Chapter 569: Chapter 518 Seth Vincent Playing Super Punch Out
Seth Vincent from Washington, known as Sevin_W in the e-sports world, is the reigning ZAGE Champion for USA Mortal Kombat. Just like Endo, he proudly holds his Champion Card — a sleek black-and-gold card featuring an anime-style illustration of himself, with his signature character, Sub-Zero, striking a cool pose behind him. The background displays the iconic Mortal Kombat dragon logo, and below the artwork are the words: "SEVIN_W Champion of Mortal Kombat 1994 USA."
This card could be used by Seth to get ZAGE's new games for free (one copy each). Although Sevin had already purchased The Eight games and was curious about all of them, he decided to dive into Super Punch-Out!! first — fighting games were his passion, and boxing ranked among his favorite sports. Seth had been a huge fan of the original Punch-Out!! on ZEPS 1, especially drawn to the Fantasy Circuit mode introduced back then, and he was eager to see if Super Punch-Out!! on ZEPS 2 would bring back that exciting feature.
"Hehehe, I wonder what this game will be like, hahaha!" Seth thought, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He couldn't wait! He had already taken two days off just to enjoy a full four-day gaming marathon. Naturally, his first pick was Super Punch-Out!!
Seth quickly opened the Super Punch-Out!! cartridge, slotted it into his beloved ZEPS 2, and watched as the menu came to life. The cutscene played: Little Mac tightening his gloves, bouncing on his toes, throwing sharp punches into the air — all animated with smooth, polished 16 bit flair. Then the screen flashed "Press Start!" Seth grinned wide and slammed the button without hesitation. As the tutorial loaded, he was immediately impressed, realizing how drastically the game had evolved from Punch-Out!! 1. The camera was now closer, giving the action an intense, up-close feel, and Little Mac appeared slightly transparent on-screen, allowing Seth to track the opponent's movements with ease.
Seth played through the tutorial, and basically, the controls were:
Left D-pad = Dodge leftRight D-pad = Dodge right
Down D-pad = Dodge down
Up D-pad = Taunt
L1 = Block mid
L1 + Down = Block down
L1 + Left/Right = Hook parries (huge window, really risky)
Square = Left jab
Circle = Right jab
Square (hold) = Left hook
Circle (hold) = Right hook
X = Body punch
X (hold) = Body punch 2x consecutive
Triangle = Uppercut
Triangle (hold) = Charged uppercut
L2 = Smack face (heal a bit)
R1 = Abilities
R2 = Super abilities (need to fill the Super gauge)
Seth was surprised how complex the game had become. "Damn, this is gonna be good!"
He first fought the old man, Gabby Jay from France, in Minor Circuit! Seth quickly overwhelmed Gabby Jay, comboing jab-jab-hook, then uppercut. After that, he won and got the points. Back at the menu, there were options to Continue, Equip, and Shop. Seth went to the shop, and there was a list of Abilities and Super Abilities Little Mac could unlock. The only ability Seth could buy now was the Super Ability "Take Off Left Hook" with the description:
"Ability of charging left hook punch and it makes a sound like an airplane takeoff."
Seth's eyes lit up, and he bought the ability. Then he continued to play, this time against another Minor Circuit opponent — none other than Bear Hugger from Canada. Seth dodged his attacks and hit Bear Hugger to fill the Super gauge, then delivered a charged uppercut! It connected, and Bear Hugger was stunned. Then Seth quickly pressed and charged R2. Little Mac charged his left fist, and a little gauge showed below him. After a full 3-second charge, the screen splashed, and it showed Little Mac's eye, and he shouted in text:
"Take Off Left Hook!"
It showed Little Mac's fist moving with wind coating it, making a "WHOOSH!" sound, and then BAM! It connected to Bear Hugger and deleted more than half his health.
"Holy moly, the damage and the animation are so cool!" Seth continued and beat Bear Hugger. He continued playing the Minor Circuit and finally fought the final boss — none other than Bald Bull. Seth grinned.
"Hey! It's Bald Bull, long time no see!" Seth chuckled, recognizing the familiar face from Punch-Out!! on ZEPS 1. Grinning with anticipation, he purchased a normal ability called "Concentration" — essentially a high-risk move that boosted his next attack. If timed perfectly alongside the Super Ability Take Off Right Hook, it could instantly defeat the opponent. But pulling it off was no easy feat; first, Seth had to land a precise charged uppercut to stun the opponent, making it a true test of skill and timing.
With precise timing and a bit of luck, Seth pulled it off! He activated the Concentration ability, then unleashed his ultimate move, obliterating Bald Bull in an instant.
"Yeah!" Seth shouted, fist pumping the air with triumph, a wide grin stretched across his face.
Fueled by adrenaline, Seth pressed on to the Major Circuit, where he squared off against Bob Charlie, Dragon Chan, Masked Muscle, and the returning Mr. Sandman. Remarkably, he cleared the Major Circuit flawlessly, his confidence growing with each victory.
Then in World Circuit, things got harder. The first opponent, Aran Ryan, was using headbutts — really unexpected! And he often faked his punches!
"Damn! The difficulty spike!" Seth muttered with a mix of frustration and excitement. He retried and finally overcame Aran Ryan, then pushed through the next opponents: Heike Kagero and Mad Clown. After those intense battles, he faced the last boss of the World Circuit — none other than Super Macho Man, the iconic returning character from Punch-Out!! 1!
Seth was able to beat World Circuit after a couple of tough, sweaty tries. Then came the Special Circuit. First up was Narcis Prince — a flashy, arrogant fighter who, if you dared hit his face, would fly into a rage and become wildly unpredictable! The difficulty shot up even higher, and Seth had to grit his teeth and retry several times before finally outsmarting and defeating Narcis Prince.
"Damn! That guy's tough!"
Then came the next opponent, Hoy Quarlow, a kung-fu master with an odd, unpredictable pattern — it was almost impossible to read his moves!
"What the hell!?" Seth groaned, retrying over and over. Finally, on his tenth attempt, he cracked the code and took Hoy Quarlow down, grinning with satisfaction. Fueled by momentum, Seth pressed on to Rick Bruiser, and after a fierce battle, the ultimate challenge awaited — none other than Nick Bruiser, The Perfect Boxer.
To hit Nick, Seth needed to parry or use a Super Ability — and parrying him was brutally hard. But after studying Nick's moves through dozens of grueling attempts, mastering the timing and keeping his nerves steady, Seth Vincent finally managed to defeat Nick Bruiser!
"Yeah! Finally!"
The ending arrived: Little Mac stood tall as World Champion, confetti raining down as the crowd erupted in cheers. But just as the victory settled, the scene shifted — a mysterious figure in a hoodie with piercing blue eyes appeared. He shook his head slowly and spoke in text:
"Beat Nick Bruiser overwhelmingly, and then you're worthy for L1GM4."
Seth's eyes widened, heart thudding in his chest.
"Ah, I see — to unlock Fantasy Circuit, I need to beat Nick Bruiser without getting hit… but that's really hard shit."
That meant Seth needed to perfectly parry every one of Nick Bruiser's brutal attacks — including his unpredictable feints. But instead of frustration, a spark lit in Seth's eyes.
"Well, let's try a couple of times until I'm able to get it right!"
Hour after hour, Seth pushed himself, his fingers aching, his focus razor-sharp. And then, at last — flawless victory.
"Yes!!" he roared, leaping from his chair, a surge of pure triumph rushing through him.
Then the ending shifted dramatically. The hooded man with piercing blue eyes gave a knowing nod and flicked a card to Little Mac — an address gleamed on it. Another cutscene unfolded: Little Mac arrived at the mysterious location, where a striking Zabo-man outfit awaited — black Z helmet, sleek black shorts, and gleaming silver boxing gloves. Beside it stood a heavy, ornate door labeled "Door To Fantasy Circuit!" The music swelled, heightening the sense of anticipation.
Seth was really excited and pressed X to proceed. Then 5 prompt appear said "Input the Word" Seth grinned and input L 1 G M 4 Then the door ring "Welcome to fantasy circuit" Little Mac dressed up as Zabo-man, and, Little Mac shone and said,
"Whoa, my power definitely increased… and fantasy circuit huh? lets go!."
Then he went inside of the "Fantasy Circuit" door — and Seth couldn't wait for it.
