After Reincarnation, the Fake Young Master Begs the Sinister Boss for Forgiveness

Chapter 35: Old Mr. Chu Thinks He Made the Right Match

Chapter 35: Old Mr. Chu Thinks He Made the Right Match

Su Mu got his definitive answer, confirming his suspicions.

This meant that in his previous life, it wasn’t as the Su family claimed – that the Chu family forced him to marry Chu Hanting. Nor was the Su family forcing him to marry Chu Hanting just for that billion yuan.

This made things intriguing. Su Mu suddenly felt the situation becoming more mysterious.

There must be other reasons behind the Su family’s actions.

He needed to investigate!

In this life, he was determined that both he and Chu Hanting would be well. He had to find and eliminate all threats.

“Ah, it’s a pity you still don’t fancy my grandson.”

Old Mr. Chu’s sigh pulled Su Mu from his thoughts.

“That’s not true! How could that be? Hanting is wonderful.”

Su Mu instinctively protested upon hearing Old Mr. Chu’s words, not wanting him to misunderstand.

“Oh? Then what did you mean earlier? I thought you wanted to reject the marriage but worried about the Su family losing the funding.”

“Well then,” Old Mr. Chu became interested, wanting to know the young man’s thoughts, “what exactly do you think of Hanting?”

Su Mu’s face instantly turned red.

Nothing was settled yet – how could he suddenly be asked such a question by his potential family?

Should he admit his feelings for Chu Hanting? Would it be too soon?

Would he seem impetuous?

Would Old Mr. Chu think he was just talking casually, without sincerity?

Su Mu’s face showed his inner turmoil, his cheeks growing even redder, like a ripe apple.

As an experienced elder, Old Mr. Chu could read between the lines. With no negative comments and such a reaction, how could he not understand the young man’s feelings?

It seemed his casual matchmaking might actually work out.

Old Mr. Chu smiled knowingly, “Good, good. My grandson only has eyes for work, he’ll never make the first move. You’ll have to put in some effort. Grandpa will try to create opportunities for you both. Hahaha!”

This made Su Mu even more embarrassed; he could only respond with a shy smile.

After this interlude, Su Mu returned to Lanshan Gardens, where his ordered furniture had arrived and been installed by the workers.

Su Mu stood by the bed’s edge, then fell backward onto the soft mattress, staring at the ceiling, thinking: Finally, I can get a good night’s sleep today.

On stage, the young man wore a trendy hoodie and loose pants with metal chains that swayed as he moved. Despite his height, he had a baby face. He held the microphone in one hand while his other hand moved with the rhythm, skillfully engaging the crowd.

Like a true college student, his eyes held a pure, naive look without any cynicism. He appeared refreshingly innocent. Even in this atmosphere of alcohol and debauchery, singing rock music, he still radiated a unique brilliance.

Earlier, Su Mu had looked at his phone and realized it was getting late. He needed to eat dinner before heading to Moonlight Bar.

Today was his scheduled piano performance day. With his current tight finances, he couldn’t afford to lose this well-paying job.

Besides, playing piano was his passion, and the bar was his first small stage. Later, he would perform on bigger stages. This was good practice and experience – killing two birds with one stone.

When he arrived at the bar, Gao Yang was singing on stage. Su Mu calculated that today was Gao Yang’s part-time day – Su Mu worked Thursdays while Gao Yang worked every other day, so they overlapped every two weeks.

Before his performance time, Su Mu went to the back room to change into his performance clothes.

At the bar entrance, Manager Wang rushed to greet Shang Guan Fan as soon as he arrived.

“Boss, Mr. Smith is already here on the second floor. He’s had quite a lot to drink before your arrival and seems somewhat drunk.”

“Heh, this fool seems to have forgotten he’s here for business, treating this place like entertainment,” Shang Guan Fan sneered. “When Old Chu arrives, give him some sobering soup. We can’t have him too drunk to speak properly and delay things.”

Manager Wang acknowledged this while attending to Shang Guan Fan.

As they walked deeper inside, the bar’s noise grew louder. The atmosphere at the center was lively with drums and singing, people instinctively swaying to the rhythm, creating a spectacular scene.

But Shang Guan Fan was long used to such scenes at his own bar. He felt no novelty and didn’t get an adrenaline rush like these drunken patrons.

However, the clear, flowing singing voice made him pause and look toward center stage.

“A new person?”

Manager Wang immediately responded, “Yes, hired along with the pianist. They’re schoolmates. Both showed potential so I kept them on.”

Shang Guan Fan’s lips curved upward, “Good hire. Very clear voice.”

Hearing this, Manager Wang immediately fawned in agreement, taking the opportunity to praise Gao Yang further.

Whatever the boss said must be right, and if the boss gave praise, he naturally followed suit.

After all, since he had hired them, if they caught the boss’s eye, he deserved some credit too.

A good leader and an excellent subordinate don’t have to be at odds – smart people choose win-win situations.

And he was certainly a smart manager.

After Shang Guan Fan entered the second-floor private room where Smith was, Manager Wang automatically withdrew.

“How much has he drunk in such a short time?” Shang Guan Fan pinched his nose, overwhelmed by the strong smell of alcohol.

Kicking aside empty bottles on the floor, he sat at the other end of the sofa.

He watched Smith embracing people on both sides – a woman on his left, a man on his right – completely lost in pleasure.

This old fool – if Old Chu wasn’t interested in cooperating with his company, he wouldn’t let someone like this in to harass his models.

With vulgar talk filling his ears, Shang Guan Fan felt uncomfortable and stood to leave. Better to wait for Old Chu and come back together.

He mentally noted these two models, planning to arrange extra compensation for them.

They really deserved it.

Smith didn’t care about Shang Guan Fan’s departure – he was enjoying himself and preferred no outside interruptions.

As for business? Heh, his presence alone was doing them a favor. Others always begged to cooperate with the Smith family, while he easily manipulated them all.

Gao Yang had just finished his work, dripping with sweat, and headed to the break room for a shower.

The bar’s rest area was very accommodating, with multiple changing stalls, a row of makeup stations with mirrors, and shower rooms.
