After my divorce, I started to have good luck

Chapter 251: A Weary Liu Ying

"This is my college classmate, Liu Ying. This is Wu Mengting, my sworn sister, and this is Sun Xiaorui."

Chen Feng briefly introduced the three.

Liu Ying was the first to react, greeting the two women graciously: "Hello, nice to meet you."

"Hello!"

"Hello!"

Sun Xiaorui and Wu Mengting both had smiles on their faces and nodded to her with laughter.

"Alright, come over and sit with us."

Chen Feng invited Liu Ying to come over and sit on the couch.

"Liu Ying became interested after knowing I live here and decided to come by for a look. By the way, her aunt's house is right across from our front gate. Isn't that a coincidence?"

With this statement, the expressions of the two women relaxed slightly, understanding that Chen Feng obviously didn't plan to have Liu Ying move in as well.

As for whether there was something between Chen Feng and Liu Ying, the likelihood was high — it was a woman's intuition.

"It really is quite a coincidence," Wu Mengting said with a smile, "Did you guys unexpectedly reunite here at Red Villa Bay?"

Hearing this, Chen Feng couldn't help but smile. He had already assumed that Liu Ying saw him here earlier, which prompted her determined efforts to contact him after years of silence. Indeed, Wu Mengting's words hit the nail on the head.

Liu Ying had a flicker of discomfort on her face but maintained a calm tone: "No, that's not the case. I've been living abroad for the past few years and, like Chen Feng, had a failed marriage. I divorced a few months ago and returned to China. One day, reflecting on the first half of my life, I found myself a failure, especially in terms of relationships.

You might not know, but shortly after the start of our freshman year, Chen Feng began pursuing me. He chased me for over half a year, from the first semester to the second semester of our freshman year. I was moved and planned to be his girlfriend. But due to the interference of some malicious people, rumors and defamation led me to misunderstand him, causing us to miss each other.

So, after my marriage failed, upon returning to China, I suddenly thought of Chen Feng — thought of that period I spent with him. Then I couldn't help but wonder often, if those malicious interferers hadn't been there, if I had set aside my reservations back then and formally dated Chen Feng, what would the future be like? Would I be happily living with him now?

So, one day, I couldn't resist finding a way to get Chen Feng's contact information and reconnect with him. I hope we can start anew and revive the bond that was severed back then."

After listening to her heartfelt confession, the three of them were momentarily at a loss for words. Sun and Wu were both inwardly contemptuous yet slightly moved by her audacity, and if what she said was true, it indeed had some poignancy.

However, Chen Feng knew there was more to the story — a crucial part being that Liu Ying saw him living here and realized he was now wealthy. Otherwise, she certainly wouldn't have been so proactive in contacting him, nor would they have gone to bed together upon reuniting.

Honestly though, seeing Liu Ying confess openly in front of Sun and Wu felt like a boost to his vanity.

"Liu Ying, you're making this difficult for me. I can't fully accept your feelings at once. Now, I don't even know how to define my relationship with you."

Chen Feng's words were articulate yet a bit callous.

From a female perspective, they'd slept together, met the woman's family, and yet he spoke like this, clearly exhibiting an unwillingness to assume responsibility.

Hearing Chen Feng's response, Liu Ying felt quite disappointed. She had been eager to make this declaration in front of Sun and Wu primarily to press Chen Feng into acknowledging their relationship and also partly to assert dominance over Sun Xiaorui.

Unfortunately, Chen Feng's words shattered the romantic ambiance she had tried to create.

"Your words are fascinating. But it's a shame and regrettable that you missed my brother back then. College love is much purer than that in the adult world; you can ignore someone's family background if you fall in love. For some girls, even if a guy's family is poor or his academic performance isn't good, they might still fall for him.

But after graduating and stepping into society, such girls become rarer because they quickly realize that life isn't just romance but about managing daily life as well. Many girls, including myself, start to emphasize material aspects. So, if my brother now were a broke young man, would you still consider rekindling your past relationship?"

Wu Mengting spoke realistically and directly. Her expression, a mix of smile and seriousness, made Liu Ying harbor a secret resentment.

Before coming here, her biggest concern and guard were against Sun Xiaorui, the woman Chen Feng pampered, but she realized Wu Mengting, the sworn sister, was the one she should truly be wary of.

"I'm not someone who values materialism too heavily. Otherwise, during my divorce with my ex-husband, I wouldn't have settled for only a small portion of assets. Of course, I don't deny that I'd hope for a partner to have some economic foundation. When I reconnected with Chen Feng, his financial situation was never a consideration because the most important thing when being with someone is mutual affection and emotions.

Material aspects are important but not the most crucial. It's like the old saying goes, 'Easily found are invaluable treasures; hard to find is a sincere lover.' Plus, I have great faith in Chen Feng's abilities. Even back in university, he always found ways to earn money — he was a very smart young man. Therefore, I believe that now Chen Feng isn't doing too badly, and even if he is, it's just temporary, and I would be there to face hardships with him."

Upon hearing Liu Ying's response, Wu Mengting and Sun Xiaorui exchanged glances, seeing the caution towards Liu Ying reflected in each other's eyes.

It was Wu Mengting who continued, piercing into Liu Ying's discomfort: "Seems you are set on my brother. But it's unfortunate that my brother said he won't marry again within the next two years; did he tell you that?"

Liu Ying felt frustrated inside but maintained a calm facade, nodding: "He did. I can wait."

Upon hearing this, Wu Mengting's lips curled into a slight disdainful smile. Not to mention that Chen Feng had a terminal illness with a year or two remaining, even if he didn't, she believed Chen Feng wouldn't take her seriously.

It was simple — Wu Mengting could tell from Chen Feng's earlier remarks and demeanor that he was mostly just playing with Liu Ying, similar to Lin Yujiao's extent, rather than forming genuine affection, let alone marrying her.

Having understood this, Wu Mengting suddenly let go of her hostility and guard against Liu Ying because she had seen through Liu Ying's realities.

"Your courage is commendable. However, you might not necessarily succeed."

After calmly asserting this, Wu Mengting stood up, adopting a hostess manner, and asked, "Do you prefer tea, coffee, or other drinks?"
