"This is the difference between the smart and the foolish!"

Donnie sighed helplessly after Robert recounted the incident at Lazack Babu's apartment complex.

"Smart people try to think of their opponents as cleverly as possible, fearing that any lack of thoroughness in their thinking might lead to flaws in their plans. Fools, on the other hand, are already stupid enough and yet imagine their opponents to be even more foolish, letting someone like Bart Bield mess up our plans—it's really quite infuriating!"

By now, Donnie was certain that Bart Bield was behind it all since it served his own personal interests best.

From what he knew about Bart Bield, the man certainly had the guts to pull off such a stunt.

"Indeed!" Nucky also sighed helplessly from the couch, "Yet it's such foolish acts by such a fool that almost caused our plans to fall apart!"

Nucky certainly didn't know the old saying from the ancient East: 'A chaotic punch can kill a master.'

In his rise to power, Donnie had always faced cunning and ruthless opponents. The game was all about calculations. The foolish actions of someone like Bart Bield, on the rare occasions that he acted, could catch Donnie and the others off guard!

"Now that we finally know the truth, the rest will be easy to handle!"

Donnie looked at Robert and continued to ask, "Have you caught Bart Bield's confidant?"

Donnie had previously instructed Robert to capture Bart Bield's confidant. The plan at the time was, if they couldn't find the real perpetrator quickly, to frame Bart Bield for the incident. Now that it seemed very likely Bart Bield was behind it, Donnie's job was made easier!

Robert replied with a smile, "We've caught him!"

Donnie nodded, "Bring him in!"

The man Robert's people had captured was none other than Mayo Logan, who now was tightly bound and ushered into Donnie's office.

When Mayo Logan saw Donnie and Nucky in the office... had it not been for his dark cheeks, one would certainly see his complexion turn pale.

Wasn't it said that Donnie and Nucky were both not in Atlantic City?

How could they both be here?

Mind not too sharp, Mayo Logan couldn't guess Donnie's intention; he just knew he was done for!

"Has Bart Bield found out?" Instead of immediately questioning Mayo Logan, Donnie asked the person who captured him.

"No, right now Bart Bield is at the border between the North District and West District, in a standoff with Chris's men."

Having gotten the answer he wanted, Donnie nodded in satisfaction and then turned to Mayo Logan, asking directly, "Alright, cut the nonsense. Tell me, where did you put those clothes this morning? Where did you put the tools you used for the job?"

This was a tactic from Donnie's pre-transfer experience. He had been on good terms with pre-trial services in his department and learned from them that to make a criminal tell the truth, you can't question them in their rhythm. Come right out and accuse them of the crime, and under the fear and panic, few can hold out.

Many people don't understand why those criminals can't just bite the bullet and say nothing during a pre-trial interview.

In truth, they haven't actually experienced that environment. In a closed setting, under the judgment of the law, a person's inner resolve has usually already crumbled. Only a few can maintain their composure, but they are the minority!

Clearly, Mayo Logan was not one of those few. Startled by Donnie's bluff, he immediately panicked, not thinking anymore but blurting out hastily.

"Mr. Block, I swear it wasn't my fault, it was all Bart's doing, truly, I tried to stop him at the time, Mr. Block, I beg of you, please spare me!"

Donnie frowned, scoffing, "You think I didn't know all this if you didn't tell me? What I'm asking is, where did you put those clothes? And where are the tools you used for the crime now?"

In fact, Donnie didn't know whether these items had been retained, but bluffing could never hurt.

And indeed, it brought Donnie an unexpected surprise.

As it turned out, they hadn't had the chance to destroy the tools they used. After damaging Lazack Babu's apartment complex, they had immediately begun coordinating matters across the entire North District, merely tossing their tools into the apartment where Bart Bield resided!

After further questioning Mayo Logan and getting a positive response about who else was involved, Donnie settled back into his chair, with Nucky crossing his legs.

"Robert, I leave the rest to you!"

At this point, Robert also wore a relaxed smile and said, "Understood, just wait for my good news!"

Then Robert had his men take Mayo Logan away.

The North District borders both the West and South Districts, but the street that borders the West District is bustling!

Therefore, this area has become a focal point of contention between the North District and the other three districts.

At the border, Chris and five hundred armed men, backed by the deterrent of four heavy machine guns upfront, were faced with the angry, yet restrained, North District residents, who sat in protest!
