Chapter 777 Did We Come to the Wrong Place?
In the cosmic space outside the Okai Civilization, an enormous mothership floated there, accompanied by tens of thousands of warship formations.
Gurut, a Fourth-tier Controller martial artist, was also the Slave Hunter Corps Commander responsible for this invasion of the Okai Civilization.
Gurut's background was rather turbulent. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, his planet was conquered by a group of Slave Hunters, and the young Gurut was one of the many captives.
However, compared to other captives, he was somewhat fortunate. Gurut's tenacious demeanor and his eyes filled with hateful bloodlust caught the attention of a Slave Hunter at the time, who then took him along as a right-hand man to cultivate.
After lying dormant by that Slave Hunter's side for tens of thousands of years, Gurut followed him in slaughtering and plundering everywhere. By some stroke of luck, Gurut unexpectedly surpassed that Commander in strength.
Gurut never forgot the annihilation of his race. He killed that Commander and took his place, becoming the Commander of this Slave Hunter Corps himself.
Only the millennia of slaughter had embedded the word 'invasion' into his very bones.
Gurut sat in a room on the mothership, staring blankly at this expanse of space. Ever since he killed the Commander, it seemed as though his life had lost its meaning, and he could only fill his empty heart with invasion and slaughter.
"Hiss!" The electromagnetic door slid open, and a Slave Hunter Captain walked into the room.
"How is it, the Okai Civilization should be nearly conquered by now, right?" Gurut didn't even turn his head. A mere second-level civilization—they had conquered countless of these already, at most just a few extra days or fewer days of effort.
"Don't kill too many people. These slaves can all be sold for money," Gurut said, "With more and more civilizations joining the Cosmic Federation, our business is getting harder and harder."
"General Gurut, something happened," said the Slave Hunter Captain. "Our frontline fleet suffered a severe blow, losing over a hundred ships, with thousands of casualties!"
"What? How is that possible?" They had been attacking this civilization for nearly two years, and over those two years, they had lost fewer than ten ships, with martial artist casualties totaling fewer than fifty. How could such a thing suddenly happen?
"Could it be that the Cosmic Federation brought a fleet here?" Gurut thought for a moment, and it seemed to be the only possibility.
However, given the limited resources of the Cosmic Federation, their law enforcement fleets constantly patrol aimlessly in various cosmic civilizations, under which circumstances running into them was almost negligible.
"No, it appears that a very powerful Cosmic Beast passed by one of Okai Civilization's planets, and our attack seemed to have provoked it. Subsequently, that beast charged into our formations and slaughtered everyone."
"Fools!" Gurut cursed. "How do you do things? Don't you know that sparsely populated areas like this are the favorite resting places for Cosmic Beasts?"
Gurut had encountered such a situation before. If not for the previous Commander's order to retreat quickly, he might have only been a corpse by now. Days later, when they returned to that planet, the frenzied beast had massacred the planet clean, leaving no human survivors.
"What about the Okai Civilization now?" If that beast had killed all the humans of the Okai Civilization, then their two years of effort and resources would have been for nothing.
"Report to the Commander, according to our detectors left in the Okai Civilization, their cities remain intact, and the energy shield is full. That beast must have vented its anger and left."
"That's good," Gurut sighed in relief. "Stop wasting time. Gather all the troops and launch a full-scale attack. Who knows when that beast will return unexpectedly? We must fight swiftly and resolutely. We must conquer the Okai Civilization within a month."
"Yes!"
...
"Beep beep beep beep!"
"Who is it? Can't a person get a good night's sleep?" An alarm roused Fang Jueyu from his slumber.
He had just been dreaming that he obtained Aladdin's Magic Lamp. The genie asked him if he had any wishes he wanted fulfilled, and he could grant him three.
Beautiful women, luxurious mansions, sports cars—whatever he desired, it could all be his.
Yet, Fang Jueyu thought for a long time and couldn't come up with a single wish because he had all those things already, in any quantity he desired!
So he directly told the genie he could fulfill three of the genie's wishes.
Just as Fang Jueyu was laughing at the genie's dumbstruck expression, he was woken up by the noise.
"What's happening?" Fang Jueyu walked out of his room and saw the bustling Okai Civilization's royal city.
At this moment, Queen Aisana swiftly approached.
"Mr. Fang, our orbit detectors show that those invaders have returned, and their forces are two times larger than before. It seems they intend to launch a full-scale attack on us."
"Have the warriors learned how to use those warships and equipment I taught?"
"Yes, they've become proficient at piloting those ships."
"That's good," Fang Jueyu stretched lazily. "Come on, let's go watch the show from the city gates. I wonder what expressions those Slave Hunters will have when they see our current equipment."
...
In front of the city walls, all the Okai Civilization warriors were fully armed, waiting for the enemy to arrive.
The original weapons on the city walls had been entirely dismantled, replaced by countless advanced weapons like beam cannons, electromagnetic cannons, Magic Cannons, Mechanical Particle Cannons, and Rune Recharge Cannons.
Next to these weapons were boxes of Energy Barytes. It was the first time the warriors used such weapons, and they felt a faint excitement.
In the distance, the ship docking port, thousands of warships were ready. As soon as the enemy ships entered the Okai Civilization's atmosphere, they could immediately engage.
And then there were the martial artists of the Okai Civilization. They lined up neatly, each gripping a bottle of energy drink in hand—this was a battle to avenge the disgrace!
"They're coming!"
The enemy's advance units had already breached the atmosphere, a dense swarm of shadows covering the sky like an oppressive overcast day.
"The Queen has arrived!"
"And so has Mr. Fang!"
"Comrades, greetings! Comrades, you've worked hard!" Fang Jueyu waved as he walked up to the city wall.
"As of now, all frontline command authority is transferred to Mr. Fang!" Queen Aisana announced.
"Yes!" Initially, many doubted Fang Jueyu, but after he unveiled so many terrifying weapons, especially concocting the inexplicable drink "Energy Drink," no one dared to view him with ordinary eyes anymore.
"Now follow my command!" Fang Jueyu raised his hand, "Second battalion commander, fire!"
With that command, hundreds of Energy Barytes turned to powder, and beams packed with terrifying energy shot densely at the ships in the sky.
...
"Captain, the enemy's defensive city weapons have launched an attack on us!" The Slave Hunters' ships immediately received the news.
"Hahaha, their outdated weapons can't even break through our protective shields. Don't worry; just push through with the shield!"
"Bang!" A blue flash of electricity suddenly pierced through a warship. The shield shattered instantly like paper.
"What is happening?" The Captain's gaze froze; how could their ship be destroyed by a random attack? Was there a problem with the shields?
"Boom!"
"This... this is a Fourth-tier electric light cannon!"
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
"A high-level Third-tier Magic Cannon!"
"A high-level Third-tier Particle Cannon!"
"Where did they get so many high-level weapons?"
"Ah!"
"Have we attacked the wrong place?"
