Chapter 742: Beach Volleyball? No, Beach Missile Launcher!
"All right, I'll stop teasing you."
Rei Ao let go of her and gently ruffled her hair.
"Get changed and come out—everyone's waiting."
"Let's go already!"
Flushed with shame and anger, Gabriel shoved him, but Rei Ao only pulled her in tighter.
Looking down at her reddened cheeks and misty eyes, he couldn't resist lowering his head and brushing a light kiss across her lips.
"Mmph!"
Gabriel's eyes flew wide open; her whole body went rigid.
Rei Ao laughed at her adorable reaction.
"Okay, okay—no more teasing. But… are you willing to hit the beach now?"
Face still crimson, Gabriel dared not meet his gaze; she merely gave a tiny nod.
Satisfied, Rei Ao smiled and slid the locker door open.
"If you don't get out soon, I can't promise I won't keep bullying you right here."
Gabriel shoved him away, turned her back, and straightened her rumpled swimsuit. "I‑I know! Now go!"
Chuckling, Rei Ao slipped out of the changing room, leaving Gabriel alone at the mirror.
Seeing her glowing cheeks and the shimmer still in her eyes, she stamped a foot in frustration.
Glancing downward at herself, she muttered, "Ugh… what in the world is wrong with me!"
…
By the time Gabriel finally dawdled out, the scene before her made her forget her earlier embarrassment.
The summer sun poured over the endless beach; golden grains glittered, and the sea breeze—heavy with moisture—rustled past every holiday‑maker.
Well… this could be fun after all.
Rei Ao stood a little ways off.
The wind lifted his short black hair, and his eyes—brilliant as a rainbow—swept the lively scene with a lazy smile.
The beach was already an ocean of laughter.
"Kobayashi! Michiru! Come play beach volleyball!"
Tohru's exuberant voice carried across the sand.
Her long blond hair flew as she waved her arms in excitement.
Beside her, little Kanna blinked huge eyes, clutching a brightly coloured volleyball, cheeks full of anticipation.
"Michiru, play with us," she said.
Tiny as she was—and cute as could be—anyone who knew her understood her true nature.
Hearing the call, Michiru Hyōdō perked right up.
In a pretty swimsuit that showed her fine figure, she strode over with a confident smile.
"Sure!"
She rubbed her hands together, already picturing herself dominating the court.
Kobayashi chuckled and followed, gentle‑faced but with a spark of eagerness in her eyes.
Teams were decided in no time:
Tohru and Kobayashi versus Kanna and Michiru.
"Serve coming!"
Kobayashi hefted the ball.
Michiru took her stance, eyes locked on it—until the very next instant her face froze.
Pop!
At a speed almost too fast for the naked eye, the ball screamed past Michiru's ear like a fired shell, trailing a faint sonic boom.
"Eh?!"
Michiru stood rooted, eyes wide, mouth agape, still feeling the cool wind the ball whipped across her cheek.
What… was that?
A serve that fast? This wasn't beach volleyball—it was a supersonic missile!
Before her shock subsided, Kanna moved—every bit as unbelievably fast.
The tiny dragon leapt and swung.
Boom!
The ball rocketed back with an even sharper sonic crack—faster, if anything, than Kobayashi's serve.
"Wow!"
It slammed into the sand on Tohru and Kobayashi's side, spraying a cloud of grit.
"Nice one, Kanna!" Tohru laughed, unwilling to lose; she fired it back just as fast, another sonic boom echoing.
And so began a beach‑volleyball match that defied all reason.
The two dragons unleashed their full power:
the ball blurred between them, its path invisible, a rapid series of sonic cracks snapping like firecrackers.
White sand burst into little clouds under the shockwaves.
Michiru could only stare, utterly sidelined, unable even to see the ball's shadow.
Is this still beach volleyball?
No—this was a contest of draconic speed and strength!
Kobayashi tugged at the corner of her mouth. She could tap her Shin powers and join in, but that hardly seemed fair to an ordinary human like Michiru.
The commotion drew everyone else.
Activities ceased as people gawked at the god‑level rally.
"Whoa… that's awesome!" cried Sora, standing with Illya, both faces alight with wonder.
Mabel, Alicia and Sumika Fujimiya clustered together; Alicia's jaw hung open.
"H‑how are they even doing that?"
"Plenty of folks in the Chat Group aren't exactly ordinary," Sumika clicked her tongue. Only Rei Ao, she mused, could win them over and gather them here.
Kaguya Shinomiya, puzzled and dazed, whispered to Ai Hayasaka beside her, "Ai, that little girl called Kanna—how can she be so powerful? She's so tiny…"
Hayasaka, unruffled as ever, glanced at the court and replied calmly, "Lady Shinomiya, she's no ordinary girl. She's a dragon."
"A… dragon?!"
Kaguya's eyes went wide; the revelation was hard to swallow—even knowing such impossibilities might exist, seeing one in the form of an adorable child was another matter entirely.
Hayasaka simply nodded and kept watching the incredible match.
