After my divorce, I started to have good luck

Chapter 275: Life Is Full of Encounters

"You really are someone who forgets easily. We met at the beginning of the year and had a great conversation."

The woman laughed, her tone cheerful.

Chen Feng was taken aback for a moment, thought for a while, then suddenly had a flash of insight and immediately asked, "Are you Lu Sijia?"

Lu Sijia was someone he met at the airport when he returned to Lu City from Guang City at the beginning of the year. Since they were fellow townsfolk and on the same flight, they chatted quite a bit along the way. After arriving in Lu City, they even added each other on WeChat as friends, but neither of them had contacted each other since then.

In his memory, Lu Sijia seemed to be the boss of an entertainment company. Little did he know, by coincidence, that the person Zhao Guoqing introduced through an intermediary was her.

It just goes to show that the world is indeed small.

"Haha, at least you remember my name; otherwise, I'd be heartbroken," Lu Sijia said with a smile. "But since you've reached out to me, don't you know my name by now?"

Chen Feng explained somewhat awkwardly, "I contacted someone who knew you through another person. Two people were involved before me, so I only knew your surname was Lu, that you were the boss of a film and television production company, and that you recently resigned. As for your full name and your previous company, I hadn't had the chance to ask yet. But I remember your previous company seemed to be called Zijinteng, right? Didn't you found it? Why did you stop working there?"

After hearing Chen Feng's explanation, Lu Sijia understood. She had a good impression of Chen Feng, and since they were fellow townsfolk, she didn't intentionally hide anything and straightforwardly said, "Although I founded Zijinteng, I didn't own a large share of it because I didn't have much capital at the time, only an 18% stake. There were three other shareholders, and two of them held 70% of the shares. I had major disagreements with these two shareholders about the company's development direction, so I had no choice but to resign and leave."

"Oh, can you tell me what the main disagreements were?" Chen Feng asked with some interest.

Lu Sijia replied candidly, "The main disagreements were over focusing on the development of TV dramas versus movies, and differences in choosing film and TV IPs. I was optimistic about the future development of domestic TV dramas, while they were more confident in movies. On IP selection, although we all knew that adaptations of popular online novels are the best, I preferred more cost-effective original scripts. Additionally, there are some personal reasons I won't bore you with."

"Then come be the general manager at our Fengmang Film and Television Company," Chen Feng said directly, "I sincerely invite you. The monthly salary is temporarily set at 50,000, with a 1% dividend in the first year, increasing by 1% each year until it reaches 10%. There will also be other performance bonuses at the end of the year, depending on the situation."

Lu Sijia laughed, "Your sincerity seems a bit lacking. At my own company, I had an annual salary of 800,000, plus extra project commissions."

Chen Feng also laughed and said, "Then I'll give you a similar package, but there won't be any stock dividends."

"In that case, I still want stock dividends. But a 1% starting point is too low; it should be at least 5%. If that's agreeable, I'd be interested in working for you."

After thinking for a moment, considering that Lu Sijia's previous company managed to successfully produce a popular drama like "Immortal Destiny," plus Zhao Guoqing introduced her through a reliable intermediary, her work capability shouldn't be an issue. Coupled with their enjoyable chat on the airplane last time and them being hometown fellows, Chen Feng no longer hesitated.

"Alright! Let's go with what you said. How about coming to sign the contract and take the position tomorrow?"

"Ah, you really agreed?" Lu Sijia seemed slightly surprised.

"Of course. I know you're talented, and it's rare that we already know each other and are hometown fellows. Report for work tomorrow."

"Can I delay for a few days? I just got back to my hometown and want to take a good rest," Lu Sijia said somewhat unwillingly.

"You have to keep your word. I've offered such good conditions, and our company is up and running. We can't do without a general manager like you."

"Aren't you the boss, though? Boss, can you give me just one more week? I need to wrap up things at Zijinteng before coming to work for your company."

"A week is too long, just three days. I can give you three days at most, or it will be hard to carry out some of my business operations."

"...Alright then, three days it is. I'll try to conclude matters at Zijinteng and then report to work. We added each other on WeChat before, right? Don't tell me you've deleted me. Send me the company's specific address later."

"Of course not, I've kept you. I'll send a location to you later."

"Great."

"It's settled then, no more than three days. I hope to see you in three days."

"Of course, I keep my promises."

After making an agreement, they didn't continue chatting. After hanging up the phone, Chen Feng noticed a few people nearby looking at him curiously, so he briefly explained.

Zhao Guoqing commented, "That's quite coincidental. It seems fate has destined her to be the general manager at Fengmang Film and Television Company. President Lu's work ability is unquestionable. The hot drama 'Immortal Destiny' was one of her projects, and she single-handedly made Zhang Jingwen popular. She has a great reputation in the industry."

Wu Mengting looked at Chen Feng with a slightly scrutinizing gaze but didn't say much after he met her eyes with composure.

The general manager candidate was officially finalized, so there's no rush for filling the other currently vacant positions.

At the company meeting on Monday, all staff attended, including the five artists previously signed with New Bright Film and Television. They had mostly been left to fend for themselves, except for the oldest female artist, who at least had a personal assistant.

The other four young signed artists didn't even have a small assistant. They had to find work on their own but lacked connections or an agent to bridge opportunities, so they couldn't find much lucrative work and could only take short-term gigs. Additionally, the company had delayed paying their salaries for two to three months, making their lives quite difficult. The situation was especially tough for the two young female artists who could barely afford their rent, while their families were pressing for marriage, causing them some distress.

Fortunately, when they almost had to yield to family pressure, New Bright Film and Television was taken over, and they became contracted artists with Fengmang Film and Television. Their overdue salaries were finally paid, offering them some relief. This time they were summoned to meet the new company, not just to meet their new boss and colleagues, but also to sign supplemental contracts with Fengmang Film and Television.

Although they're now members of Fengmang Film and Television, they are clearly different from the newly recruited employees.

During the company meeting, they merely introduced themselves like everyone else and didn't need to say more or make speeches.
