ones. They will be ready for pickup in two weeks."
"I also managed to acquire a small fighter jet. It's in good condition, but fuel is going to be challenging to get, so Chu Hao, you must work harder."
"Okay, Grandpa, I managed to order a thousand gallons of gasoline from a friend, and I am sourcing for more. I also secured one thousand Glock 19 handguns and two hundred boxes of ammunition.
I have contacted another person to get me semi-machine guns, machine guns, and more ammo, but it will take a while. He said he needs at least a week as the security in our country is too tight."
"A week is fine, don't forget to get a few grenade launchers and hand-held grenades. What about cold weapons?" Grandpa Chu asked.
Chu Miao raised her small hand and said, "Mom and I bought a good number of survival knives, but I think we can add military daggers as they are easier to use in close combat. However, if we are talking about swords, I don't think any sword in the modern world can beat those from ancient times and I have a lot of those.
I have long swords, short swords, soft swords, sabers, and heavy swords. I even have several crossbows and spears. I harvested quite a few spoils of war."
"Most of them are at least mystic weapons and there are a few spiritual ones. These are sturdier than regular iron and steel and can cut metal like mud."
"Then forget about the cold weapons. Bunny, do you have daggers in your collection of spoils of war? That way we won't need to buy military daggers."
"Yes, and honestly most of those daggers look like military daggers anyway."
"Then weapons are settled. Chu Mo, how is everything on your end?"
