Agnisotra: Origin Tails

I was looking at an announcement that had shocked the whole city of Gittrian. The popular idol group Tails of Symphony had revealed their racial identity. The lead singer, Giana Kahlua had revealed that she was a nine-tailed spirit fox, the musician, Noelle Yasmin had revealed that she was a seven-tailed crystal fox and the fashon designer Yvonne Faer had revealed that she was a four-tailed forest rabbit.

I do recognize their last names. Some of Edea’s important figures had those surnames. It’s safe to assume that these are their daughters. They have also escaped the ill fate that befell Hourai. I know about Nathan Kahlua. A merman from the Gemmed Merfolk, which are the single-tailed mythical beasts, was in charge of the treasury of Hourai palace and the water management. It is strange that Giana has his last name. Nine-tailed spirit fox hybrids generally take on the last name of their nine-tailed spirit fox parent. He was a sapphire merman though… I wonder if Giana has inherited some traits from him.

Noelle Yasmin is a problem though. Females are quite rare under her race. Any male seven-tailed crystal wolf will be coming after her. Her father Seth Yasmin had a similar function in Hourai as the Yttroz Industries has here.

The least problematic one is Yvonne Faer. Both her parents were in charge of scouting teams and both were four-tailed forest rabbits.

I hope they know what they are doing…

“So at least 3 spirit foxes and 4 other tailed beasts have escaped Hourai’s fate… I wonder if my father is alright…”

My father, Viridian Mikazuki was in charge of espionage and subterfuge. He occasionally worked with Yvonne’s parents so that’s why I know them. I don’t believe for a second that he’s dead but that might be a problem by itself. I have lost contact with him and never heard of him again. I wish I knew what had happened to Hourai.

At that moment I felt a strange yet familiar mana wave. It felt nostalgic. This mana felt like someone I consider to be my younger brother. Unfortunately, that dynamic had shifted after his mental maturation. I won’t accept a bonding partner who is weaker than me so I pushed him to make sure he would become stronger than me. I sighed

It might have caused him to distance himself from me but I won’t back down on this. Realizing that I had gotten distracted I brought my thoughts back to that mana wave. It feels quite strong but nobody had seemed to notice.

I activated my Elgards Eyes and replayed the last 10 minutes.

Nobody had noticed or reacted. I do know that any nine-tailed fox will be able to feel this but I was unsure if other races might pick up on this.

"So, he is already this strong…"

I was about to fall into a daydream when I realized that this might be a bad sign. We normally cover up the mana burst from reaching this far. Did he get reckless or was it intentional? It is an effective way of alerting all nine tailed spirit foxes nearby, it could attract the attention of deities though…

He is only 1 year old… he’s not ready to fight deities yet.

I looked at the hot news on a large screen hanging from the buildings. I am curious about this idol group but Agnis has the highest priority.

I put adventuring on a hold. I had hoped to get some reputation which would make it easier to meet up with him but I had underestimated the reputation of the Silver Torrent. It did fill me with pride though.

An urgent newsflash appeared on the screen. Everyone gasped as footage got shown of a [Meteor] dropping out of the sky. It was a marvellous [Meteor]. I couldn’t help but smile and be proud. There is no doubt that this is Agnis’ [Meteor]. It then jumped to footage of 10 more [Meteors] dropping at strange angles. Their trajectory seemed to defy physics. It was getting hard to suppress this smile.

So that’s what he did in his nine tailed mode! Whatever he was fighting is most certainly dead now. I headed over toward the AA to gather more information on these idols when I stopped.

Would Agnis make this mana burst travel this far if he was sure to kill his opponent? He is reckless but not this reckless. It must be a cry for help. I ran to the AA, not to collect information but to get all my belongings from my room I had rented there. The news flash showed that this event happened to the east of Igrini kingdom which was extremely far.

I looked at my funds. I might have gone on too many shopping sprees. I was down to 6 silver, not enough to take teleport gates. I would have to get there by foot, merchant caravan or teleports.

I put on my cloak and turned into a figure completely covered in black. It hid my race, face, voice, and body shape. I wish it would fix my weight but nothing I could find could also make me heavier. I prepared a [Dimensional Teleport] to Sichar. I am happy that I don’t have to physically travel most of the distance but from here I had 2 choices. I could go upstream the Aurelia river or I could go by land and walk around the Aurelia mountain range. One option takes a lot of effort while the other takes a lot of time.

I decided to take the Aurelia river. I don’t have a water affinity but I had learned how to at least run over water from Agnis years ago.

The river looked quite wild. I should be able to do this. I jumped in and almost lost balance. I had already been moved dozens of meters downstream while trying to catch my balance. I realized that I might have drowned if I had messed up.

I started running over the water's surface. The progress was slow so I had to augment myself and use wind magic to speed myself up.

The Igrini Kingdom was reached after 30 minutes and I had reached the confluence where the Aurelia river splits into the Aurelia river flowing into Hjuva and the Aquini river going into the Aquini Kingdom. I jumped on dry land and saw a strange sight. A strange hole was where the capital of Igrini kingdom was supposed to be. What is happening in this country? I hope that nothing related to this is after Agnis.
