Anime Multiverse: Starting from Mushoku Tensei

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Prologue

The night was dark.

Distant lights flickered.

The night breeze caressed the young man as he calmly gazed at the moon in the distance.

A hazy moonlight spilled down, casting a silvery glow on the street before him.

With a hint of melancholy, he pulled out his phone, a recent purchase. However, two distinct lines of text were displayed on the screen:

"Do you want to understand the meaning of life? Do you want to truly live?"

"Yes / YES"

The young man's name was Jiang Feng. He was eighteen years old, a citizen of the Celestial Dynasty. He had just finished the Gaokao (National College Entrance Examination) and was waiting for his acceptance letter. His family wasn't rich, but they were considered middle class. His parents were alive and well, though often away for work, but life was generally good.

In short, he felt content with his current life. He had no desire to understand the meaning of life or become a pawn of some higher power.

But these two options before him were truly perplexing.

He was an avid internet user, and these lines were a well-worn trope on Qidian Chinese Network (a popular web novel site).

He had even fantasized about such a scenario, but when it actually presented itself, he felt hesitant.

Jiang Feng even suspected it might be a virus from some hacker, waiting for a naive person to click "yes" so they could steal their WeChat bank account information.

After much deliberation, he ultimately decided against clicking.

No matter how he looked at it, not clicking seemed like the better option.

As a result, his phone had been displaying those lines since the previous night. Thanks to it, Jiang Feng hadn't been able to use his phone for an entire day.

He tried using other people's phones, only to find that the screen, which was originally on, would immediately turn black and then display the same two lines of text.

Jiang Feng fell into contemplation.

He pondered silently.

He was clueless.

He returned to the question at hand: To click or not to click?

He felt that clicking would lead to something terrible.

After all, the two options were "Yes" and "YES," like signing a contract to sell himself.

Lost in thought, he unconsciously walked along the quiet, dark street.

But in the next moment, he no longer needed to worry.

A vehicle, seemingly a portal from another world, came hurtling towards him at an incredible speed. He barely had time to react. The immense force and impact shattered the scene. Accompanied by the screech of metal scraping and tearing, Jiang Feng was flung away like a kite with a broken string.

A sharp pain surged through him, and almost instantly, his consciousness was overwhelmed by the agony.

Then, he lost consciousness.

Jiang Feng had no idea where the car came from. It was as if it had materialized out of thin air. Logically, a car moving at such a high speed should have been incredibly loud in the quiet night.

But he distinctly remembered not hearing any sound. The car seemed to have appeared suddenly from the side.

When Jiang Feng opened his eyes again, he was in a world of pure white.

He looked around with confusion. The surroundings were filled with a hazy, gray mist, making it difficult to see clearly.

He checked his limbs and found them intact, without the gruesome injuries he should have sustained from the car accident. Jiang Feng took a step forward, and his foot made contact with the white ground, causing ripples to spread across the white world.

Jiang Feng frowned and pondered. He had likely died.

It was strange. First, the text message, and now this car to pick him up.

Were there so many ways to be transported to another world these days?

And they were so afraid he would refuse. Did transporting people to other worlds have quotas now?

But what should he do now?

He tried to speak, but found that he couldn't make a sound. To be precise, he was moving his mouth, but no sound was coming out.

It was as if this place was a vacuum.

He looked around in confusion and waited for a while. Still, no god or self-proclaimed wise goddess named Aqua appeared. He felt a little irritated.

Jiang Feng muttered to himself, "You forced me to come here, but there isn't even a senior colleague to show me the ropes."

So, he simply started walking aimlessly.

The vast, boundless white world seemed to stretch on forever.

In the white world, only this young man walked alone.

No one else, only himself.

He didn't know how far he had walked or how many steps he had taken.

Finally, as a sense of loneliness began to creep into the young man's heart, loneliness and solitude transformed into fear, which washed over him.

From constantly looking around at the beginning to silently walking now, he simply walked calmly.

The journey was long and lifeless. He couldn't hear a sound or see a sign of life.

There were no colors, just a vast expanse of white, and only silence.

Was this…?

A bitter smile appeared on Jiang Feng's lips.

They had brought him here, but there was no god, only this white world left for him.

He felt tired and weak.

He wanted to sit down and rest.

So, Jiang Feng sat on the ground, and the white world rippled again.

He began to look up at the world around him.

The white world had no color, no temperature, just a vast expanse of white.

This white world was like a blank canvas waiting for an artist to paint on it, or a new book waiting for an author to write in it.

A bold idea suddenly came to Jiang Feng's mind: There was no god or goddess. Perhaps he was the writer of this world?

He began to recall the quiet night before the car accident.

The night enveloped the entire city, and bright neon lights flickered in the darkness. Fewer and fewer pedestrians walked the streets, with only a few drunkards staggering along. The night breeze gently rustled the leaves, making a rustling sound, as if whispering something.

The tall buildings in the distance were brightly lit, like a huge castle standing in the darkness. The shops on both sides of the street were closed, with only a few late-night snack shops still open. Tempting aromas wafted from the shops, making people's mouths water.

Suddenly, a cat slipped out of a street corner and quietly walked towards a trash can. It sniffed and then stuck out its tongue to lick, making a sizzling sound. A dog not far away also began to bark, breaking the silence of the night.

He walked through the city in the dark night.

The stars in the sky twinkled, like countless diamonds adorning the black sky. The moon also showed half of its face, emitting a soft light. A nightingale sang in the distance, its crisp voice echoing in the air.

The city under the night was like a mysterious world, full of the unknown and imagination. It made Jiang Feng feel refreshed, but also lonely and isolated.

The world began to change. The original white world was turned upside down. Jiang Feng looked up, and the sky was no longer a white world, but a dark night. The bright moonlight shone down, the streets began to become lively, and a black and white cat appeared in front of him. Scenes began to spread rapidly in all directions with Jiang Feng as the center. Jiang Feng stood here, just standing quietly.

The feeling of loneliness disappeared, and the fear of the unknown dissipated, replaced by a strong sense of novelty.
