Chapter 571: Chapter 520 Michael Jackson Playing Moonwalker

When The Eight released in America, Michael Jackson quickly asked his assistant to buy him all eight of the new ZAGE games. But what he was most excited about was none other than the Moonwalker game. Not long after, his assistant brought him Moonwalker along with the other seven titles. Michael had already cleared his schedule just to play it. "Let's see what this game is all about, and hopefully Zaboru won't disappoint me." He looked at the Moonwalker game — the cover art showed him with animated style in the newest Smooth Criminal outfit, moonwalking, and honestly, the cover looked great. Michael ran his fingers thoughtfully over the cover, smiling to himself as memories from the recent music video that Zaboru himself choreographed came back to him. He chuckled, feeling a childlike excitement rise up, opened the box carefully, almost ceremoniously, and slid the Moonwalker cartridge into the ZEPS 2, his heart beating a little faster as the console powered on.

After that, the ZEPS 2 beeped and showed the ZAGE logo. Then it said,

"AWWW!"

Then, a 16-bit version of Smooth Criminal started playing, while Michael was dancing in the sky. Michael's eyes shone in awe.

"The menu is so cool!"

He quickly pressed start, then Michael in the menu spun and teleported somewhere else.

Then, the 16-bit cutscene played: "Michael Jackson, former member of the Moonwalker Clan of Earth. Moonwalkers are people who harness moon power to grant them supernatural abilities. But the Moonwalker people are strict about their culture, and when they discovered Michael using moon power in a weird and unique style, they exiled him. That didn't make Michael sad. Instead, he became a vigilante who helps people against criminals — also known as The Moonwalker! Determined to forge his own path, Michael trained himself in secret, mastering new moon techniques no one had ever dared attempt, blending music, rhythm, and combat into one while also looking very majestic!. Now, Michael is in pursuit of Frank LiDoe, also known as Mr. Big — the man creating artificial drugs to give people superpowers, aiming to force the whole world to use them! As Moonwalker closes in, the fate of the world hangs in the balance, and only his unique powers — and unmatched style — stand between hope and chaos!"

Michael Jackson then started playing Moonwalker. First, he familiarized himself with the controller:

D-Pad = MoveX = JumpSquare = Normal Attack (Kick)Circle = Dodge (Moonwalk)Triangle = Ranged Attack (Hat Throw)

As for L1, R1, R2, L2 — they didn't have functions yet.

Michael controlled the Moonwalker with ease. The enemies were people in suits, scattered across the stage, and shiny coins sparkled invitingly at every corner. He beat the enemies casually, weaving between their attacks with stylish kicks and smooth dodges, collecting coins as he moved. The stage was set in a glowing night town, neon signs flickering above wet pavement, giving everything a dreamy, electric feel. So far, the game was fairly easy — but Michael loved every second of it. The graphics were impressive for him, the animation crisp, and the movement — really smooth, almost like watching himself perform on stage.

He continued playing, beating enemies here and there. The gameplay flowed smoothly, with combos chaining together and the background music elevating the whole vibe. After a while, he found a glowing, round token called Smooth Criminal Token tucked behind a neon sign. A sparkle effect highlighted it as he approached, and a satisfying chime rang out when he grabbed it. Then a prompt appeared:

"If you possess this token, press R1 — you will force nearby enemies to dance with you!" The wording alone made Michael chuckle in amusement, eager to see it in action.

Michael was intrigued. After he collected the coins, a wave of enemies closed in on the Moonwalker. Michael pressed R1, and the screen paused briefly as the Moonwalker shouted, "AWWW!" Then he broke into a dance — and all the enemies joined in! Each one perfectly mimicked his moves, spinning and moonwalking under the glowing lights. The routine ended with Michael's iconic anti-gravity lean, the camera panning dramatically around him as sparkles filled the screen. When it finished, all the enemies collapsed, defeated in style. Michael Jackson grinned ear to ear, clapping his hands. "Hahahah! That's so interesting!" He laughing to himself, utterly delighted by how perfectly they captured his signature moves.

He continued to play until he found Mr. Big.

"Hahaha! You can't catch me, Moonwalker! Now, fight one of my strongest generals — General Missile!"

Then, a guy wearing a jetpack and missile launchers on his shoulders appeared.

"Leave it to me, boss!" Mr. Big then left.

Moonwalker said,

"This guy could be a problem… I need to use that."

Moonwalker then looked for coins in his pocket — the coins shone, and the game showed a prompt:

"Got New Ability: Moon Remnant. Press L1 to create remnants in places, then press L1 again to swap places with the remnant. Maximum 2 times."

Michael Jackson, playing the game, faced off against General Missile. General Missile fired a missile at Moonwalker — it locked on and chased him across the screen, weaving through obstacles and leaving a fiery trail. But Michael knew exactly what to do. He created a shimmering remnant at the edge of the screen, its outline glowing like moonlight. Just as the missile was about to hit, he pressed L1 — Moonwalker spun gracefully, a flash of silver light marking the teleport, and landed safely dodging the missile. Michael cheered softly, fists clenched in excitement. Moonwalker dashed forward, launching a combo of kicks and hat throws, dodging more missile blasts by blinking between remnants. The battle heated up as General Missile unleashed rapid-fire salvos, but Michael expertly navigated the chaos, landing stylish finishers with perfect rhythm.

He continued to fight against General Missile, and after a while, Moonwalker won. Then the game showed Chapter 1 End, and continued to Chapter 2.

In Chapter 2, Moonwalker tries to continue chasing Mr. Big — but because Moonwalker is being stalled by General Missile Mr. Big was already far ahead, with a convoy of bodyguard cars shielding him on the highway. Then In the game, Moonwalker spun so fast that blue energy flared around him — then his shoes lit up light blue he then moved backward, and started moonwalking backwards towards MR Big at incredible speed and leaving trails of lights in his shoes!!. The screen flashed: Chapter 2 Start! The second stage took place on the highway, with Moonwalker racing by moonwalking with fast speed while enemies attacked using cars, motorcycles, and even helicopters. The soundtrack thumped with an upbeat remix of "Smooth Criminal." Michael Jackson was delighted. "Damn! This is so good!" he exclaimed, grinning as he played, tapping his foot to the beat and leaning forward with wide eyes as he dodged on-screen hazards.

Moonwalker moved swiftly backward, gliding like moonlight itself, and his attack skill evolved into dazzling projectile moonlight fireballs that shimmered across the screen. The highway stage also lets Moonwalker move up and down the lanes like a beat-'em-up stage and when Moonwalker jumps with graceful spin!, , dodging cars and leaping over barricades with stylish flair. He could still use his Moonlight Remnant blink skills, zipping between spots in bursts of silver light. Michael grinned as he mastered the rhythm, chaining together combo attacks, dodges, and moonlight blasts effortlessly. The stage intensified with new enemy patterns — bikers swerving in from the sides, trucks blocking the lanes, and helicopters swooping down. Michael leaned forward, fully immersed, pulling off split-second teleports with Moonlight Remnant and launching projectiles midair. Explosions lit up the screen as he cleared waves of enemies, and the remix soundtrack amped up the tension. It was fast, stylish, and pure adrenaline, keeping Michael on the edge of his seat as he played.

The chase was so intense — and the boss was Mr. Big himself, in a car! He dropped bombs and oil to make Moonwalker slow down, and Michael — the player — had to avoid it!

After a while, Michael finally beat Mr. Big in his car and Mr Big Car exploded!. But instead of giving up when his car Destroyed, Mr. Big grinned, using his rocket boots to fly!

"I didn't want to use this! But you are really a hassle, Moonwalker! Goodbye!"

The game said Stage 2 End, but it quickly continued. Moonwalker said in text,

"Not so fast, Mr. Big!"

Moonwalker leaned his body using the anti-gravity dance, then a cape appeared on his back — the cape shone with magic, rippling like moonlight, and Moonwalker soared into the sky! Using anti-gravity magic, he spun gracefully, leaving trails of light blue light as he shot upward, dodging debris and weaving between clouds. His cape billowed dramatically, and for a moment, it looked like a dance in the air, combining elegance and power.

Michael's eyes lit up.

"Whoa! Now I'm flying!?"

Then the stage began — the gameplay turned into a side-scrolling shoot-'em-up, with enemies like big birds, helicopters, and the boss himself, Mr. Big, using rocket boosters. He was being helped by many helicopters and missiles. Michael had to beat and avoid them. The sky was filled with chaos: flocks of mechanical birds swooped in erratic patterns, helicopters rained down machine-gun fire, and missiles zigzagged across the screen with flashing red warnings. The background showed graceful moonlight skies, adding intensity to the airborne chase. Laser blasts and missiles left glowing trails, while clouds parted dramatically around them. Michael gasped and laughed, his fingers flying over the controls, feeling the rush of dodging and counterattacking in midair although he died a couple of times he just Re-try again clearly enjoying the game.

Finally, a cutscene played. Moonwalker was just about to reach Mr. Big when something unexpected happened — a guy in a motorcycle jacket with pompadour pomade head, riding a flaming flying motorcycle, slammed straight into Moonwalker! Moonwalker crashed down into a nearby city, skidding across the pavement with sparks flying as he tumbled into a pile of crates. The man approached him, smirking with a toothpick between his teeth. "Not so fast to reach my boss, huh!?" His eyes glowed briefly, and then, breathing fire from his mouth, he added in text, "Make sure this guy doesn't wake up, boys!" He jumped into the air, his feet igniting with roaring flames, as his underlings — bikers with pomade hair and leather jackets wielding baseball bat— revved their engines and surrounded Moonwalker, ready to beat him down. Neon signs flickered around them, casting eerie light on the cracked streets, and the soundtrack shifted into a gritty rock remix. The screen flashed: Chapter 4 Start!

Michael Jackson laughed.

"Are these guys a rockabilly reference? Hahaha, it's so cool!"

Michael couldn't wait to continue — his hands hovered over the controller, eyes still wide with excitement — but suddenly, his secretary stepped in and said he had a phone call. Michael sighed deeply, shoulders drooping, and reluctantly paused the game, casting one last glance at the frozen screen with a soft chuckle. "I'll be back for you," he whispered playfully, determined to continue his adventure as soon as the call was over.
