Vol 3 Ch 6: Untraceable II
A cloaked figure arrives at the beach and spots a lot of beefy guys in speedos. He orders something to drink but he learns all drinks were sold out because of the beefy guys in speedos. He gets mildly irritated and asks if the bar owner has seen a guy with black hair, a bit eccentric, who is skilled in combat and is about 19 years old. The bar owner tells this figure that a lot of people matching that description pass by. The cloaked figure overhears some beefy guys in speedos talk about Agnis, Raishin, and Gregory, and the hooded figure gets up. He walks up to them and shows interest in the individuals that got brought up. He learns of the battle the yakuza had with 3 individuals and how they had to build a yacht for them.
The cloaked figure asked if the yakuza knew where they were headed to. The yakuza indicated that they had no idea and that they’d been gone for quite a while. Arby lost his patience. This beach had nothing he wanted, not his favorite orange juice and not his target. A beefy guy accidentally bumped into him and that’s when he lost it. He killed the beefy guy and the yakuza got put on alert. The yakuza attacked and fought Arby but they were no match for him. Garo tried to surrender to save his allies but Arby didn’t care. He plunged a dagger through Garo’s heart and washed off the blood on his weapon in the sea. He became extremely annoyed because he lost his target. He went to look for magical signatures. Nothing, nothing indicated that magic has been used to travel over the ocean. For the first time in his life, his target escaped and this put him in a foul mood.
“I will find you and kill you, you can't escape me forever!” Arby [Shadowmelded] and headed over to Tyung, the nearest city.
Tyung is a port city, and trade involving the ocean was the theme of this city. Markets everywhere, seagulls and humans seemed to be the main inhabitants of this city and the smell of the ocean and fish was the most dominant. Arby had developed a dislike for fish because of a certain battle he had several years ago.
“Ugh, where is that asshole?” Arby sent out some shadow clones to find his target. His target has to be here! Nobody can escape from the Silent Night. At least that was what Arby was confident in. Arby bought some poisonous sea urchins and snacked on them. He used the spikes as toothpicks. A seagull stole one of his sea urchin snacks and he killed the seagull with a well-aimed dagger.
“Everything seems to be quite obnoxious lately.” He leaned back on a bench and tried to relax. It was only a matter of time before he would find his target. He was able to calm down. Then a seagull signed his black suit with its droppings.
“Stay calm Arby, it's just a seagull I’m not going to waste my mood and daggers on another one.” The people around him took distance from him. Arby noticed that he was exerting killing intent and he calmed himself. He realized that he hadn’t been acting like a Silent Night lately. His mood was quite volatile but he was confident that this problem would be solved after he killed his target. His pride didn’t allow him to calm down unless he sets his humiliating defeat right.
“Hahahaha hey did you see that? That guy got shat on by a seagull!”
“Hey, Io, not so loud he can hear you!” A red-haired woman with horns was laughing at Arby’s expense and she was accompanied by a man in a donkey suit. Arby tried his best to calm downt but the red-haired woman kept laughing.
“Hey! Kyle that’s him! That’s the guy who killed everyone!” Arby took a closer look at the woman and slowly started to remember where he had seen her before. He didn’t have time for this because he got assaulted by killing intent.
“And who are you? Is this a zoo? What do a dragon and a donkey want from me?” Arby dodged a dagger that flew at him. He easily evaded it but the dagger made an unnatural movement and grazed him. This gave him a bad taste in his mouth. It reminded him of his humiliating fight. His intuition alerted him and he dodged away and another man in a donkey suit narrowly missed him.
“Ugh, you fight just like that brat!”
“Oh, you mean Agnis? He’s my mentor, as I understand you have issues with him. Unfortunately for you, we have issues with you.” Toxic Donkey pointed at Arby with his donkey hoof. Toxic Donkey was wearing a onesie and he still had hands but it looked like Toxic Donkey had hooves. It didn't hinder his dexterity as his onesie is from Jarn and anything related to textile and clothing gets taken seriously in Jarn. this means that these hooves don't diminish his dexterity at all.
“That pest had a disciple? Well, then I will be happy to excise you from existence hahaha!” Arby put his hand on his forehead, leaned over backward, and made a dramatic laugh.
“Right, he mentioned that you’re an edgelord.” Toxic Donkey did his best to hold in his laugh.
“Right, let me hear the names of those foolish enough to challenge the Silent Night!”
“I’m Io and I’m a dragon!”
“The name is Kyle, but my adventurers name is Toxic Donkey, I’ll be coming for the role name.”
“Ha! A donkey wants to get his name as a role? Dream on kiddo, I will show you how big the world is, you stand no chance!”
The people cleared out. Arby was quite loud and the killing intent flying around scared them off. Something seemed off with Toxic Donkey. He must be 17 or 18 years old, why did this guy intimidate Arby so much?
Meanwhile in Gavin.
The Shadow had heard that Agnis had been in this town recently. There was an incident of what was called the ‘Floating Coffin’ incident. It had taken the Shadow long enough to figure out that its target’s adventurer's name was Silver Torrent.
“Quite a fitting name, what was he thinking giving away the ‘Silver’? Or is this related to something else?” After realizing that Agnis was linked to the name Silver Torrent it became a bit easier for the Shadow to track him but even though he seemed to be an adventurer who had quite some feats he stayed consistent in being hard to track down.
The Shadow had reason to believe that he was abusing his speed to get around which means he could be anywhere on the continent.
The Shadow sighed. The Shadow was confident in its ability to track down targets but Agnis surely was making this hard. At least this means that the other assassins would stand no chance. The Shadow had noticed a considerable drop in individuals or groups going after them.
This had puzzled the Shadow at first but after beating up some assassins it learned that now that the targets are older, they stand no chance. The Shadow agreed. Certain recent events have suggested that at least Agnis and one or more of his friends have gotten to a point where random assassins would stand no chance of capturing them.
“He should be 19 years old by now, how time flies.”
Most of the information that was gathered led to dead ends. He was seen one day and after that, it was as if he disappeared, as if he were a ghost. It was annoying but the Shadow also felt a sense of pride.
The Shadow had located an old fisherman.
“Do you want to join us on our fishing boat?”
“I’m sorry, I’m looking for someone, are you familiar with the adventurer named Silver Torrent?”
The old man looked at his colleagues and looked back at the Shadow.
“I did. What a strange yet kind young lad, he had some strange obsession with jumping into the ocean. He helped us several times with fishing. The ugly fish he pointed to us became a hit here in Gavin! It allowed us to buy a better boat and now we are able to reliably catch them!”
“I see, he does have a strange effect on the people around him, do you know where he currently is?”
“Hmm, I do not, you do look suspicious though, you are not planning to assassinate him I hope?”
“Oh, this is just a habit of mine to dress this way, I’m just interested in him.”
“Well, if you find him tell him that the old man in Gavin is looking forward to another fishing trip!”
“I will, thank you for your time.” The Shadow gave the old man 1 silver for his effort and headed over to the AA.
The Shadow looked at all the feats the Silver Torrent had to his name. he even made a new role. The role had only 1 member and it was the Silver Torrent himself. The Shadow smiled and got an idea. The Shadow headed over to the registry for recruits and looked at the thin blonde woman who would be responsible for the process of making the Shadow an adventurer.
“Excuse me, I want to apply to become an adventurer.”
“Uhm, that is fine but you will have to show your face and state your real name.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with how all this works.” The Shadow took off its hood and revealed long blue-silver hair. The shadow also took off its cloak and appeared to be wearing a light green blouse and black leggings. The Shadow was gaining a lot of male attention.
“Wow! I can’t believe you were hiding that behind the cloak! Ehhm can I have your name? And I assume you want the role of Silent Night?”
“Silent Night is the role that’s similar to spies and assassins, right?”
“That is correct.”
“I will go for that role, yes. And my name is Hisui Mikazuki.”
“Your request will be processed; it should be done in 10 minutes. And I have to say, you are pretty.”
“Thank you.” Hisui went to sit down as the receptionist was enviously looking at her figure.
Hisui sighed. “I should have used [Transform] to hide my figure more…”
