Chapter 123: CHAPTER 120
Kaius shook his head in disbelief as he stared at Fiora and Kara lounging on the roof. He couldn't wrap his mind around the surreal scene in front of him.
"Fiora, you were once the loyal lieutenant of General Zod, and now you're lying on rooftops teaching Kara to be a solar-powered couch potato?" Kaius teased, raising an eyebrow.
"General Kaius, I am simply adapting to Earth's environment. The sun here enhances our powers. This is tactical preparation," Fiora replied with a deadpan expression, her gaze unwavering.
"Adapting to Earth's environment? Tactical preparation? You're using Earth's sun as a tanning bed," Kaius retorted, rolling his eyes.
Kara giggled, sipping her juice. "General Kaius, Fiora's advice is actually really helpful. I feel stronger already. Plus, Kelix makes the best orange juice!"
Clark stepped closer, inspecting the silkworm-like intelligent machine hovering nearby. "Kelix? Wait, how is this possible? I thought the intelligent machines from Krypton were still non-functional."
Kara beamed with pride. "I fixed it! It wasn't too hard. I grew up watching my dad work on artificial intelligence. I've seen these machines before, and I even updated Kelix's system to operate more efficiently. Now he's fully operational!"
Kaius's jaw dropped. "Wait, hold on. You fixed it? Upgraded it? In a few hours? I've been working on that thing for days, and I still can't figure out half the stuff your dad put in there!"
Kara shrugged nonchalantly. "It's just practice. Once you know what each module does, it's pretty straightforward."
Kaius groaned dramatically, clutching his forehead. "Why did I think I could compete with Kryptonian intellect? Kara, you're officially my new tech consultant."
Fiora smirked, her eyes glinting mischievously. "General Kaius, perhaps you should take some sunbathing lessons. It might help you think faster."
Kaius shot her a glare. "Fiora, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're making fun of your commanding officer."
"Never, General Kaius," Fiora replied with mock seriousness, snapping a salute.
Clark chuckled, breaking the moment of levity. "Alright, enough joking around. Kaius's right. We need to get Kelix to the Fortress of Solitude so it can replicate itself. Kara, your spaceship should be secured there as well."
Kara nodded eagerly. "Can I come too? I want to see the Fortress. I've read about it, but I've never been there!"
Kaius sighed, glancing at Fiora. "Fine. But no more calling me 'General Kaius.' I'm not running a Kryptonian boot camp here. Just call me Kaius."
"Yes, General Kaius!" both Fiora and Kara said in unison, their faces innocent but their voices teasing.
Kaius groaned. "Clark, help me out here!"
Superman grinned. "Sorry, Kaius. You're on your own with these two."
As the group prepared to leave, Kelix hovered nearby, carrying Kara's juice glass and ready to follow orders. Kaius couldn't help but shake his head. Despite the chaos, he had to admit that having a fully operational Kryptonian intelligent machine—and two incredibly powerful allies—might just make the battle against Brainiac's replica a little easier.
