An extra's guide to survive in the fantasy world

Railan's POV:

Well, everything seems to be going smoothly now, finally it has been almost 2 weeks since I arrived here, I was so overwhelmed initially by all the information overload that I possessed, but it seems, now I am sailing through pretty smoothly.

I think a significant factor in effect was to let go of the things that are not in my control currently, and instead of focusing on the mountain worth of tasks in front, I am focusing on properly taking each step as I try to climb that mountain of tasks.

Today is my favorite day, Sunday or Solarday as the people call it here. No Student Council, no classes, and my morning training is also over, I now can spend some time thinking about my next few moves!

So my priorities, right now include:

1. Strengthening myself, improving all of my stats, and finding a way to properly keep track of stats at will. Though I have improved, I can feel it, now two weeks into my schedule, I am able to run for longer duration and now, I can confidently run for 10 miles, and if I exert myself, another 5 miles is also possible, my reflexes have improved, well, Farkas said, it's still a long road ahead, but I have definitely taken steps forward.

2. I need to find proper clues before "the first confrontation between Siddhanth and the Truman Group, These guys are going to be the antagonists of this arc, I mean my life, I meant like following the novel. However, One big incident is supposed to happen during the upcoming student field trip, "The massacre", ya It is as brutal as the name implies, that psycho scarecrow slave of the main antagonist of this saga, "The Darkness reigning in", ya that's the title given by the author of the series and it's true in its literal sense. This trip is the starting point of all the madness that will follow. I don't want this to happen and I pledge, I will stop it. Many who accompanied us, teachers and seniors, will die here, before, Aurelius and Ms. President along with Siddhanth are able to subdue that Monster. The only way to stop the massacre is to either make sure the trip is canceled which is impossible considering the fact that it's yearly conduct and the financial institutions' banking the Academy want it to happen, and as I also have to make sure that I don't gain anymore ire and unexpected attention of the people, this option is a no go. The other option is to make sure Principal Adolas comes here before the incident. Thus, I need to find proper clues to convince him to be there whenever the need arises.

3. Another reason, this trip needs to happen is that I need to find Siddhanth's future weapon, "Asi" which literally translates as "The Sword". It was literally described in the web novel as "the primordial weapon, the first one to be ever created, The weapon that personifies the energy behind the creation of any weapon", in simple terms, "The origin/history of all weapons in the world".

That's how all the history books in this world describe the weapon. This is the weapon that Siddhanth wields in the future, the weapon itself chose Siddhanth to be its owner. It granted him the "mastery of all weapons existing or will ever be created" as the weapon comprised the entire knowledge and history of all the weapons and the cosmic energy itself used in creating all weapons. Further, this weapon is itself a growth-type weapon, it grows with its user, stores the experience as it grows, and passes down that knowledge to the current owner, as if all of this is not enough, it also assists in the growth of his user. Ya, that is why, in the future Siddhanth would come back again to visit the trip's spot and "with luck" finds this sword, he of course got the information from Mohini who received it from her father the Vajra. However, I think it's better for Siddhanth to find it early on as it would tremendously help him grow as well as keep the people's eye off me and focus on him.

Since, these couple of days, I have been observing that people are kinda watching me all the time, I mean they don't do anything but I kind of feel as if they have some animosity towards me, though, it's understandable that some of them also want to become the trainee of the student council so they may be a bit jealous, but will it be weird if I said that I feel it's going to be something different. Maybe I am just overthinking it, but I also feel like, I am to blame, whenever there is any incident requiring student council, I am brought out like a parrot or a tape recorder to recite the rules that have been violated by the students and the punishment that ensues. I feel that Ms. President deliberately asks me to do that, just cause she finds it funny and hilarious. In my mind, it's like, I am a three-year-old who learned counting and the alphabet, and my parent, or Ms. President here, makes me recite all that I know so that everyone listening claps for me. I am telling you, she herself started clapping once, but she immediately stopped upon realizing it. She is literally treating me like a toy, that starts jumping when my key is winded up and stops after some time. But I can't do anything about her, she is scary when questioned, and even Aurelius just listens to her whenever she is in a bad mood, which I would say is all the time. She just has the same evil laugh and smirks as her father, Sir Lucius. It scares me.

While, I was lost in thoughts thinking about all the harsh times I had to deal with due to Ms. President, my faithful butler Farkas came in with my much-requested theobromia seeds and my juice. Ya, you heard it right, I am having my butler with me in my Student Dorm. Well, this is all courtesy of being in the Student Council, as we work far more than normal students, we can have one of our personal helpers or servants to take care of some of the daily routine work as we need to be available at moment's notice in any situation related to students, thus, we can't just be like "oh, I am sorry, I was busy doing blah blah chore". Well, I was allowed to bring Farkas, last week when Miss Aurora saw that Ms. President is making me do not just one person's but 4 person's equivalent work in such a small amount of time. Well, needless to say, Ms. President was reprimanded for her negligence, in the Principal's office and I just had the best time of my life, well, she could clearly see my face melting with delight as her tyranny against me came to a hold, tears of joy fell from my eyes, as My savior in white Horse, Miss Aurora carried me from the clutches of the demon king Celestia StarBorne.

{Farkas, comes in and places the juice and the seeds on the table near the sofa in Kalkin's room but as he turns around to talk with his master, his eyes widen, his master, was smiling like an idiot, something he never saw before, he couldn't believe his eyes, his hands started shaking, he was confused, is it his master only? or some other person entered his master's body, he with all his courage mustered, "Master, Master, what happened to you"}

I was suddenly brought back to reality, by Farkas as he asked me with concern what happened to me, I couldn't understand it for a second, before realizing that due to my mana pool being depleted from training today, my passive skill was inactive and my stupid daydreaming face about Miss Aurora was in full view. I have to make up something new!

This reminds me of my fourth priority,

4. I need to advance my mana and abilities to unlock their potential!

With a deep, serious-looking face, I said, "Farkas, close the door behind you, I have something important to tell you, now!"

Farkas, also immediately closed the door behind him, and came to me, as I signaled him to bring his ears closer.

"Farkas, you may not believe me, but what I am about to say, is something that needs to be between just you and me, Not even Cerci can know about it, Are you with me or not?"

"Master, I'll follow you even after death, Tell me what is it, what do you want to tell me!"

"Farkas, I am telling you, once I say this, if it ever goes out, I am not sure what will happen, so not ever in your dreams even speak of this, ok!!"

"Yes, Master, I'll never betray you"

"Farkas, it's taking all of my courage to tell you this, I am in fact, I am actually, ..."

"Yes, Master, tell me, "

"Ok, here it goes, I may have found my knight in shining armor Farkas!"

"Oh, I get it, I get it, your knight in shining armor, ............... wait, .................. what did you say,..................... Master, you found your knight in shining armor?"

"Yes, Farkas, it's really important, This secret marks another phase of progress in our Master-butler relationship, Farkas, take it seriously, Now tell me, do you also have someone in your life?"

"Yes, master, is it that hard to believe?"

"No, no, no, just remember Farkas, what I told you today, should never come out again and our talk today never happened," I said to him with a straight serious look.

"Yes, Master, as you say, we never talked about anything,"

"So ya, Farkas, good you brought my morning snacks, Thank you so much for your hard work,"

"It's nothing, master, it's my duty, " he bowed in front of me as I walked towards the sofa to sit comfortably and enjoy my snacks.

{ ..... Meanwhile, Aria and Cerci, were listening to all this through the mind link Aria shared with Kalkin and Cerci, both of them wanted to know the same thing, "is our Master, dumb?" but neither of the two talked about it ever again ..... }

Well, I found out about this combination of breakfast a week back.

This juice that I am drinking is not ordinary some ordinary juice, it consists of an extracted essence of the plant called Saccharumvera, in the future, Miss Eveline will discover a way similar to the one I am using to efficiently separate the sweetness and mana in the essence which would cause a sudden increase in demand for "Saccharumvera".

However, I don't want to take the glory away from her, so I'll let her be the one to actually bring it to light in this world, in a sense, it is kinda like stealing from her, so I'll just use it for myself as I desperately need to increase my mana reserves.

Her method will be more industrial and scientific, while what I am doing is more home-made!

So, first, we need the plant Saccharumvera, which looks similar to bamboo from my previous world, and then we need to extract the essence from it. We need to properly crush it again and again to do that but we can't just crush it like breaking it into two. First of all, we need to remove its outer hard layer, the inner soft part is much easier to deal with, then we need to break it into several smaller pieces, now we need to blend them together, little by little, and then strain them through a strainer into a new container, in the strainer there will be blended fibers left, we need to squeeze out the juice from them as well, the more we can squeeze out the better!

While this method is useful, the only issue is that in this world there is no concept of blenders or anything to make my life easier, but I have my chef, Gustavo, when I first told him that I need the extract from Saccharumvera, he fainted at first, as no one really used Saccharumvera for consumption, honey is the main source of sweetening in this world currently so I am not surprised. The only thing Saccharumvera is used to make is some low-level protection gear and that's just its outer covering, its inner soft part is often discarded and thrown away or given to animals to eat, maybe used in slums for some food or stuff, but that's it. As its inner part contains lots of fibers it needs to be chewed long before it can provide any taste, it's just discarded. Miss Eveline would be lost in a forest and would survive thanks to the Saccharumvera and that's when she'll discover the sweetness as well as mana-rich essence this plant holds within itself.

So, I tried to explain my chef to the best of my abilities and made Farkas do a demo by using his brute strength to show the extracted essence and I told him to serve it to me with a little citrea extract, which is in fact lemon from my previous world.

Thus, I also bought a lot of Saccharumvera, well, let's just say, if I need to feed 200 people every day for 5 years three times a day with just the inner Sachharumvera, I'll still have some left, that's how much I bought. Considering, that this plant requires, 1-3 years to grow before it can be used properly, I also made an investment and purchased a nearby land, a few acres just for Sachharumvera cultivation, and it's about the time when Miss Eveline will make the discovery and that's when I'll become the chief exporter to miss Eveline's business.

Life's a lot easier when you have lots of money. Well, I do feel like Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, I mean, he was right, Money is a kind of superpower! However, I need to find a way to also maintain this superpower, up till now, all my expenditures as well as my employee's salaries and living are maintained partially by my father's businesses as well as the grant he receives from the Kingdom of Avaloria, however, it will end once I am out from the Academy. My father wasn't into businesses directly but he was an investor in many, Cerci, currently handles all the business-related information and meetings but she wants me to now become the face of the Braveheart Household as now a few of the so-called businesses my father invested in into, have kind of started a plot of their own. Well, Currently, Cerci is managing them, but she has expressed a desire that I now need to start participating in a few of those meetings with her so that I get to know these people. Yeah, it's time for my THE POKER FACE to play bigger roles.

Well, coming back to the matter, after Farkas, explained this to my chef, Gustavo, he didn't question any further and immediately started making preparations for the same, he uses a churn sort of apparatus to extract the essence every morning and Farkas brings them to me.

Along with the juice, I am also eating theobromia seeds, what people in this world do is they crush theobromia seeds which are almost as large as a person's thumb to a powder and then this powder can act as electrolytes when mixed with water and keep a person energetic. What they don't know is that when theobromia seeds are consumed directly along with the extract, it attunes the body's inner vibrations to the frequencies of the natural mana in the surroundings. This attunement allows a person to draw upon the mana of their surroundings, channeling it into their core. The extract courses through the veins like liquid lightning, invigorating every cell it touches, while the theobromia seed ingested starts vibrating within the body at the frequency of the natural mana, making the awakened cells imbibe the natural mana from the surroundings. Well, I only consume 3 seeds a day with my juice, I tried going above three but, I was saved by Cerci when she extracted that extra mana I ingested, I could have blown my body, had I consumed 2 more!

I am now at 5.40 in terms of mana capacity they are not much, however, I am close to the average now.

The only thing that still bugs me, is the fact that I didn't have even average stats, my original stats are just like bare as if someone possessed mana for the first time in his life. But according to Cerci, I had my enlightenment at the age of 10 around the same time as the top dogs amongst the first years. It is sort of like a gut instinct and I believe it has a lot to do with the curse of Doom, my mother being a witch, and finally why she locked herself in her room, just days after my father left for the voyage!

The only possible conclusion I can derive is it may be some sort of way to safeguard the attendants as in no way, Farkas and Cerci would have been safe from the Curse when even doctors who didn't know the patient beforehand were cursed, whereas these guys would have rushed over to my mom in case of even slightest discomfort. She didn't tell anybody about anything before she locked herself, thus, I think she saw some future and did something to save me and the people she loved from that dreadful curse.

This is my final goal, to find the truth about how I came here and about my mother, I believe this will take me to the Dark Continent and that's why I need people, allies, or attendants strong enough to not just save me and keep me from harm but travel the dark continent with me. That's why this task is on hold, and will only begin once I am confident that I am strong enough to be someone my allies and attendants can trust!

Location: Julietta's Cafe, The Octagon Academy

"Hi, Elora, I am here," said Mohini as she waved and signaled Elora to join her at her table.

"Hi, Elora, Thank you for accepting my invitation, I am sure you know Miss Eveline here, she is from the dorm of Sylvanara like you," said Mohini, She knows that Elora or Elena is the princess of Sylavanara, yet she loves to see, Elena sweat whenever her home kingdom is brought up, if it hadn't been the persuasion of her father, she would have joined as part of the Avaloria kingdom, yet you can call it a king's pride or so, he wanted her to go as a Sylvanian(people from Sylvanara) into the Academy.

Eveline is in a tough spot herself, The customs and traditions she was trained in, since young, demand her to pay her respect by bowing down to the royal family of Sylvanara but she is under strict orders from the Princess herself to act totally normal and treat Elena as some normal merchant family's daughter. Mohini knows about all this yet she loves to see how both of them struggle, according to her the ever-stoic and rule-obeying Elena also has a cute side to her when she is put into tough spots like this.

However, her little fun session is cut off by the arrival of Princess Freya Drakoria and her entourage of students sent by the royal family of Drakoria to assist her. Well, she is famous for being known as the pompous and spoiled daughter of the King of Drakoria. Well, she is also crazy strong along with her pet wyvern, she is the youngest in the entire Drakoria to bond with her pet and tame it as well at the young age of 4 all by herself. So, a part of her pompous nature also comes from that very fact as well.

The moment she arrives, her maid, also a student in the Academy, opens the door and she enters while another maid is holding her purse and another her morning shake! She walks up to the group of girls and sits down, while her attendants just stand behind her.

"Hi, Freya, how are you?" asks Mohini, well She is kind of her friend, but Freya doesn't acknowledge anyone who is lesser than her in strength, however Elora and Mohini both ranked higher than her in the First-year ranking so she appropriately responds to the two of them, all the while ignoring Eveline.

"I am fine, now, why did you ask me to come here, in the midst of my free day, don't you know I am busy as well?" said Freya, straight-faced to Mohini.

"Oh, I thought it would be nice of us to get to know each other, after all, we will all be together here for 4 years of academy life! Don't you also think so?" To be honest, Mohini doesn't care about any of this, she just wants to establish connections, and gather intel about the "precious" future of the kingdoms as well, making sure all the while she is viewed as the naive, kind young daughter of the Vajra. To her, everyone is "useful" and she wants to have as many "resources" at her disposal as possible. Well, what would you think, since she was a child she had the ability to understand/see/hear the reality within the hearts of the people, and she was trained to do so by her father as well, the only person, who was always honest to her both upfront and from within, thus, her perception of this world is based on all of the above.

The only thing that Mohini isn't able to decipher through her ability is Railan's mind and to her, it seems that Railan is always looking straight at her, no not the mask she wears in front of the people but the real Mohini, the calculative person deep behind her mask. Thus, she somehow feels shy, she gets a feeling she cannot describe, whenever she is near Railan, he doesn't talk much, and keeps to himself, however, to her, he somehow feels the closest, a person just like her with a mask on and someone who can see the reality within people. Yet, she cannot compare herself to him, as despite that mask, he feels honest to her just like her father while she is not!

"Ya, ya, I get it, so is there anyone else who is also coming?" asked Freya, she doesn't like it when people make her wait!

"Ya, I invited Miss President and Miss Shadowstrike as well, however, Miss Shadowstrike canceled as she wasn't feeling well, while Miss President should be arriving any minute now!" replied Mohini, in the sweetest voice one can!

"Oh, where are my manners, I forgot to ask you all, what would you like to have, Please feel free, it's all on me!" replied Mohini.

{ .......Well, this cafe is owned by Celestia Information Guild, a shadow organization within Celestia, they use this place as a front to gather information, the owner of this Cafe is none other than Madam Juliette, mother of Mohini and the leader of the guild. Well, Juliette was one of the original shadow-trained to guard Vajra and that's when they met, however, Vajra cannot be tied down to a family as he is supposed to be head for the entirety of Celestia nor can his successors claim the title for himself, thus, he is not allowed to have a family, yet, the current Vajra fell in love with Juliette, had their daughter, Mohini, though he was opposed, however, he is currently one of the strongest living individual, who would dare to harm his daughter, so the leaders "allowed" him to have a daughter but he still cannot marry. Well, since the people of Celestia take their ancestry seriously, he himself felt guilty about ruining the tradition set by his ancestors and thus, has refrained from ever meeting Juliette again, he only communicates through other means but only as a head to another head, nothing more, nothing less.

The above information is known only amongst the leaders of Celestia and Mohini. No one knows that Juliette's cafe is a front except members of the shadow guild of Celestia. Even then, no one has actually seen the face of Juliette, the lover of Vajra and the leader of the Shadow organization except for Vajra himself. Some think of her as a witch with the ability to have a million faces, she can be anyone, she can be anywhere. That's why she was never caught, only when Vajra himself revealed that he was going to have a daughter, that's when people come to know about it. Thus, no one could find her, and only after Mohini was born did they come to know that the mother was none other than the leader of the Shadow organization, one of the original shadows meant to guard the Vajra. No one dared to ask Vajra himself, he declined to respond to any such request......}

After the waiter served them their drinks and snacks, they all started talking about their student life and how different the Academy is from their usual life in their kingdoms!

That's when, Freya asked, the question burning inside every person in the academy, "Why is Railan a part of the Student Council, how could he someone as low as 286 be chosen and people like me, looked over, isn't he just getting things handed to him just because his father was some important person to Avaloria?"

"Well, ah.. as you know, we cannot discuss with you all, how and why were chosen, we don't even know that ourselves," said Mohini trying to calm everyone down.

"I don't know, and I don't care, though to be perfectly honest, he is unique, different to most of us but to me he lacks the essence of the warrior" replied back Elena, speaking for the first time!

"What, what do you mean, then why was he chosen?" asked a further agitated Freya.

"I think I will be perfectly able to answer that question!" she heard a voice approaching to their table behind her.

She turned and everyone stood up, as the student Council President herself was standing there!

"Miss President, I am so glad you could come, " said Mohini smiling.

"Miss President, Elora Silverspoon here at your service," said Elena always so uptight!

"It's nice meeting you Miss Starborne, I remember the last time, it was during the Annual JOINT MEETING of the Kings, we met during the banquet," said Freya as she bowed to Celestia!

"Oh, princess, everyone, you don't have to be so formal, You are right Princess Freya, That was the last time we met, but here it's different, We are all students of the same academy, and you know, I apologize to you all, I am actually late, I just got caught up in some council work, I hope there isn't anything that I have missed," said Celestia

"Nothing Miss President, we were just chatting about our new lives here at the academy, It's really different than back at our kingdoms," said Eveline still bowing!

"Oh, Miss Eveline, no need to be so formal, call me Celestia, It's not an Academy day, I am here as Celestia, not the student council president, please Everyone, feel free to call me Celestia," said Celestia.

"Ya, you are right, our lives here in the academy are really different than back at our kingdoms, Doesn't it give us a new perspective in life, what do you say Elora?" asked Celestia.

"Oh, Miss President, I mean, Celestia, you are right, I am kind of enjoying our time here as well, it isn't something I used to do in my kingdom," replied back Elora.

"So Celestia, I was just asking Mohini and Elora, why is that guy Railan chosen over other top students for the position of student council," asked Freya coming back to the topic at hand.

"Oh, ya sure, it's because we received a letter from the Principal that we need to make Railan part of the council, he was actually the first pick of the Principal himself," she said in a straight voice.

"Miss Celestia, would you like to have something?" asked Mohini.

"Oh, I guess some iced tea would be perfect," replied back Celestia.

"Would you please explain Celestia, what do you mean by that?" asked Freya still not satisfied with the answer.

"I am so sorry Freya, I cannot disclose the entire letter written by Professor Frostguard, however, well, Railan somehow managed to not only remain unharmed during the Representatives meeting, I mean he managed to remain totally unaffected by the Aura release of Aurelius Skythorn, he was also able to counter albeit with difficulty to the illusion spell cast on him by the Principal himself in the presence of Lucius StarBorne, the sword of Avaloria and got his approval as well. That's why he was recommended to us, as his base stats despite being so low, he possesses some real abilities and Miss Aurora and the council were requested to make him realize his full potential. I cannot disclose his real stats, however as you know his rank, you can guess that they are very low, but the amount of mental capacity he showcased during his test with Professor Frostguard combined with the fact that he is the sole survivor of Curse of Doom, this made professor write a letter on his behalf, as he believes that the curse has somehow interfered with his potential and now that, he is a part of the Academy, that latent potential in him can be properly visualized and we as the Academy have the duty to realize his potential." said Celestia in one go.

Elora and Mohini's eyes widened, "Railan managed to survive Aurelius' aura and Principal Adolas's spell?"

While Freya didn't understand why they both acted that way, Elora gained her composure first and then explained, "Freya, since you are not a part of the Council, you might not know this, it's not a hidden fact per se but something we were advised during our first council meeting, we were told to vacate the area when Senior Aurelius asks us or says he is going to release his Aura, even 2nd and 3rd-year members are told to remain there or move away base on their own judgment of the situation. Even Desmond and Siddhanth, couldn't handle Aurelius's Aura for more than 10 seconds and fainted, so it's a real surprise that Railan was able to do so, even handling Principal Adolas's spell, You know that even his weakest spell is at least a B-level max and he is a specialist in illusion spells, so if he is impressed by Railin's mental capacity, it must be a real deal, I take back my words, he may have some potential after all to be a warrior!" Elora finished speaking.

"So, just that's why we all were overlooked?" said Freya, Though her previous excitement had died down, she somewhat understood the reasons, illusion spells, Though easy to cast but really difficult to counter, that's why during student fights these spells are banned from usage and any student found using them is subject to elimination and strict punishment. She understands but still cannot believe that some last ranker could do that!

"Well, this and also 'cause he can recite any rule like a parrot," said Celestia, her eyes closed,

Both Elora and Mohini's faces showed as if they had headaches, just remembering those rule books they had to learn within days and had to recite again and again. While they struggled, Railan just did that as if it were a normal thing, They didn't understand then but now they had a better idea.

"So that's why he never had such issues, his mental capacity, " Those poor girls still carry rule books with them in case they need to remember some new rule.

"What do you mean?" Freya didn't understand

"You won't understand but he is a parrot, it's like he eats those books for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, " their faces showed as if they were totally blown off guard!

Freya looked at Celestia, she was just smiling,

"Ok, ok, I get it, you two relax now, come on, I'll order something for you guys to eat, ok, I get why he is a part of the council, now tell me what you'd like to order, you girls, come and join us as well," said Freya as she signaled her maids to join them.
