Chapter 155: Chapter 140: New Year with Family
Thursday, December 31st - Night
The New Year was approaching, and Zaboru had returned home to celebrate with his family. His girlfriend, Ayumi, had expressed interest in joining, and he gladly agreed. The house was bustling with activity as preparations were in full swing.
In the backyard, Zanichi was busy setting up a large table, filling it with beer and an assortment of drinks, while Zaboru helped arrange everything. Inside, Keiko was hard at work in the kitchen, preparing a variety of delicious dishes like hotpot, tempura, and other traditional New Year's foods. Even Junjou, Ayumi's driver, had pitched in, assisting with setting up decorations, while Ayumi played with Sanika, who was beyond excited for the festivities.
As they worked, Zanichi smirked and turned to his son. "Son, have you ever had a beer?"
Zaboru shook his head. "No, not yet, Dad. Actually, I don't plan to. You know I don't like alcohol or cigarettes."
Junjou let out a hearty laugh. "Hoho! A bright young man indeed! But to me, a life without cigarettes and alcohol sounds very bland."
Zanichi chuckled. "I'm with you, Junjou-san."
Zaboru sighed, rolling his eyes playfully. "Well, I have my own fun—making and playing video games."
Junjou raised a brow. "Isn't that just your job?"
Zanichi laughed loudly. "Hahaha! That's correct, Junjou-san! He just loves his job that much!"
"Of course! And that's what makes it enjoyable, right?" Zaboru replied confidently.
Zanichi took a sip of his beer and nodded. "Yeah, true. I wish I could love my job as much as you do."
Junjou chuckled. "Hahaha, as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters, Zaboru-sama."
Zaboru groaned. "Quit the '-sama,' Junjou-san. I'm really not used to being called that."
Junjou grinned. "Very well, Zaboru."
Just then, Sanika shouted excitedly. "Nii-san! Dad! Junjou-san! Let's play with fireworks!"
The three men exchanged amused glances before joining Sanika, eager to light the colorful fireworks together.
Meanwhile, at the food table, Keiko sat beside Ayumi, smirking mischievously as she leaned in closer. "So, Ayumi-chan, how far have you gone with Zaboru~?"
Ayumi's face turned bright red. "K-Keiko-san! W-We haven't done anything... really!"
Keiko smirked. "Heh~? Really??"
Ayumi stammered, avoiding eye contact, which only made Keiko giggle. "Hahaha! I'm sorry, you're just too cute to tease!"
Then, lowering her voice to a whisper, she added, "I want grandchildren very much."
Ayumi's entire face turned crimson as she imagined a future where she was married to Zaboru, having a happy family with him. The thought flustered her so much that she quickly shook her head and ran off to play with Sanika, leaving Keiko laughing to herself.
As the night went on, the family enjoyed the feast together, sharing laughter and stories. They played games, reminisced about the past, and indulged in delicious food. The warmth of family filled the air, making the night feel magical.
Finally, the clock near midnight.
Zaboru smiled as he looked around. "I hope this new year brings blessings and that everything goes smoothly."
The final countdown began, and at exactly midnight, a massive firework exploded in the sky, illuminating the darkness with vibrant colors.
Sanika's eyes sparkled. "Waaah! So beautiful!"
Zaboru picked up his guitar and turned to everyone. "I have a song. This one is my own creation."
Everyone's eyes lit up, especially Ayumi's. Zaboru strummed his guitar and began to play an acoustic version of Kansha from RSP, one of the ending songs from Bleach Anime in his previous life.
Japanese Lyrics:
waratte kureru sasaete kureru hagemashite kureru daiji na hito e
nani ge nai hibi kono mainichi ima koushite koko ni iki nyarankanya naranai koto mo naka naka dekinai koto mo sorya takusan aru kedo itsu demo ganbattekou sore mo mawari no egao ni hagemasareta okage da yo
nanda kanda itta tte yappa honto kansha sore ga anzwer kakegae nai tomodachi kazoku tomo ni kokochi yoku sugosu
English Translation:
To those who laugh, support, and encourage me,
Every day's a carefree day, That's how I'm living.
The things I must do And the things I can't do There are so many of them, but I always do my best Because of all your encouraging smiles.
If I had to say something, My answer would really be gratitude.
To my irreplaceable friends and family, Overflowing with happiness together,
I have the present and I've got everyone, So I can still smile on a bad day.
I can't hold back my tears, Because I'm so thankful.
As he sang, his voice was filled with emotion. Ayumi watched him with admiration. Seeing him express his feelings so openly through music made her heart flutter. To her, he looked incredibly handsome at that moment.
The song resonated deeply with everyone. Even Junjou, who had only recently joined the family's celebrations, found himself nodding along to the music, appreciating the heartfelt lyrics. Zanichi and Keiko smiled proudly at their son, while Sanika clapped excitedly.
Ayumi was looking at her boyfriend singing with so much emotion. Not gonna lie, Zaboru looks extremely hot right now
For Zaboru, this was more than just a celebration—it was a moment of pure happiness. He had been reincarnated into this world, his happiest moments are not for riches or success, but for this—cherishing his family like this, making them happy, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
As the last note of the song faded, everyone applauded, and Zaboru smiled. This was his true blessing—being surrounded by the people who loved him unconditionally.
