Chapter 77: Match Against Thunderclap Academy
After Canghui Academy's devastating defeat, a wave of fear swept through the tournament. One by one, the remaining teams forfeited their matches whenever they were paired against Lanba Team.
Four days straight of automatic victories gave the Seven Dragons ample time to rest and recover. Unfortunately, not all teams were so lucky—fighting every single day without pause was physically and mentally draining.
Day Five brought a change.
Their next opponents were none other than Thunderclap Academy—one of the few teams brave enough to stand their ground.
After four days of dull, unearned wins, the Lanba girls were itching for action. The spark of excitement danced in their eyes as they prepared to finally face a real challenge.
This time, however, Tang Yin gave no tactical instructions simply because he wanted them to fight freely, without constraints.
"To grow stronger," Ning Fenzhi had once said,
"you must be courageous… adaptable. Victory at the highest levels of soul master combat doesn't come from playing it safe—it comes from stepping beyond safety."
In the world of soul masters, there exists something akin to sword intent from the Wuxia novels Tang Yin used to read.
Like Sword Douluo's sword aura, it wasn't something that could be taught—it had to be earned. Only through life-threatening battles could one awaken that kind of presence.
Forged in combat, born from the desire to challenge the strong, and sharpened by the will to win—the Slaughter City was created by the Asura God to cultivate this aura of true strength, which later evolves from the initial Slaughter Domain to Ashura Domain.
And today… that awakening would begin.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Let's give it up for the Seven Dragons of Lanba facing off against the Thunderclap Team!"
The crowd erupted into cheers as Tang Yin and the girls made their entrance, their refined, confident stride drawing admiration from every corner of the arena.
It had been four long days since their last real fight, and the fans were eager to see them in action again.
From the opposite end, Yu Tianxin, captain of Thunderclap Academy, entered with his teammates—his expression calm, but his eyes crackling with lightning.
Tang Yin glanced at him and sighed inwardly, a flicker of pity crossing his face.
"Liu Erlong must despise the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan elders… and her father," Tang Yin mused, his gaze distant as he sank deep in thought—contemplating his actions.
"But I doubt she hates Yu Tianheng for what happened with Yu Xiaogang. Her grudge was always personal, not blind. As for Yu Tianxin… I don't think she has any real connection to him at all—not like she did with Yu Tianheng."
He glanced up at the stands where Liu Erlong sat, her expression immediately brightened.
"Honestly… I'm not even sure if I want to save that clan. Liu Erlong's feelings about their purge were never clear in the original story. She wasn't happy, but she wasn't exactly mourning either..."
Tang Yin's expression hardened with resolve.
"I'll do everything in my capability to save the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect—they've supported me more than anyone. And Ning Fengzhi… he's already acknowledged me as his future son-in-law."
He exhaled slowly, refocusing on the match. "Anyway, let's concentrate. It'd be rude not to take this Thunderclap Team seriously."
Both teams released their Martial Souls, and the spectators relished what they craved most—colorful soul rings hovering around fourteen individual. It was a dazzling display of their powerful Empire's Young Talents.
The host's voice boomed:
"Five… Four… Three… Two… One—Begin!"
Immediately, Yu Tianxin lunged at Tang Yin, both hands transforming into shimmering dragon claws. Tang Yin calmly raised his hand, meeting the blow with Mysterious Jade Hand. A metallic clink rang out across the arena when their strikes collided.
Tang Yin appeared relatively lax as he calmly engaged in hand-to-hand combat with Yu Tianxin, all while casually keeping an eye on the girls' battlefield.
Lu Chen, a Spirit Elder with a Thunder Blade Martial Soul, clashed with Tai Long, who easily tanked the strikes like a human fortress,
Lei Mei, a Spirit Ancestor with a Thunder Element spirit, was pressuring Dai Mubai, who struggled under his relentless offense,
Lei Ju Chong, a Spirit Elder with a Thunder Parasol, squared off against Ye Lingling. Due to huge level gap, Lingling held her own against the barrage of thunder.
Xiao Yunju, armed with Thunder Beads, dueled Ning Rongrong. Rongrong's higher level and clever use of support-type tactics on herself gave her the clear upper hand.
Lei Tian, a Spirit Ancestor with a Thunder Hawk Martial Soul, exchanged attacks with Meng Yiran, who bombarded him with her Earth Dragon Lance from range.
Lei Dong, the vice-captain at the Spirit Ancestor level with a Thunder Spider Martial Soul, faced off against Zhu Zhuqing.
His electrical radar allowed him to detect movements even at extreme speeds, but Zhu Zhuqing's agile footwork and unpredictable rhythm kept her just out of reach—slipping through his defenses time and time again.
Tang Yin remained calm as Yu Tianxin struggled to overpower him with raw strength. Then—
"First Soul Skill—Blue Lightning Dragon Claw"
Yu Tianxin roared as two bolts of claw-shaped lightning shot toward Tang Yin.
Tang Yin vanished like a shadow, effortlessly dodging using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track. His second soul ring lit up:
"Second Soul Skill—Cloud Vine Binding!"
The Blue Silver King slithered through the air like a serpent, coiling tightly around Yu Tianxin and rapidly devouring his soul power. Though Yu Tianxin tore through some vines with his claws, more just wrapped tighter.
His eyes widened at the toughness and tenacity of the vines. Gritting his teeth, his second ring activated:
"Second Soul Skill—Fifteen Tons of Thunder!"
A blast of purple thunder exploded outward, shredding the vines into crackling ash. Desperately, he lunged again—this time, his third & fourth soul rings lit up simultaneously:
"Third Soul Skill—Thundergod's Fury!"
"Fourth Soul Skill—Blue Divine Dragon Envy!"
His thunder ability and dragon transformation power doubled, and a layer of lightning armor coated his body. Then, serpents of dark blue lightning condensed in midair—lunging at Tang Yin with open jaws.
Tang Yin still didn't feel threatened. Activating Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, he dodged the lightning snakes with fluid grace. Instantly, Yu Tianxin appeared in front of him again, using his first soul skill—now enhanced—to continue their brutal exchange.
Meanwhile on the Battlefield...
Tai Long had already defeated his opponent and pushed him out of bounds. Now he joined Dai Mubai, helping turn the tide against Lei Mei.
Tang Yin was genuinely impressed this time.
"Not bad. Looks like my Tang Sect will be welcoming its first Strength Clan member."
Ning Rongrong had swiftly defeated her own opponent and moved to assist Lingling, who was wearing down Lei Ju Chong with careful soul power control.
Rongrong and Lingling primarily used their soul power like internal energy. For example, when executing movement techniques like Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, they would channel their soul power with minimal leakage.
Rather than unleashing it in bursts of raw power, they passively used it to control and circulate energy throughout their bodies. This passive regulation allowed them to maintain peak efficiency during combat and recovery, ensuring they weren't easily drained.
Zhu Zhuqing adapted quickly, staying off the ground and leaping unpredictably to dodge Lei Dong's radar sense. Her precise Jade Hand strikes landed hard enough to make him nearly cry. He was growing desperate—he simply couldn't find her.
Meng Yiran, ever composed, attacked only when Lei Tian swooped down, conserving her own soul power while forcing him to waste his in constant flight. Her first soul skill, though light on consumption, packed heavy power.
Back to the Captains....
Yu Tianxin, now huffing and puffing, felt his soul power rapidly draining. Meanwhile, Tang Yin's energy remained abundant—his body passively absorbing the stray lightning.
Seeing the battle nearing its end, Tang Yin lunged—his agility now comparatively faster than an average agility-type Soul king. In one smooth movement, he delivered a chop to Yu Tianxin's neck, knocking him out cold.
Tang Yin casually picked him up like a sack of potatoes and tossed him out of bounds.
Moments later, Zhuqing, Meng Yiran, Lingling, and Rongrong also wrapped up their fights, leaving only Tai Long and Dai Mubai.
Seeing the rest of his team defeated, Lei Mei raised his hand and actively admitted defeat.
The audience erupted in cheers. This was the longest match the Lanba Team had ever fought, and they had emerged undefeated once more.
Tang Yin nodded in approval, his eyes on the girls—filled with quiet pride and ambition.
"They're doing well... but the real hurdles are only just beginning."
[By the way, this is just my personal take, but I believe the hunt and extermination of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan by Spirit Hall was accelerated by two or three years, partly because of Tang San. Here's why:
I) Tang San not only revealed his Clear Sky Hammer Martial Soul, but also defeated two of Spirit Hall's three top geniuses. This wasn't just a humiliation for them—it was also a direct violation of the Clear Sky Clan's agreement to stay hidden.
II) Tang san openly revealed his identity as Tang Hao's son during the finals of the tournament, essentially placing a giant target on his back.
III) Tang san formed a public alliance with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, essentially creating a triple threat:
-Tang San and the Clear Sky Clan
-Ning Fengzhi and the Seven Treasure Clan
-Liu Erlong & Yu Xiaogang, Blue Tyrant Clan
And of course, let's not forget the jealous Bibi Dong—watching Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong shamelessly spread dog food in front of her.]
