Pneuma 27: Spirit Mind
I thought about the conversation I had with Raishin. I had also noticed that he went outside of the village and he seemed quite serious. I would think that he would go out and find that chick but he did take his spear. Maybe he is going to vent. I pity whoever finds him or herself at the end of his spear. A serious Raishin is not someone you want to mess with.
We’re doing the less important things, eh?
I thought about everything I did so far. It doesn’t benefit my race at all, maybe it benefits me personally, but it seems the Ichor Pneuma not only restored our spirit tethers, it also made us more resistant to whatever was causing them to snap. The dizziness is extremely infrequent, and I currently have 2 snapped tethers.
I focused and repaired one. This might not be a big issue in the future, so this might not even be beneficial to me.
‘Help those in need’ is popular under the humans. I’m wondering who is more in need, a village who could live without their spirit guardian or a race that is quite close to going extinct. I sighed.
I will finish this spirit vessel and go back to being selfish.
I arrived home and I saw 2 elders on the floor clutching their jaws.
I am wondering when you guys will learn, and were you waiting till I would leave my house?!
I kicked them out of my house and moved on to the next step. I would make the mana ward and mana nodes at the same time. The nodes were easy, the ward is just a barrier. The only thing that is going to make this process take long is trying to be a perfectionist.
I expanded some areas in the magic circuits which created the nodes. I went for several basic barriers. Not only that, but I had already made this mana circuit robust so I could cheap out on the mana ward. It would still be quite effective. 4 months to make the basis, 40 minutes to make the wards and nodes.
Can I do the next step in 4 minutes? Create the mana extractor in 4 minutes?. I infused some frost magic that didn’t interfere with the circuit and made it loop on itself. It would pull in mana from the surroundings. That took me less than 4 minutes. The mana generator and convertor would take a while.
This was so easy. Without Azu’s research this would have been impossible though.
I leaned backward. Was landing in Boshi Town really an accident? There was an extremely high likelihood that we’d all be dead if we’d never had ended up in Boshi town.
The assassins that were looking for us might have found us and killed us or brought us to who knows where. Without Azu’s magic drill session, we would have never been able to infiltrate Event Horizon. We wouldn’t even get in and even if we did, I would have never been able to mess with the teleport systems.
Without Boshi town, we would have known nothing about these stupid gods. I would have never found Tero and never learned dead languages, which would probably have me abandon Dragonvein altogether.
No Dragonvein, no primal language or other ancient languages. I would have never met Azu, so I wouldn’t be able to study mana runes and magic circles. I wouldn’t be able to create this spirit vessel. We would have been dead or nobodies without Boshi town.
I might have to reevaluate our time in Boshi town. We all have experienced it as a shitty place. A shitty place is better than being dead. Maybe what I’m doing is similar. Picking up skills that will greatly influence my future.
It is quite scary to think that my actions might not be mine, but that fate is dictating everything. But it has kept us alive so far. I think I will play along with fate for a bit longer.
The ‘Mind’ was finished 2 days later after I had connected the mana repair system with the Immune system of the ‘Body’. I went to bring the good news to Bywen
All the components are ready. We just have to put them together with alchemy. It has been over a year but the end is finally in sight. The burden has lifted and I am finally freed!
“That is wonderful, I want to again extend my thanks to you. I wish I could do more for you…”
It is fine. I have realized that this might be an important event that will help me in the future.
“Just know that if you ever need something in the future, I will do my best to help out.”
I know you will, you’re a spirit after all and you have lived under elves for ages, it’s hard to come by a more trustworthy individual.
“Do you have an estimation on when this process will be completed?”
Well… alchemy is a dead science. There are not many that practice it in the field that we need to use. Greg has come up with nothing so we might have to find someone who knows about this. We might have to leave the village for an extended amount of time.
“I see. There are no restrictions on you anymore. You may leave whenever you want. Just be careful.”
Thank you, I will.
I was free! It did cost me more than a year, though. I wondered if Neia has found Hourai yet. Would it be that easy? I hope so.
I went back home to celebrate with Nilah. She was still small because she didn’t have many opportunities to steal mana. We haven’t been in combat situations for a long time, and when I did, I had her use [Kryokym]. Maybe it is time to get into trouble again. I made various types of ice cream and ate it all! Just Nilah and I!
