Chapter 15: Return
Chapter 15: Return
A striking scene was happening on the streets at the moment. Under the blazing sun a person wearing an Ultraman costume was running down the streets. He was inevitably attracting the shocked looks from people all around sweat was madly exuding out of his body.
They hadnt caught up to me right? Mhm Im certain no one has followed me up to here.
Running after impersonating someone else sure is thrilling!
Ji Bai scanned the surroundings and went into the toilets hastily undoing his crossdrecostume. In order to prevent Manda from chasing after his tracks he had unleashed his full capabilities in horsepower and had sprinted in the opposite direction back and forth a few times following after he squeezed his way into the basement of a department store. Only when he had determined that no one had managed to follow him did he remove his outfit place them in a plastic bag and walk out in a nonchalant manner.
This systematic way of dealing with complications wasnt something out of the blue for Ji Bai. In fact his actions were actually pretty refined as he went about his steps. However this proficiency came with a price; It was also why Ji Bai was usually the last one at the scene whenever a calamity struck in the past. At the moment when other knights would be rushing towards the scene Ji Bai would still be looking all over the place for a toilet to worm his way into.
The peculiarity of Ji Bais holy ability had ordained him to a life of anonymity in public while the luxurious sealed armor made up of pure holy particles was the executioner; it was the one that had severed that possibility off completely.
It was evident that the younger generations of knights were clearly more popular in public than he was. They had abilities as gorgeous as fireworks they would shout out the names of the killer moves they made and would deliberately make pretentious poses whenever they killed a demon.
Because Ji Bai wouldnt shout out his moves nor go out of his way to make those dashing moves. The time they took to make those actions was enough for him to chop down a group of demon soldiers on the battlefield.
However obscurity was also the outcome that Ji Bai had wanted. Rather than have a gorgeous and flashy appearance hed rather appear when someone needed him he also didnt wish for anyone to intrude upon his life.
Ji Bai who had now taken off his costume walked out of the department store and quickened his pace. After rechecking his surroundings once more and making sure that it was clear of any passersby he leisurely walked into the small alleyway.
The buddy who he had borrowed the costume from was peacefully sleeping with his hands together. Ji Bai was very certain he wouldnt be waking up today; After all the hypnotism he used would normally last for a day.
Ji Bai gently stooped down in the buddys direction and performed a deep prayer. He was grateful for the contribution and sacrifice this warmhearted guy was willing to offer for his city and his people. He then placed the costume into his arms and threw him out of the small alley after ensuring that the coast was clear.
Although pedestrians on this specific street were extremely sparse Ji Bai firmly believed that such a nice guy would definitely receive the care and protection of God Even if no passerby would find him he resolutely believed that such a nice guy wouldnt just up and die if he doesnt eat or drink for a day.
After forming another praying gesture towards the alley exit Ji Bai entered another small alley. Heaps of garbage were around it was probably because there was no one around to manage it the filth filled the area and exuded a stagnant foul odor.
When it came to handling the matter of the young catgirl Ji Bai wasnt merciless enough to abandon and leave her to her own devices. However logically speaking his holy ability wasnt meant for healing nor was he running some sort of special veterinarian association. Just by himself his power was limited; Even if he could rescue and take care of her for now he couldnt guarantee he could continue to do so for the rest of her life.
Ji Bai couldnt care much for matters that laid beyond the scope of his obligations. In truth the fate of this young catgirl belonged in this category too; It was simply a matter of him being under the influence of sympathy and mercy that he wasnt willing to just let the cat girl die in front of him.
As he was immersed in his thoughts Ji Bai arrived at the corner alleyway. To his surprise he heard a few soft voices that were clearly not from the catgirl
As he stood about at the corner and was just about to enter Ji Bais pupils suddenly tightened. He then hurriedly retracted his right foot.
It couldnt be Has she already been discovered by the people from the Sacred Martial Association? if thats the case what should I do now? Should I take advantage of the fact that Im still undetected and slip away? or
Friend since you made the effort to come here dont act shy and hide. Why not come in and introduce yourself? Just when Ji Bai was at a loss on what to do the gentle yet flat voice of a middle-aged man seeped out from around the corner.
?? Did he discover me?
After hearing the voice come from within the alley Ji Bai slightly knitted his eyebrows. After a moment of hesitation he finally made a decision and turned around the corner.
Nyaa nyan nyaa~ nyaa~ Just when Ji Bai entered the corner a young puerile voice that carried a trace of excitement echoed out.
Looks like this child likes you a lot. The cherry colored cat-girl had really obediently listened to Ji Bais words and didnt leave her spot. However there was now a cultured and elegant middle-aged man and a woman with a cold and fierce expression by her side. They were wearing a fitting suit and an A-line skirt respectively.
And you are? After checking on the catgirl who was busily playing with the ball of wool that had no problems Ji Bai squinted his eyes. No matter if it were novels or television dramas characters who wore the same attire as the guy in front of him had never played the role of the good guy. This had subconsciously brought a sense of vigilance to Ji Bais eyes.
