Chapter 58 - My Pet Goddess
“Wu Chen!!”
Hearing this name, Luo Li’s heart suddenly trembled.
Wu Chen! How could she possibly forget this name, so deeply etched into her very being!
Sealed memories surged into her mind like a tide.
“Morning Star, tell me your true name. In exchange, I’ll tell you mine.”
One late night, in the Dragon Care Center in Dawn City, Wu Chen was using a cloth and clean water to wipe down the pristine white jade-like scales of the massive dragon in front of him.
The Dragon Goddess swayed her tail gently in comfort, her expression suggesting she had made some kind of decision as she spoke.
“My true name? Why are you asking that all of a sudden?”
“After all the battles we’ve fought, I… I feel that you’ve earned the right to officially become my battle partner, so I want to upgrade our contract. For that upgrade, we need to know each other’s true names.”
“Upgrade?”
Wu Chen continued wiping the dragon’s body, his hands and cloth moving towards the middle.
“Ah! Don’t…!”
The dragon’s body trembled, and she let out an embarrassed, soft moan.
“I’ve cleaned you this many times, why are you still acting like this?”
“Besides, you’re in your dragon form now, not your human form. What’s there to be shy about?”
Wu Chen was exasperated.
“Maybe to you, but to me, it feels the same whether I’m in dragon form or human form!” the Dragon Goddess shyly scolded.
In Wu Chen’s eyes, he was simply cleaning a dragon’s body.
But in the Dragon Goddess’ mind, it was no different from Wu Chen intimately caressing her.
“So, what’s this upgrade about?”
Wu Chen asked, trying to steer the conversation back on track as he waxed the dragon.
“There are two types of Dragon Knight contracts. One is temporary, where both sides can freely switch between different mounts and riders. This contract is just a temporary agreement. The dragon can switch riders, and the rider can choose other dragons, so occasionally, riders try to steal each other’s mounts.”
“The other is a lifetime contract. Once signed, the dragon and rider are bound together. The dragon can only be ridden by this one rider for life, and the rider can only ride this one dragon.”
“I… I want to sign the second type of contract with you.”
The Dragon Goddess, her face flushed, mustered all her courage to speak.
“So I’ve been on a trial period this whole time? I’m just a temp?”
Wu Chen teased.
“Just tell me whether you’re going to sign or not!”
“Of course I’ll sign. Why wouldn’t I sign such a great deal? But you actually want to sign a lifetime contract with me, huh? I guess you really enjoy being ridden by me, don’t you?”
Wu Chen proudly stroked the dragon’s smooth back.
“Yes, it’s true, I do enjoy it, and your riding skills are excellent.”
“But don’t get the wrong idea. Signing this lifetime contract doesn’t mean I have feelings for you or that I acknowledge you.”
“I just think that binding us together is beneficial for both the dragon race and the human race!”
The Dragon Goddess stammered, clearly flustered.
“Yeah, yeah, I get it. My cute and tsundere pet is still as adorable as ever.”
Wu Chen smiled as he caressed the Dragon Goddess’ face.
“Hey! I’m not your pet!”
“I know, it’s just that’s how it shows up on my end.”
Wu Chen sighed helplessly.
For some reason, despite being a goddess, since she had become his mount as part of his secondary profession as a Dragon Knight, she wasn’t listed in the companion interface of his system, but rather in the pet and mount interface.
Having a goddess as a pet—just the thought of it was thrilling.
“Anyway, enough about that. How do we sign this contract?”
Wu Chen asked eagerly.
The current contract was ultimately because the goddess valued the reputation of the dragon race, so she was willing to sign on as his mount.
If she wanted to leave, she could just walk away anytime—there was no binding force.
Only by signing the lifetime contract, which would enhance all attributes, would he truly be considered a Dragon Knight!
“It’s simple. You tell me your true name, and I’ll tell you mine. Then, we each engrave the first character of the other’s name in the place where life flows out, and the rest of the name where the body bears all its weight.”
“This symbolizes that we each belong to one another.”
“I am your possession, and you are mine,” the Dragon Goddess said with a refined tone.
“Uh… what’s the ‘place where life flows out’ and the ‘place that bears all weight’?” Wu Chen scratched his head, completely puzzled.
It sounded so sophisticated.
“Ahem, the place where life flows out is… there. Just write nearby. I recommend the inner thigh. And the place that bears all weight is… is your butt,” the Dragon Goddess explained, her face flushing in embarrassment as if she wished to bury herself in a hole.
“That’s a pretty awkward place,” Wu Chen said, his mouth twitching slightly.
To write on the inner thigh… If my last name were Zheng, that would be really awkward.
“So, are you going to do it or not?” The Dragon Goddess asked anxiously, a mix of nervousness and anticipation.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I?”
Wu Chen said as he started removing his armor. After all, you couldn’t engrave names with your clothes on, right?
It was during this contract that she saw Wu Chen’s true face for the first time.
That face had once been permanently engraved in her heart, but after the betrayal of Morning Star, she had forced herself to forget it.
Until just now, the name “Wu Chen” had unlocked those sealed memories.
Wu Chen! Wu Chen!
The memory flashed to yesterday’s scene of Wu Chen comforting her with a lollipop, making her feel incredibly ironic.
No wonder that man felt so familiar, so warm, yet also so painful.
Because he was Morning Star! My former master, my former lover!
And now, my traitor and enemy!
This time, I will not let you go! I will never let you escape again!
The flames of fury burned fiercely in the heart of the Dragon Goddess Luo Li.
For the sake of the human race, for the goddess, and for myself—I’ll imprison you forever in the Dragon Clan’s sacred grounds, where you’ll endure my interrogation and torment, day and night!
