Chapter 30- Unsure
The armour of the Lost Warrior—Eric Bloodflame.
A mythical item that the legendary warriors left behind after he poured his life essence, soul, and divine energy he accumulated while battling against the Demons all those years.
The artifact had the Valenchide Empire all this time.
The legendary artifact is a full-body armour that covers everything but above the neck. The reason why it was so highly regarded was that, regardless of any spell or assault, the armour would withstand the effect and convert it into kinetic energy which the wearer could utilize to attack them back.
It is said and from what I have seen in the game, this armour can even hold out against a Lord-rank demon—which was a rank below a Devil.
If I have to summarise what the armour can do then it can turn a person immune to death, no less.
However, this armour was not something I should have been receiving. Later in the story when Logan has to go against Demons, much higher than him in ranking and experience, he needs this armour to defend himself and the people around him. On his shoulders rested the safety of the Academy and possibly the whole of mankind. And for me, a side character, to obtain this boon....
Well, I am not gonna reject such a broken artifact just because it would be useful for the Protagonist.
When the time comes I would gladly hand it over to Logan, but until that time there was no harm for me to possess this legendary armour and use it for my benefits.
However the question arises,
"I don't possess Divine Blood...how am I going to wield the armour?"
I couldn't help asking myself as I stood beside Alatia.
After leaving Edmund's room she was having breakfast when I initiated this conversation.
Her spoon halted before she turned to look at me in puzzlement.
"Haven't you heard about Blood Ritual?"
I blinked in surprise before asking her, "But blood ritual can only be done between awakened people right?"
Alatia shook her head before enlightening me, "It is a completely unrestrained and unconditional ritual that can be performed by anyone."
I wanted to ask her something more, but seeing that she had resumed eating, I refrained.
"Don't hold back and ask, Kyle."
Encouraged by her, I finally asked her, "In this ritual, I would intake the blood of a divine awakened, not a regular one right?"
There are two types of awakened—Divine and Regular. Those with Elemental and Spiritual attributes come under the latter type. While those who possess Light attributes are called Divine Awakened.
Someone like Alatia who had Divine Awakening and Elemental Awakening as well is regarded as Dual-awakened.
And to wield that armour I need Divine essence inside of me or the armour would reject me as a wearer.
"Ah, yes. Although my brothers would probably offer someone else with Divine Blood, I have already resolved to feed Kyle with my blood."
....that sadistic smile is somewhat creepy Alatia.
'....oh crap!' Suddenly I realized something that made my heart shrink in fear.
I turned my focus to Alatia before asking, "Umm, my lady, after breakfast can I excuse myself for some hours? There is an urgent matter I need to look after."
I used every bit of my self-control to not let my anxiety appear in my voice. However, it still didn't help as Alatia raised a questioning brow at me and asked,
"Is there something you are hiding from me, Kyle?"
I sometimes resent the fact that I am so transparent to Alatia.
"...it's not something important. I need to...uh....prepare for any future attack on my lady. Yeah, that's it."
I think this was a believable lie since the trials have yet to conclude and as such, I need to be fully prepared to not let something like yesterday repeat.
"Hmm?"
Regardless of what believable excuse I present she was not going to let me go—was what I discerned from that look.
Alright, time for plan B.
Since the maids standing at a side could only see our backs, I leaned slightly forward and slid my hand on her arm before holding the back of her hand gently.
"...for my Ala, I don't want to take any risk and be completely prepared for any unforeseen situation. Am I not allowed to?"
Her grip on the spoon loosened up and her shoulders tensed. The way her ears began to turn red and Alatia fidgeted at her place made me feel guilty yet amused at the same time.
"....fine. Do whatever you want."
I wanted to hug the adorable princess right away but I held it back and stood back up.

After separating from Alatia, who had history class at this hour, I went to the library.
There were many books in the library which contained many events and war details from the past.
My current concern was to know more about Blood Ritual and also the recorded cases of success and failures.
From the basic knowledge I have, Blood Ritual binds two people under a spell which can be used for various purposes. The Blood Ritual was originally invented by the Witches of ancient times.
Its main focus was to let two people connect and share. In complicated words, if person A is connected to person B, and person A's life value is significant for the greater good, then person B can share their magic, organs, blood, and even life span with person A.
Although the ritual has various necessities if someone wants to share their life span with someone, it is an undeniable fact that Blood Ritual can extend one's life by several years.
However, it also has some limits and restrictions.
That's why I was here.
I, a person who uses dark magic in the form of those straw dolls am about to assimilate the blood of a Divine Awakened. It sounds like mixing oil and water.
I am searching for the probable outcome that can result from this fusion.
'Blod ritual....hmm....' Going through several books and records I finally found those recorded rituals which happened during the Great War between Demons and Humans.
Around that time, many humans were enslaved by demons and the same was true for this side. Naturally, they would use their slaves to extend their lifespan, as such, it didn't take me time to find a case where a Divine Awakened performed a blood ritual with Curse User and tried assimilating his blood into the demon.
[....although the hopes were dim, the war was reaching its peak as such humanity needed an abomination that could fight against the Demons. The demon chosen for the ritual was of a Chief-class and the divine awakened around the same rank. Initially, the blood ritual was established normally, however, the transfer of blood from the divine being to the demon failed miserably—causing the demon to explode into several fragments.]
[Since there were adverse effects on the Divine Awakened as well, this ritual cannot be used as a weapon against demons as well.]
[In short, the experiment was an utter failure.]
My face went pale reading through the report of the experiment and several other experiments that involved a demon and a human. In every case, both parties incurred damage.
'....I can't let this happen.' Although the mythical armour was a cheat item, I couldn't risk my and Alatia's life for this
However, the concern arises: How am I going to explain this to Alatia?
I was so deep in my thoughts that I completely missed the prying eyes looking at the case study I was reading.
The moment I felt a gaze on me, and I turned, the person disappeared
'Am I hallucinating now?' At that time, I couldn't have anticipated how much my lack of awareness was going to cost me.
