Chapter 207: Crushed Hope and Talk
_________ POV Alien_________
It sure took them quite a while... I don't understand what was keeping them all so occupied until now.
Regardless, everything should be fine now that they are coming here. It seems they also managed to copy some interesting teleportation powers along the way.
Although only two portals opened up, I can feel the cores of all of my kin coming towards us through them.
Beru, the monster-like human that bested me till now will stand no chance against all of us together. It's only a matter of time before he gets defeated, even if his strength keeps growing throughout the fight.
Although, with my current state, I've mostly been reduced to the role of support, since Beru made sure to dismember me repeatedly. Healing will take a while even if I concentrate all of my remaining energy on it.
I could feel my smirk widening as the people below that managed to hear me grew a bit more fearful, rightfully so, they are just going to become fuel to strengthen my allies now, they all do have interesting powers anyway.
Still... Even with the people below us showing signs of panic, the monster in front of me is still holding me by the head with no sign of fear.
I can't wait for his emotions to be flipped on their head when he sees my allies in their full strength. I'm sure they managed to take away most of the seeds of power at this point, they should be relatively powerful even if they don't have as much experience using them in combination.
Here they come!
_________ POV Narration_________
Beru looked at the portals that opened up with an unimpressed face, he didn't bother taking the words of his enemies seriously, although he was indeed prepared to fight more enemies.
After all, it pays to be prepared and overconfidence was the root cause of all of the problems of a powerful hero.
But something at the back of his mind did tell him to calm down... After all, who exactly besides those among the people below (Toga and Monoma) used portals like his anyway?
The first one to step out of the portal was a tall, blond man looking to be in his mid-twenties, he had royal blue eyes and a muscular physique. Beru instantly recognized that man as Don.
The Alien in Beru's hands widened his eyes when he saw the scene. In Don's hand was a sack, filled with what looked to be apple-sized purplish marbles.
The blonde man took out one of the marbles and ate it without even blinking.
"Oi! Beru, you gotta try one of these things. It's fucking delicious I tell you!" Don said as he took out another one and ate it in a single bite.
"Stop eating them, you actual lame-brained moron. They are important research subjects." The person that came out of the other portal was also a human, no doubt about it.
A lame-looking scientist, Beru's good friend Yori was carrying a large bag, Beru could only assume that he was also carrying the same types of marbles as Don.
It didn't take long for the situation to click for the insectoid. He scratched the back of his head awkwardly when looking at his two associates just casually strolling into his battlefield.
"... Are those the allies you were talking about..." Beru said while pointing at the bags. His mocking tone gave away the fact that he already knew the answer to the questions he was asking.
It was pretty clear for Beru that the marbles were supposed to be the cores of the other aliens that had been scattered to research centres all around the world.
The alien couldn't even speak, it was flabbergasted beyond any reasonable doubt.
The alien stared at the two people that came out of the portals with eyes as wide as saucers, they carried what was technically the hearts and brains of his allies, and one of them was even eating the cores for god's sake.
"..." The alien didn't even say anything, the second it realized that its allies were no more, it also realized that there was simply no way to win that fight.
"Beru, glad to see you came to clean up here. I wouldn't have been able to do so myself. This one was especially troublesome to face without any planning." Yori said as he readjusted his glasses.
'It's kinda hard to tell if Don and Yori have fought any battles, the two of them seem to not even have wrinkles on their clothes. Yori at least needed to readjust his glasses, but Don doesn't even look like he had done anything else besides going to the store to buy groceries.
To be fair on that analogy, Don is indeed using a plastic grocery bag to carry the cores. Yori was at least a bit more serious, using a paper bag to prevent any environmental damage from his excursion.'
Beru rubbed his chin in contemplation while having those philosophical thoughts.
"To be fair, it was kinda happening on my turf~," Beru said while nodding his head.
"Besides that. Kinda sad to see that you've only got one of them. Pretty sure I took down at least two dozen... Although I might've eaten most of the cores already..." Don said while nodding his head in a sagely manner.
"Oh, cut the shit Don~ I was dealing with the most troublesome one here~ Although he was a bit troublesome at first, it's not like I was fighting him alone~" Beru shrugged off Don's comments rather quickly. Yori simply clutched the bridge of his nose and released a sigh.
The people below were also rather glad to see that the ones coming out of the portal were familiar faces. And those that could hear Beru and the others from up there could only sweat a bit.
It was ironic how quickly such a serious moment was ruined rather instantly. Well, at least it was ruined for the people that could hear the conversation.
The others could just feel the presence, or rather pressure that the new arrivals exuded, they were just glad that they were powerful reinforcements for Beru... Although the situation was already pretty much wrapped up.
"This isn't fair... None of this is fair... One monster was enough..." The alien sounded completely depressed, to the point where Beru felt like he was looking at a withered house plant.
In retrospect, the alien should've expected something like this to happen. It had already seen Don and Yori in Beru's memories, both monsters, one bigger than the other.
Don was a slightly weaker version of Beru, but he was a clone. The alien hoped that one of his kin would be able to dispel it, after all, it took only a single touch for the powers to be dispelled.
The fact that Don was still just fine meant that not only had the other aliens not even touched him once, but he also didn't bother touching them directly when defeating them.
Now they were just in a dormant state, not able to do anything but get eaten by Don.
As for Yori, well he was basically a stronger version of All for One. One with a great number of powerful quirks and with the ability and intellect to use even the most complicated ones with almost absolute proficiency.
The training he went through was gruelling, but the results were clearly showing themselves in situations like this.
It wasn't any wonder why the two of them could deal with the other aliens rather quickly, especially when taking into consideration the fact that they could teleport all over the world in seconds.
In truth, Don didn't even need to move for most of it. He still had armies of powerful quirk users that dealt with a few of the aliens by themselves.
He still had the Retirement Home Division, multiple quirked augmented fighters that could deal with most average heroes rather easily.
The Alien that was in Beru's grasp could only release a sigh of defeat. A stray thought appeared in its mind 'I guess there's no reason to not destroy everything now...'.
Almost instantly, green energy appeared around it, only for it to die down in the exact same second. Three distinct gazes were staring at the Alien with blood-red eyes.
Beru, Don and Aizawa. All of them using Aizawa's quirk, erasure, at the same time. An underground hero like Aizawa would obviously not stop paying attention to a fight randomly like that.
And he also knew how the incident during the birth of Izuku's child played out.
The alien instantly realized what had happened, but it wasn't able to try to use that power a second time. Because in the same second that the green energy dissipated, Beru threw the alien slightly in the air and extended his claws.
This time, they cut without much resistance, the Alien was quickly put in a precarious situation as Beru's claws turned his body into a nice smoothie.
Eventually, Beru stopped his claws as he came across something a bit tougher. With surgical precision, Beru pulled out the core of the alien in front of him and ate it in the same second.
Strangely, the alien didn't feel any anger in its last moments, it didn't feel any hatred. It was just a strange feeling of anguish and regret.
A thought surfaced at the top of the alien's mind and remained there until it finally died... 'Why couldn't we choose another planet to do this on?'
Beru waved his hand as pieces of his enemy scattered all across the battlefield. Most of the people down below didn't even realize the danger they were in just now, they all cheered in unison when seeing Beru finish off their enemy.
And the few people that saw what the alien attempted all released a sigh of relief.
"Damn... That was close~" Beru said as he released a sigh of relief after swallowing his enemy's core.
"It was a bit unwise of you to not finish that thing instantly..." Yori with a bit of a glare.
"Welp, At least everything turned out fine." Don waved his hand dismissively, although a bit of sweat was present on his brow.
"My bad~ Also, Don, you were right to say that these things taste good..." Beru clenched his fists as he could a newfound power coursing through his body.
"Well, I guess you could say that we do have similar tastes," Don said with a smile while Beru just gave him a hollow laugh for his awful joke, Yori refused to even acknowledge it.
The three of them then quickly descended to the rest of the heroes waiting down below. Everyone present cheered even louder when seeing the three of them come down from the sky.
And just like that, the day was over. Everyone could take a breather and finally rest properly.
Yori also made sure to carefully contain the captured cores. Don just wanted to eat them all, but the scientist did eventually stop him.
Beru did have to go and get checked up at the hospital, Recovery Girl wasn't exactly pleased with how he had just waltzed back into the battlefield with his injuries unhealed/unchecked, it didn't matter that he recovered by himself a bit.
So there he was, sitting in a larger-than-normal hospital bed with his limbs in casts while looking at the ceiling with a stupid face.
Many people visited him, including a lot of his friends and students, little Kota and his family were among the first to arrive there. One can only guess how terrifying it was for so many of his friends to see Beru in that state. Even if the situation ended in the hero's favour.
Still, seeing Beru face to face helped a lot. His demeanour and attitude managed to erase any worry that his friends might've had.
Beru was about to just go ahead and sleep through the rest of his day, as any hospital patient does.
Then the door to his private hospital room opened once more. This time the person that walked in was alone, Beru was mostly visited by groups, even Lady Nagant came alongside her mother and, strangely, a high ranking hero named Hawks.
But this time he had a lone visitor, and it wasn't like Beru didn't expect it. The figure that walked in was a moderately tall woman with well-defined features, it was none other than his girlfriend, Nemuri.
The insectoid could clearly see the concern in her sky-blue eyes, but there was also something else present this time... Uncertainty...
'I guess we do need to finally have a serious conversation...' Beru heaved a sigh as he prepared for what was to come.
