Chapter 16: Chapter 15 – A Date Beneath the Lanterns
Morning light filtered through the stable roof as I brushed down one of my father's tames. The peace was broken when Baran appeared, arms crossed and expression unreadable.
"Ares," he called, "why haven't you reported back to the guild about the Wind Lizard Hide quest?"
I froze. "Ah... I forgot."
Baran sighed, though not out of anger. "Do you have anything to turn in at least?"
I handed him a half bag of Wine Lizard hides I'd managed to collect yesterday. He accepted it with a grunt, then he asked me.
> "Tell me… this Serth's wyvern?"
"Yes. You rode him before, remember?"
Baran squinted. "Right… but something about him looks familiar." He gave his beard a thoughtful tug before moving on. "Anyway—can you conquer a dungeon?"
I blinked. "A dungeon?"
Baran nodded. "No new dungeons have been manifesting lately, but I believe one is hidden deep within the ruins of the fallen Kingdom of Farmist."
The name struck something in me. Once a proud kingdom, it had collapsed under a string of tragedies—the queen's mysterious death, the prince's disappearance, and finally, the king's fall. Now, only rubble remained.
It was a long journey—easily a month on foot—but I agreed to consider it.
That evening, I spoke to my parents. My mother smiled and gave her blessing, reminding me to give each of my girls the attention they deserved. My father merely nodded but said nothing. I sensed he knew something about Farmist—but didn't want to speak of it.
That night, I packed my things. Meanwhile, the girls were huddled together, whispering and laughing in my room. As I approached to check, Luna gently shut the door with her tail. Curious, I leaned against the wall to eavesdrop, but they simply giggled louder. Later, they pulled me into bed, surrounding me as I drifted into sleep.

The Road to Kyouro
We set off the next morning. My parents waved us off as we departed. On the way to Mavela Guild, Baran handed me a quest scroll—just in case we needed to validate our journey in another kingdom. He also suggested hitching a ride with a merchant caravan. Aula gave me a grimoire titled Modern Magic.
That's when I met an oddly familiar merchant—the very same man who had once sold Luna to Mister Dauge. He was struggling to lift a heavy cage onto his caravan. I nudged Luna to help him.
She slithered forward, eyes glowing red, her tail rigid. Silently, she grabbed the cage and set it in place, startling the merchant.
He stared at her, brows furrowed, but didn't seem to recognize her. When I approached and asked if he was heading to the Kyouro Empire, his eyes lit up.
"I am! You too?" he asked.
We smiled. "Let's go together."

The Countdown Begins
As the journey began, I noticed Aisha clinging tightly to me. Strangely, none of the others tried to interfere. Even Yuki remained silent, gazing out the window.
"Aisha?" I asked. "What's going on?"
They all turned away.
"Did I do something wrong?"
In response, each girl silently held up fingers: Yuki showed two, Reshia three, Luna four, and Hilda five. Aisha flashed one.
I groaned. I had no idea what they were trying to tell me.
They smirked.
By evening, we reached the Hinabata District outside the Kyouro Empire. Lanterns lit up the streets, and festive music filled the air. The district was packed with beastkin—many of whom worked as geishas. I remembered Kyouro Empire was famous for its hospitality to adventurers.
We wandered through the festival. Bright lanterns, delicious food stalls, and games filled the streets.
That's when a noble approached.
"Are they for sale?" he asked casually.
"Huh?" I replied, already annoyed.
"The fox... or the lizard girl. Either will do."
My girls and I collectively unleashed a wave of killing intent. The merchant recognized my aura and rushed over, bowing profusely.
"Apologies! He doesn't understand the situation!"
But the noble wouldn't give up. "You're clearly a slaver. I demand the guards seize him!"
Guards surrounded us.
Still clinging to my arm, Aisha calmly spoke. "This is my date. Don't ruin it."
"Date!?" I choked out.
"And tomorrow's mine," Yuki added coolly.
The noble grew red with rage. "A tamer? A Rank-B tamer, no less! With girls like these? You're dreaming!"
I stepped forward and summoned a thunder magic circle.
Thunder cracked. The noble's face went pale.
"I don't have time for you," I said coldly. "I'm on a date. Remember?"
I pulled Aisha close by the waist. She blushed but didn't resist. The guards hesitated, then lowered their weapons. We walked away, leaving the noble seething.

A Proper Date
As fireworks lit up the festival sky, Aisha and I strolled together. She held my hand tightly, her eyes shining with joy.
"Master, this is fun!" she said, pulling me to a food stall. "Look, they have skewers!"
I watched her face—the same radiant look she had when she first transformed. I couldn't stop staring.
"What is it?" she asked, her cheeks reddening.
I gently lifted her chin. "Nothing. Just... you."
We kissed beneath the glowing lanterns, fireworks bursting above us—her warmth grounding me more than any magic ever could.
"Take my surname," I whispered.
She smiled. "Yes, master."
"Call me—"
"No. I'll call you Darling from now on."

One Night Together
Later, at the inn, I was surprised to learn the girls had already reserved a room for Aisha and me.
They didn't want to interrupt. Before bed, I checked our shared status windows.

That night, Aisha changed into revealing lingerie. Her jet black hair smelled like wild berries. Her crimson eyes glowed. Her tanned skin glowed in the candlelight as she approached me, gently undressing me.
She wrapped her arms around me from behind, her chest pressing softly into my back—warm, grounding, like a quiet promise. She didn't need to say a word.
We embraced.
A commotion outside stirred briefly, but the other girls handled it without issue. I felt Aisha's warmth, her sincerity.
"What if... they want to do this too?" I asked.
"They're yours too," Aisha said softly. "If you want to share this with them… I won't mind."
"Aisha?" I asked as her face changed worried.
"Even if more come later… just remember—I was your first, okay?" she said, then smirked. "And I'm the one who gets to choose!"
I smiled.
"I love you, Darling."
"I love you too, Aisha."

In the Shadows
Elsewhere, in the dark alleys of Hinabata, the same noble fumed. A shadowy figure handed him something sinister.
Before he could use it, Yuki appeared in a blur of light.
"Plasma Step!"
She slashed the cursed object with her Cryo Daggers, shattering it in his hand.
The noble dropped to his knees in terror. Yuki returned to the inn silently.
Our night continued in peace—though I knew something darker was stirring behind the scene. As Aisha curled against me, her heartbeat steady and warm, I realized—this wasn't just a date. This was the beginning of something I never thought I'd deserve.
