Chapter 26: Chapter 285 - Text Mate
Keifer's POV
I want to bang my phone against the wall. I use the word 'TSS' again. I'm nervous. I hope she doesn't notice what I said.
I reread my message to her.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: It was nice hearing your voice again. 😊
I don't know her. What she knows is that we've met, so she might not notice the word again. My carelessness could put me in danger. I need to double-check my messages next time.
My phone's text tone goes off. It's Jay-jay.
📩
From: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: I don't know you! Good Night!
My lips curl into a smile. I don't sense any irritation in her response. And she didn't react to the word 'TSS' again. I can't help but smile as I typed my reply.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: Good night… I hope you have sweet dreams. 😙😙😙
I feel so corny for using emojis—so childish and cringe. But it seems like Jay-jay is enjoying it.
📩
From: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: I know you too. Sweet dreams to, you too. 😊😊😊
Damn it!
Why can't I stop smiling? It's just an emoji! I bite my lip while typing a reply.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: Nah! But wet dreams will do!
I can already imagine her reaction.
📩
From: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: You Pervert! Don't text me anymore! You can't do that! I knew it!
And I laugh so hard. I collapse onto my bed, laughing. I'm so in love with this woman. She makes me laugh with her small gestures and curses.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: I like it even more when you talk to me like that…
I bite my lip again and wait for her reply.
📩
From: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: You're really crazy! Your name is so bad… Gagong Baliw!
Sounds like a curse. Should I mentally count that one? It's a name, but still profanity.
Oh well… I'll count it. More profanity, more kisses.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: He's already a Gago (fool), even a Baliw (crazy), How rude.
If I were in front of her now, I'd probably pinch her cheek just because I'm so happy. Or maybe I'd stop her in another way.
📩
From: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: What? Don't bother me anymore! I thought you had to go? Why are you still replying to me?!
Then why is she replying to me?
I was about to text back when suddenly, someone knocked on the door. I quickly hid my secret phone and grabbed my original one from my pocket. I sat up straight, pretending I was doing nothing.
"Kuya… are you still awake?" It was Keigan.
"Yeah."
The door opened, and he walked in. He immediately looked at my hand.
"You're holding your phone," he pointed out.
"Yes, I was just using it a while ago."
"Then why aren't you answering Honey's messages and phone calls?"
Shit! I didn't even hear my phone ring. I was too busy with Jay-Jay.
"I'm not in the mood to answer her calls. I'm busy thinking about our plan," I said, tossing my phone behind me.
His forehead creased. "Even now, you decide not to answer her calls? Kuya! It's important to answer everyone's calls! We're handling something serious, so what they say matters too." He scolded me.
"I've just got a lot on my mind."
He extended his hand toward me. "Give me your phone. I'll answer the calls for you."
I shook my head. "No need. It won't happen again."
He sighed. "Next time, Kuya, I'm taking your phone."
I simply nodded. "Is that all?"
"We're going back to Watson Enterprise tomorrow. Please talk to him nicely, and don't threaten his life."
He was talking about Clyde. I sighed before nodding. He turned and walked out. I let out a breath of relief when the door closed. I thought he'd ask more questions about what I was doing.
Why do I feel like I'm talking to my father when I'm in front of him? So bossy.
I glanced at my secret phone. I wanted to text her, but she might be asleep by now. The time difference means it's probably midnight on her side. It's better if I let her sleep. I just hope she can sleep well despite everything that happened.
I put my phone away and got up to go to the bathroom. I stepped into the shower after stripping off my clothes.
I feel like I'm changing. Like I'm in another world. And because of that, I can't help but feel nervous. I can't control myself in that place.
After my shower, I changed into pajamas and collapsed onto the bed. My body is exhausted, but my mind is wide awake. I tried closing my eyes, forcing myself to sleep, but it was useless.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I don't know what to do to make myself sleepy. I grabbed my original phone and opened social media. I scrolled through Jay-Jay's account.
She doesn't post much. Only her enemies comment on her timeline. If there's a post, it's obviously not from her—it's Ci-N pretending to be her. Finding nothing interesting, I closed the app.
I let out a deep breath.
I opened my gallery. Most of the pictures here were taken by Ci-N. He promised he'd take nice pictures of Jay-Jay. But he failed miserably. Most of his shots were of her gaping, closing her eyes, or making weird faces.
Jay-Jay would definitely snort at these. There's even a picture of her yawning and another one where she's picking her nose. These shots could ruin her reputation.
I put my phone aside again and lay down. I rolled over in bed, but my mind was still restless. Just as I imagined, I started thinking about how I'd approach Jay when I return.
Maybe a deep, torrid kiss will do. She'd probably punch me.
Maybe I should just hug her. Or buy her an expensive gift. But she doesn't like material things. She's more into… food!
I'll take her to an all-you-can-eat buffet for a month—or a whole year. Better yet, I'll just buy the entire restaurant for her. She'd definitely love that. I'll have Honey find me an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant.
I wonder if she's dreaming about me now.
Does she eat well? Did she get into a fight again? What could Angelo have done to her? I'm a bit worried about her family's reaction. Maybe Aries is fighting her again right now.
I feel like I want to go home. I don't want to get involved while I'm here, but I want to know exactly what's happening to her.
Damn it! I should just go to sleep!
I twisted around, rolling on the bed. If I don't stop thinking about her, I might not be able to resist the urge to go home.
I gave her space because she needed it. I can't just go back just because I'm worried. I know she's a strong woman. I trust her, and I believe she can face every challenge in her life. I got up and picked up my main phone. I looked up Rory's name and hit the call button.
["Hello?"] He answered in a sleepy voice.
"Rory! I need you to keep me updated—"
He cut me off. ["Keifer? Oh no! It's tomorrow! It's early morning here!"]
"I know. I just want to make sure you update me on what's going on with Jay-Jay."
I heard him groan in frustration. ["Yes! Now let me sleep, please!"]
"Okay... Goodnight," I said and ended the call.
I just wanted to make sure she's safe. Maybe I should call the others, too. There's nothing wrong with saying hello once in a while.
I put my phone down on the bedside table and lay back down, but I had no intention of sleeping yet. I had this feeling that someone was thinking about me. And that someone was her.
I smiled as I pulled out my secret phone. Biting my lip, I typed out a message.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: Stop thinking about me. I can't sleep.
Not long after, I received her reply. I knew it—she was still awake.
📩
From: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: Your face is hard! What do you think, I'm thinking of you? YOU ARE THICK!
I chuckled softly.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: What do I do? Because you're the only person I've been talking to all this time.
I knew she would insist that I was wrong. My stubborn Future Mrs. Watson.
📩
From: MyFutureMrsWatson
Message: Don't me! Don't blame me!
What? Don't me?
I burst out laughing after reading her message. She really knows how to make me laugh—intentionally or not.
I started typing my reply, but another message from her popped up. I sent my message first before reading hers.
To: MyFutureMrsWatson
Message: Hahaha… What's with your English?
📩
From: MyFutureMrsWatson
Message: It's because you're the one using the skin! I can't sleep!
What? Using the skin? I quickly typed my response.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: Yes, I am thinking of you. Here in my bed… naked. 😍😉
I could already sense her anger from here. Time to start counting down.
📩
From: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: Idiot! Don't show me your skin, If you keep saying nonsense, you'll go home with broken ribs! You're a rascal! Such a pervert! You're just being cut by anise to carry it! People like you should be punished!
I was struggling to understand some of her words, but I knew she was pissed. Maybe I should cut down on the teasing.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: I'm just kidding. Yes, I'm thinking about you, but not like that. I imagine you in a wedding gown, walking down the red carpet, looking at me with the happiest smile.
I always imagine that scene—me waiting at the church, her walking toward me, wearing her beautiful smile.
Damn. I hate sounding cheesy.
I composed another message.
To: My Future Mrs. Watson
Message: And of course… the honeymoon!
Yeah, she's definitely cursing me out right now, wishing for my death.
I was going to wait for her response, but I thought it would be bad to keep her awake. She needed to save her energy, especially now that the Hanamitchi had retreated. It would only cause more problems later.
I hid my secret phone and closed my eyes. This time, I didn't need to force myself to sleep—I actually drifted off.
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I fumbled for my secret phone, thinking it was the one ringing, but the sound stopped.
"Hello," came Keigan's voice.
I opened my eyes and saw him holding my main phone. Good thing I hadn't taken the other one out.
"Got it. We'll be there," he said before putting my phone down.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Too early to scold me," I said in a raspy voice.
"Get up. You're late," he said.
I glanced at the wall clock. 7:15 AM. Keigan considered that late? His sense of time was clearly different from mine. I sighed and got up.
"Get out. I need to get ready," I said, and he walked out without another word.
I immediately took out my secret phone to check if she had sent me a message. Unfortunately, she had fallen asleep right after our conversation. I decided to greet her before hiding my phone again. Keigan had a habit of barging in without warning, so I had to be careful.
I headed straight to the bathroom for a quick shower. I knew Keigan would rush me again, and I hated it when he acted like our monster of a father. Actually, Keigan was more like that monster than our eldest brother. I wasn't surprised, but I didn't want Keigan to end up like him—a heartless beast.
I grabbed both my phones. I hid the secret one in my coat while keeping the main one in my pocket. As soon as I stepped out of the suite, Honey and Mr. Raider greeted me.
"I'll take care of Keiren," Mr. Raider said. "Honey will go with you."
I winced. I don't want to! Is there no one else? Maybe next time, I should call Rory and ask him to work for me instead.
"What's with that look?" Honey asked.
I shook my head. "Nothing."
We walked out of the hotel together. Our ride was already waiting. Once we got inside, Honey handed me something from a folder.
"What's this?"
"Watson Enterprise's acting CEO's plans," she explained. "They intend to expand and increase their shares."
"It's an effective plan. By the time you're ready to take over the company, you won't be able to fire him because he'll have more allies and influence."
That bastard! He's already making moves to secure what should be mine. How bold of him.
We arrived at the Enterprise. There are three buildings under our company's name. The newest one is located on a busy street in London, the second is unknown, and the oldest stands right before me now. It's still made of bricks and stone, resembling the materials used in castles. Though it has three floors, the high ceilings make it appear as tall as a five-story building.
Keigan and Honey walked ahead while I followed. As always, the lobby was nearly empty, except for a receptionist—one man and one woman. They greeted us with a slight bow.
As far as I know, this entire building is dedicated to the CEO's office, so there aren't many people around. Even the CEO's employees work here. Inside the elevator, Keigan pressed the floor button, breaking the silence.
"Please, Kuya, stop threatening his life," he pleaded.
He was talking about Clyde. But I can't help it—especially when I hear his insults. When we reached the office floor, I noticed bodyguards stationed at the door. Did he really feel that threatened? They stepped aside when they saw us approaching. Keigan knocked before opening the door.
We all froze at the sight before us—the youngest of the Elders. He's the only one who doesn't know about my inheritance. He's also the one who gave me the key to the Watson Bank vault.
"U-Uncle Kier," I said, bowing my head slightly.
I glanced at Clyde and saw the irritation on his face. It seems like they were discussing something serious.
"Have a seat, Keifer," Uncle Kier said, motioning toward the chairs across from Clyde.
I sat down, and Keigan and Honey stood behind me.
"Nice to see you, Uncle," Keigan greeted him.
Uncle Kier stared at him for a moment before speaking.
"I need a new pair of glasses. I thought you were Kaizer."
I didn't bother checking Keigan's reaction—I already knew he wouldn't like what he heard. Who would want to be compared to that monster?
"What brings you here, Uncle?" Clyde asked, briefly glancing at me before facing the Elder again.
"I heard you're not allowing Keifer to claim his rightful position in the company. Do you need me to remind you of our deal?"
I frowned. What deal? What's going on? I don't understand, but I like how he's scolding my stupid cousin about my rights.
"I don't think Keifer is ready," Clyde argued.
"Of course, he'll never be ready unless you give him the experience. At least grant him a position in the office," Uncle commanded, his voice echoing through the room. "He's the heir, and you're just the acting CEO."
Clyde's expression showed clear disapproval, but he couldn't argue—he was speaking to an Elder. Even though Uncle Kier wasn't as involved as the others, his words still carried weight.
"B-But the other Elders won't—"
"Forget them!" Uncle's voice thundered through the room. "Our deal, Clyde! I let you manage the company under the condition that you would train Keifer. But it seems you've changed your mind." Clyde clenched his fists and lowered his head.
So that's it! He was supposed to train me but went back on his word. No wonder he managed to hold on to the CEO position.
"Keifer," Uncle addressed me. "I know you don't have a degree yet. This company requires a graduate, which is why we can't let you take full control just yet."
I nodded. "I understand."
"Clyde will be responsible for your training," Uncle declared before standing up.
We followed suit, watching as he left the office. As soon as the door closed, Clyde grabbed me by the collar.
"You bastard don't deserve anything here," he hissed through clenched teeth.
I shoved his hand away. "Same as you. You tried to deceive the youngest Elder."
He smirked. "Your grandfather made a mistake. He shouldn't have left everything to you."
"And who should he have left it to? You?" I scoffed. "That would've been a disaster."
His face twisted in shock before he threw a punch, striking the corner of my lip. Honey screamed.
"Kuya!" Keigan shouted.
I immediately countered with a punch of my own, and of course, he wasn't going to back down.
We exchanged heavy blows and kicks, no longer caring where we were. We rolled over the coffee table and the executive desk, breaking several items. Papers flew through the air.
"I'll fucking take everything from you!" he shouted in my face.
I shoved him off. "I'll never let you!"
He got back on his feet and grabbed my shirt. "You don't deserve to be a Watson."
"Too late to say that! I've carried this last name for almost eighteen years now!"
He swung at me again, but I dodged and kicked his leg hard. He screamed in pain and collapsed to the floor.
"Fuck you!" he yelled. "You'll lose everything! I'll make sure of it! And I'll take your girl down with you!"
Fury surged through me. I kicked him in the face, silencing him as blood dripped from his mouth. He was too dizzy to speak. I was tempted to break his jaw.
"What have you done, Kuya?" Keigan asked in shock.
"Shut him up. He talks too much," I muttered.
I took off my coat and handed it to Honey before sitting back in my chair. Undoing a few buttons on my shirt, I exhaled deeply.
I could break his skull—just don't make the mistake of sympathizing with Jay-Jay.
