Chapter 6: Jackpot of a Different Kind
A quiet stillness hung in the air of the dimly lit room, broken only by the gentle sound of breathing. In that small room closed by four cement wall, cutting it from outside, from inside the room, you can't even tell that there nothing outside except white space. two teenagers sat side by side at the foot of a bed, their eyes fixed on the child lying peacefully under the thin, worn-out blanket.
One Piece Elric—more expressive and easygoing—rested his elbows on his knees and tilted his head slightly, his eyes flickering with curiosity.
"So…" he began, breaking the silence, "what do you think? What world do you reckon this kid came from?" there is faint impatient in his tone.
Marvel Elric leaned back slightly, his gaze never leaving the boy's face. His expression was thoughtful, his tone calm but cautious.
"I really can't tell," he admitted. "There's not much of any distinctive in his body. No unique characteristics. Nothing that ties him to any specific world. Honestly, I really can't say."
He just a red hair kid, but there one thing certain it somehow related to Japan, because he currently wearing some kind of kimono of sorts.
Still, there was a very simple solution.
One touch. Just one.
If they touched him, they could synchronize—feel the power, glimpse his memories, understand the world he came from. The answer would reveal itself in an instant.
But neither of them reached out.
Because they knew better.
They had both thought of the same possibility. The same risk.
In some worlds… being a powerless nobody was far safer than having any kind of ability.
"Take a world like A Certain Magical Index," Marvel Elric said slowly, almost as if reading his own thoughts aloud. "The whole planet is a battleground for Demon Gods. And if someone like him suddenly gained powers that don't match the system of that world…"
One Piece Elric finished the sentence with a sigh. "He'd draw attention. And the second he gets noticed by a Demon God or someone higher on the food chain…"
"Death would be a mercy," Marvel Elric said grimly.
In such chaotic multiverses, power wasn't a blessing. It was a curse that painted a giant red target on your back. That was why they couldn't recklessly give someone their own abilities or knowledge—especially not to a child.
At least, not until they were strong enough to protect themselves.
Marvel Elric's case was no exception either. In theory, he should have been erased by the TVA the moment his previous life's memories awakened. The knowledge he now held should've triggered a timeline branch immediately.
But… nothing happened.
The TVA never came.
He didn't understand why. Not yet.
That uncertainty was part of why he had chosen to live deep in the forest, away from cities and civilization. A self-imposed exile. He avoided unnecessary contact with others, not out of paranoia… but patience.
He was waiting. Quietly. Preparing.
But sooner or later, maybe something would come.
As the two Elrics whispered their thoughts, the sleeping child stirred.
His fingers twitched beneath the blanket. A slow breath escaped his lips. His eyelids fluttered open—just a sliver—revealing clouded, confused eyes.
Then—
His body tensed.
A sharp gasp escaped him as pain twisted across his face. He clutched at the sides of his head, as though something invisible had invaded his skull. His eyes unfocused. His face contorted.
It was like watching someone forcefully injected with too much information all at once. As if memories—distant, alien, ancient—were suddenly stuffed into his mind.
He hadn't even fully regained consciousness, yet his body trembled under the weight of it.
Before he could cry out, a voice shattered the thick tension in the room.
"Hey, kid!" One Piece Elric's casual, lighthearted tone rang out. "Which world did you travel from?"
The boy, dazed and overwhelmed, barely registered the words. But something—some subconscious reflex—compelled him to reply.
"…Naruto… world," he mumbled, voice weak.
His eyes were still foggy, and it was clear he hadn't processed anything. The memories flooding him had just awakened.
But the answer alone made One Piece Elric chuckle.
"Oh? Naruto, huh? Well, that's not too bad then. No big deal."
Grinning, he stepped forward and clapped the kid gently on the back.
A seemingly innocent gesture, and marvel Elric touch him.
But that single touch triggered everything.
In an instant, both Elrics froze in place.
Like statues.
Their bodies stiffened. Eyes wide.
Their expressions shifted rapidly, confusion morphing into disbelief.
But after a long, tense pause, the difference between them became clear.
Marvel Elric's face went from stunned to surprised… then into a calm realization. His lips slowly curved into a satisfied smile. Not loud, not flashy—just quiet, pleased acceptance. A nod of understanding.
But One Piece Elric—
His reaction was explosive.
At first, his jaw dropped in open astonishment. But then… an excited grin began to stretch across his face, growing larger and wilder by the second until it covered his whole face with manic glee.
And then, he laughed.
"Fuuuuck!" he shouted, his voice trembling with sheer excitement. "We really hit the jackpot this time!!"
A wild, echoing laughter burst from his lungs, shaking the room.
"HAHAHAHA! I'm invincible now! From this moment on… everything's goanna change!! HAAAAAAHAHA!!"
His voice echoed into the room like a storm unleashed, shaking the stillness into chaos.
The child blinked, confused and overwhelmed.
He had no idea what just happened, or it might take some time to except it.
But one thing was clear…
His arrival had broken the patient of both Elric.
