Chapter 264: The Taste of Dad
Liu Yuanbing spoke firmly, his tone leaving no room for disagreement.
"No... I don't want to stay here and wait to die. I want to evacuate too."
Liu Yu, with a terrified expression, shook his head, but Liu Yuanbing forcefully locked him inside the building and ordered him not to come out until instructed.
On the front lines, the sounds of gunfire and artillery explosions continued incessantly, casting a brightness in the night sky akin to daylight.
Like a tide, waves of zombies continued to pour in, opening several breaches in the defense lines of the military district. If it weren't for some soldiers risking their lives to desperately block them, the defenses would have likely collapsed long ago.
Several kilometers away from the battlefield, on an open space, a white-clad zombie girl's dress fluttered as she gazed at the group of transport planes overhead.
With a roar from her, groups of zombie birds rose from the ground, flocking to the sky and flying towards the transport planes.
In the distance, more flocks of zombie birds were also flying towards this direction, nearly obscuring the sky.
The whooshing sound of the bird flock suddenly alarmed the group of transport planes. Liu Wanting turned sharply from her seat, only to find that Lisa and the others were already looking gravely at the approaching zombie birds.
"Weird, with Little Jin, the Zombie Bird King here, why are these bird flocks still attacking us recklessly?"
Judy looked puzzled at the incoming bird groups.
"I don't know. Let's not waste time and take action. If any of the transport planes are damaged, it will be troublesome."
Lisa opened the cabin door and, together with Judy, jumped out directly. The two instantly stood in mid-air, transforming into lightning, and charged towards the oncoming flock of menacing birds.
Liu Wanting looked at Lisa and the others with a somewhat complex expression, her eyes carrying a hint of envy and an involuntary yearning. In the past, when the military's aircraft encountered these zombie birds, they were essentially left with no choice but to evade. Only fighter jets barely had some ability to counterattack, while other aircraft, once facing bird swarms, usually ended up crashing due to suicidal attacks. Therefore, after the apocalypse, the military rarely sent aircraft into the air, let alone in such large-scale transport fleets as in this case.
However, the zombie bird swarms that used to leave the military helpless seemed like mere lambs to be slaughtered in front of Lisa and her group. Under the night sky, before Lisa and Judy could take action, Little Jin, flying alongside the transport fleet, seemed somewhat angered. With a Zombie Bird King present, these birds dared to initiate attacks, which offended her sense of pride.
After a roar from the golden eagle, the airflow it expelled turned into shockwaves, killing group after group of zombie birds before crashing to the ground. Unsatisfied with this, Little Jin, observing the continuing incoming bird swarm, seemed further provoked. With a flap of its wings at lightning speed, it soared through the air and collided with the approaching zombie bird groups.
Some female warriors on Little Jin's back were taken aback by this recklessness. Seeing the overwhelming bird swarm not far away, they dared not be negligent, directly waving the long knives in their hands, and waves of blade energy rose into the sky.
Sharp blade energy cut through the bodies of the zombie birds, splitting them in half, blood splattering across the sky. In an instant, a large portion of the bird swarm was cleared.
Lisa and Judy, watching the scattered bird swarm disrupted by Little Jin, exchanged smiles. Simultaneously, the two acted, and in an instant, the sky was filled with dense lightning, gathering together like a divine force.
Crackling...
In an instant, the vast expanse of lightning in the sky descended, accurately hitting the zombie bird swarm. The rapid currents traversed from one zombie bird to another, quickly connecting and linking a large portion of them.
Following that were a series of explosive sounds, and countless zombie bird bodies shattered and fell under the continuous barrage of lightning. Soon, the bird swarm was thoroughly cleaned up.
There was no need for Lisa and Judy to take action on the remaining ones. Little Jin merely waved its wings, and two tornadoes shredded and tore apart the last remnants of the bird group, completing the elimination.
Below, the white-clad zombie girl watched this scene, her pupils contracting. She had noticed the bird king earlier and had initially considered dealing with it herself. However, suddenly, two individuals appeared in the sky, and the subsequent lightning display left her bewildered. She even sensed a familiar taste.
Without much time to think, the zombie girl didn't want the military personnel to escape smoothly. She grabbed a fallen power pole nearby, effortlessly lifted it, and threw it towards the sky.
Following this, the girl swiftly moved, appearing on the rooftop of a tall building. With a powerful leap, blood-red claws emerged, reaching out towards Lisa and Judy suspended in mid-air.
Even before the girl threw the power pole, Lisa and Judy had already noticed. Judy intervened directly, smashing the swiftly approaching power pole. Meanwhile, Lisa remained composed, swiftly extending her fist and clashing with the zombie girl's claws. Both took several steps back, and the zombie girl's feet produced a burst of blood-red energy, allowing her to remain suspended in mid-air.
A deafening clash of gold and iron resounded in the air, the piercing sound waves causing the female soldiers inside the transport plane to cover their ears. The entire fleet of transport planes also shook for a moment.
Judy kicked the incoming power pole into pieces, then turned around, standing in mid-air alongside Lisa, surrounding the white-clad zombie girl from both sides.
"Is that the zombie king?" Mu Ling looked at the three figures in the air outside the cabin, expressing a slight surprise.
Liu Wanting, on the other hand, wore a somewhat anxious expression. They had endured enough hardships caused by this zombie king during this period, and the entire military district was now in a precarious situation.
"Will those two be okay..." Liu Wanting watched as Lisa and the others drifted further away from the helicopter. Although their previous interactions were not great, she didn't want to see the two being killed by this zombie king.
"Don't worry, although we don't know the strength of this zombie king, I have confidence in Lisa's abilities. Moreover, we are very close to Order, and there are several sisters ready to provide support at any time," Mu Ling reassured. Apart from the initial surprise, Mu Ling showed no signs of nervousness. She even ordered the transport plane fleet to accelerate, as any involvement in the battlefield could be dangerous for the female soldiers.
In the air, Judy looked excited. She had been itching for some action, and now that the zombie king was actively approaching, she could finally showcase her skills.
"Are you the White Emperor? What, do you want to stop us?" Lisa shouted loudly at the zombie girl. This zombie king was exceptionally rare, and its intelligence seemed to be even higher than that of Little Jin. It could definitely understand what she was saying.
The zombie girl's eyes showed a hint of confusion. On her delicate and perfect face, there was a look of bewilderment. She sniffed the air a few times, looking at Lisa with a fixed gaze.
"I'm not... not called the White Emperor... I don't fight... we... don't fight!"
The zombie girl's language wasn't very fluent; it was her first time communicating with humans. However, her voice was exceptionally melodic, fresh and clear, carrying a hint of a young girl's sweetness and purity, as if it could purify the soul.
Even Lisa and Judy couldn't help but be amazed by the girl's stunning appearance and enchanting voice. Lisa's beauty was already impeccable, but this zombie girl seemed like a celestial being descending to earth. Even if she were a real fairy, perhaps no one would object.
"Why not fight? If you're stopping us and even making a move, what does it mean?" Lisa didn't rush to take action, instead, she engaged in a slow conversation with the girl.
The zombie girl glanced at her own palm, then slowly retracted her sharp blood-red claws, turning them once again into delicate, jade-like hands. "You... have the scent of dad... we won't fight..."
Lisa was momentarily puzzled by the girl's words, not understanding their meaning. At the same time, Judy flew over slowly, and the girl made no attempt to stop her.
The two exchanged puzzled glances. "When you say the scent of dad, who is your dad?"
