After Marrying the Officer

Chapter 565: Master Recognizes Relatives

Hearing Master Xia Chuyi's words, Mrs. Gu hurriedly said, "No, sister, if you hadn't left, allowing me and Jiaye to be together, I wonder what my life would have been like now?"

"With Jiaye, no matter how difficult it is, no matter how much suffering I endure, I'm willing."

In Mrs. Gu's eyes, there shone a different kind of light.

"You!" said the Master, shaking her head as she listened.

The two old sisters then embraced each other and began to cry.

Xia Chuyi, feeling the sourness in her nose, withdrew from the room.

Inside the room, the Master and Mrs. Gu were putting on a touching drama of family reunion, but outside, Professor Bao and Old Sir Guan were in a completely different situation.

Professor Bao was still acting indifferent, wearing reading glasses and flipping through a book.

Old Sir Guan sat upright, glancing at Professor Bao from time to time, wanting to speak but stopping himself.

"Ahem." After a prolonged silence, Old Sir Guan finally said, "Hello, Bao, Bao Jiaye, I am Gu Xiu Fang's husband."

"Mhm, I know." Upon hearing Mr. Guo speak, Professor Bao looked up calmly and said, "You are the one who, back then, persuaded Gu Xiu Fang to elope with you."

Old Sir Guan: "...Back then, Xiu Fang and I, we were freely in love, and we did nothing wrong."

It was indeed rare for Xia Chuyi to see her master so nervous.

Professor Bao's eyebrows furrowed slightly as he spoke, "As for you two admiring each other, I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

Professor Bao paused, then put down the book he was holding and continued, "However, if Gu Xiu Fang was unwilling, she should have told me directly."

"I would have intervened on her behalf with the Gu Family, so there would have been no need for you two to elope."

"Then Xiu Zhi wouldn't have had to marry in her sister's stead, under the guise of replacing her."

"In essence, your intentions were not wrong, but the actions you ultimately took are questionable."

Old Sir Guan, having been self-righteous for so many years, suddenly slumped his shoulders, with no response.

"Right, am I not..." Old Sir Guan was about to apologize, but then he lifted his eyes and saw Xia Chuyi coming out of the room, and he immediately withdrew his words.

"Ahem, fortunately, in the end, we all ended up living well," Old Sir Guan said earnestly.

"Mhm." Professor Bao nodded in agreement.

Seeing Professor Bao nod, Old Sir Guan breathed a sigh of relief and then greeted Xia Chuyi, "Chuyi, have you come out?"

"How are your Master and Mrs. Gu doing now?"

Xia Chuyi smiled, pretending not to have heard the conversation between her master and Professor Bao, and replied, "They're doing well, Mrs. Gu and I were just catching up."

"Oh, oh, that's good, that's good," Old Sir Guan said hurriedly and nodding assent.

Afterwards, there was no more talking in the room.

Professor Bao continued reading his book, while Old Sir Guan's eyes were fixed on the door of the room where the master and Mrs. Gu were.

Xia Chuyi shook her head, thinking: The two of them together, this is really awkward.

After a moment of thought, Xia Chuyi said, "Professor, I'm going to the kitchen to help Mrs. Gu make some Medicinal Food."

Having said that, she headed to the kitchen.

This was the scene in Professor Bao's home at the time.

Though tinged with sadness and awkwardness, overall, it was quite heartwarming.

But outside the house, there was another scene entirely.

Jack Jackson, the fake foreigner, and his sister Annie were standing there.

"Jackson, Third Uncle wasn't very friendly to us yesterday. Are you sure he will pay attention to us if we visit him again today?"
