Chapter 11: Define Kill

Kill or be killed, the blood is proof of your victory.

I stared at the words some more. How many different ways were there to interpret them?

The girls were together away from Noah and Kyle, and then I was off on my own. In theory they should be ganging up on me as the one outside the click. But given five minutes the girls now looked completely terrified of the rest of us.

The one kept looking at me, clearly she thought I must be a demon. Then again, I can't say she's wrong, as I was currently thinking which one to kill would leave the least bad juju.

I wasn't going to kill Kyle or his pal Noah, as fun as beating them up might be. That left the two girls, Lilly and the unknown.

Guess I'll kill the unknown. Killing is easier if you know nothing about them. Then another idea filtered into my mind and I started to play around with it. What exactly defined a kill? Without proper instructions could we argue a random point with the cat?

I glanced at the cave walls, no way they would set all this up without having the ability to watch it. So there were probably cameras around here. Evil shark destroyed my phone or I would have broken into the system already.

I was contemplating my other idea when suddenly there was a scream that got cut off abruptly. I looked up in shock as the one girl dragged the corpse of the other up to the metal plating. The corpse dangled with a broken neck. That was ….. unexpected.

Lilly stood with the body a sad smile on her face. "Whelp glad I never asked for her name back."

I looked at her and my eyes narrowed slightly. This girl was dangerous, she reminded me of a piece of me that I usually kept under wraps.

Kyle and Noah just looked horrified as the blood dripped onto the metal and suddenly it glowed.

Lilly looked at the glowing plate in surprise, "Well is it going to open or just glow?" Then suddenly she vanished from the spot.

I stared at the empty plate. Both the body and the girl had vanished.

Kyle walked over and stood on the plate as well. But nothing happened. That didn't bode well at all.

Kyle glared at the ceiling, "You know for a team supposed to save the world, this is a very poor idea!"

He didn't get an answer. I noticed Noah was looking at me and flinched as I stared back. Well this was just great, there were three of us left and only one was going to get out.

Unless, I turned back to the water thinking.

"Kyle, what now?" Noah said quietly.

Kyle cursed under his breath. "I don't know."

"I can wait here, maybe once it ends I'll be free. And you can, you know." Noah whispered.

"No I'm not killing her," Kyle replied.

"You're too soft always have been." I growled getting to my feet and walking over to them. "No wonder you didn't get in and had to find a job with a different agency."

Noah actively flinched away while Kyle looked back at me without moving.

"Okay then kill me already." Kyle stared back at me.

I rolled my eyes, "Always such a drama queen, give me your phone I want to try something."

He handed it to me.

"Password?"

"3343"

"Why would you tell her that!" Noah hissed.

"Because." Kyle seemed to think for a moment, "Stupid as it is, I've never met someone better at hacking."

"So what? How does that matter if she plans to murder us!" Noah looked appalled.

"She won't."

"How the heck do you know that!"

"Because…" Kyle paused looking at me and a slight smirk crossed his face, "She's on active status right now, she takes her job seriously even if she doesn't always act like it."

"And?"

"You could say her ideal vision of her job is to save the world or be the perfect human. But she also could care less if it burns down, which really is a problem when she isn't working. She set fire to a fast food joint where someone spit in her burger just so they wouldn't have a job to come back to."

"Gods you're both drama queens." I growled. "Shut up already. Plus, I saved the world from that fast food joint; it would have had food poisoning in a few days."

I found the system in the tunnels and looked through the cameras. Yep they were totally watching, and bonus the cameras had night vision I searched around for a bit. No other exits, no other islands. The waterway was quite huge though.

Well I hadn't expected another exit anyway. I zoomed in more on the camera view looking for the items I needed.

"Be back." I turned the phone light on and jumped into the water.

"Hey if you found an exit at least tell us the general location!" Noah yelled.

"No other exits." I replied and continued swimming.

"Where is she going then?" Noah muttered.

"Good question, she did say she'd be back let's just wait." Kyle scuffled on some rocks. "Let's find the best weapons in the area while we wait."

"And if a shark turns up?"

"Do you think she'd go swimming if she wasn't confident the sharks were gone?"

Their voices faded as I swam to the first area and started shinning the light around. This was a bit of a gruesome idea. I found what I was looking for and headed to the next spot, then to the last area. This one was going to be harder, the piece was so small.

Finally finding it I grabbed it and tried to avoid getting grossed out.

Eww! I continued trying to swim with my three 'items' which I also didn't want to touch. A complicated thing to do while swimming and dragging things.

I reached the shore.

Kyle had a glowing orb he passed to Noah.

"Huh what's that?" I asked.

He looked at me then turned a little green. "What are you carrying?"

"Isn't it obvious?" I tossed the hand, piece of an arm and toe onto the metal platform then glared at where I know a camera was. "By not doing anything we basically killed these three. Oh and I guess the first one counts because we didn't bother to get here in time. So we basically killed them."

Noah and Kyle were staring at me weirdly and suddenly the platform glowed with the number two.

"Does that mean they accept two out of three of those cases?" Kyle muttered.

"Yeah I guess the first one was a stretch." I muttered back.

Noah walked forward and added the orb to the pile. The glowing two changed to a three and suddenly light surrounded us all and the cave faded away to white.

I had to shut my eyes against the brightness before it faded again leaving us in a different room with a door. On it said-

Prepare time remaining 5hr 43m

"Great" I grumbled, "Another one? The sharks weren't enough?"
