Chapter 80: Fabric maniac
Failing the surprise attack, Lamel's pupils flickered for moments, which Rain didn't miss, delivering a powerful kick with his foot and knocking his opponent back a few meters.
Without letting him come to his senses, Rain tore towards him again, continuing to watch his opponent's movements.
...!
Suddenly his keen senses suggested danger from behind.
He made a quick sideways movement to dodge, but before he could do so, he felt something tightly coiled around his body.
Rain found that they were pieces of gray fabric from Lamel's battle suit that he had cut up throughout their previous encounters. In all that time, enough of them had accumulated on the floor to clothe a few people. And now they were tightening around him, beginning to stiffen his limbs and pull him towards his opponent.
'Bloodline Ability'
Rain quickly drew a conclusion from what he saw.
The pressure on his body increased, pulling him even faster against Lamel.
"I'm sorry, but I prefer not to hug men."
Before it could do so, Rain shifted the blazing golden aura from his blade to his body, allowing it to burn away the tenacious gray fabric on him in moments. Nimbly turning his body around, he parried Lamel's blade just in time.
Clang!
They crossed sharpened blades once more. Several more furious clashes followed, the blows of both young men mixing in an uncontrollable swirl of steel, sparks, and aura.
Considering the ability of his opponent's bloodline, Rain further increased the intensity of his aura on his sword. His internal energy released outward in a violent torrent, resonating with his obsidian blade and covering it with an intense golden glow.
Flush!
Every time he struck his opponent, the turbulent golden aura on his blade burned away pieces of gray cloth without a trace, giving him no opportunity to use them further.
Stripped of his trump card and cornered by Rain's frantic onslaught, wounds were accumulating on Lamel's body, but he continued to look for opportunities to turn the fight around.
After a few more collisions, Lamel, who didn't have much remaining stamina, made a desperate attempt. He decided to sacrifice his arm to counterattack him.
The moment Rain's sword was ready to descend upon his body once more, he put out his left hand to hold the furious blade while his right hand was ready to launch a decisive counterattack.
When Lamel found the perfect opportunity to counterattack, he felt something was very wrong. The expected pain in his left arm, which he decided to sacrifice, was not there.
At that moment, Rain's blade, originally aimed at his left arm, curved smoothly, easily bypassing it and severing his neck in one precise strike.
A searing pain shot through his head as Lamel felt his mind go blank and he began to lose consciousness. The last thing he saw was the golden glint reflecting in his enemy's eyes, and then everything went black.
Thud!
As Lamel fell to the ground, his projection glowed an intense black color, heralding the end of the fight. But it was the best possible outcome – if it hadn't been for the projection's protection, his head would have been cut clean off by the sword right now.
"Thank you, it was a good fight."
With a slight smile of thanks to his unconscious opponent, Rain stopped the aura manifestation, and the stormy golden light tightly enveloping the blade gradually dissipated, leaving behind only a plain-looking black sword.
"...Student Rain Winderline wins."
A little belatedly, Instructor Eric announced.
Finished with this fight, Rain went to the exit without too many regrets.
The instructor immediately ran up to Lamel, but did not forget to cast a glance full of respect at the departing young man.
His past boredom was long gone from Eric's eyes, replaced by pure amusement and anticipation. For a moment he was so engrossed in their fight that he almost forgot why he was here and that he had to declare the winner.
Eric Brake didn't take his eyes off the back of the departing young man until he left the room, then began to check on the fallen student's condition.

Walking through the corridors of the academy in high spirits, Rain thought about the match that had just ended. Or rather, what he had gained from it.

'It seems that after this fight, I finally figured out how to control it properly.'
Rain looked at the weapon in his hand.
The entire sword was a deep black obsidian color that irrevocably devoured all light falling on it, and a natural coldness emanated from its surface.
The sword had none of the ornamentation or eye-catching details you would normally expect from a high-quality weapon. It seemed simple, quiet... and deadly.
Although the feeling of foreign discomfort from the sword hadn't completely disappeared, it had become unnoticeable enough to simply ignore it.
He seemed to grow closer with the sword... and the sword with him.
Rain used the status on it, wondering if there would be any changes to it.
[Unknown Sword]
[Type: Weapon]
[Attribute: Space(supreme)]
[Indestructible &%# ?? ##&? ##&&#%#...]
The status window also matched the mystique of the weapon perfectly as before. Unfortunately, it remained unchanged from last time.
Rain shook his head.
"Maybe there's still something missing."
Knowing neither its material, nor its origin, nor the exact principles of its operation, that is, knowing practically nothing, it was difficult to know what to do with it.
But rereading the status again, Rain dismissed those thoughts and smiled.
"Either way, I'm one step closer to realizing its full potential."
Deciding that sooner or later he would find his own way to it, he left the matter at that.
As he continued on his way, Rain suddenly felt tension down below. And this time, to his surprise, it wasn't his cock, but his stomach.
Only then did he realize how hungry he was now.
So, quickly determining his next destination, he walked towards the dining hall.
