Chapter 5:
Chapter 5: A7!:
Zhou Ming kept scrolling through videos until it was finally lunchtime.
After grabbing a quick meal at the staff cafeteria, he headed straight to the nearby Audi 4S dealership.
Inside the Audi showroom, several cars were on display—including the exact model he wanted to buy.
“Hello, sir! Welcome to the Audi 4S dealership. How can I assist you today?”
Before Zhou Ming could even admire the cars, a sales consultant enthusiastically approached him.
To his disappointment, it was a male consultant. His excitement dipped a little.
Zhou Ming scanned the showroom and finally set his eyes on the Audi A7.
“Do you have the Audi A7 in stock?”
“Of course we do, sir.”
As soon as the consultant heard him mention the A7, his enthusiasm doubled.
“Everyone says 4S dealerships are filled with beautiful saleswomen, so why is it a guy helping me today?” Zhou Ming muttered to himself. But when he laid eyes on that sleek, black “Dark Knight”-like A7, all his complaints vanished.
He walked around the A7, taking in every angle, and nodded in satisfaction.
“This is it. I’ll take it. Full payment.”
The sales consultant nearly jumped with excitement and bowed deeply. “Of course, sir. I’ll start the paperwork for you right away!”
With someone spending money this easily, he figured Zhou Ming must be one of those rich second gens—and he’d be sure to serve him well.
Zhou Ming pulled out his bank card and gave it a light swipe—just like that, 560,000 yuan was gone.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, Host, on purchasing your first car. Reward: 1,000,000 yuan in cash.]
[Reminder: completing achievements earns system rewards.]
“Nice!”
Zhou Ming was beyond satisfied with the system—it was like getting a car for free.
“This Audi A7 really lives up to its name.”
After going through the lengthy car pickup process, Zhou Ming spent another 300,000 to get a license plate registered in Magic City.
License plate restrictions in Magic City? That only applied to ordinary folks.
For the wealthy, there was nothing money couldn’t solve.
After parking the car, Zhou Ming walked into the company building. As he entered the office, he happened to see Jiang Peipei organizing some files.
“Sister Pei, you’re looking radiant today. Something good happen?” Zhou Ming teased, though his eyes couldn’t help but wander to her alluring figure.
“Don’t talk nonsense,” she said playfully, but a faint blush still spread across her cheeks.
“Huh? You haven’t eaten yet?” Zhou Ming noticed the untouched lunch box on her desk and asked curiously.
“I’m on a diet.”
“You want it? You can have it.”
She responded half-heartedly, clearly not in the mood.
Zhou Ming quickly picked up on her lack of enthusiasm and dropped the topic.
He casually walked over to her desk and, pretending to look around, glanced at her deliberately. “Sister Pei, with a figure like yours, you don’t need to diet. You’re already slim enough. Be careful or you’ll turn into a paper doll.”
His blunt compliment made her a little flustered.
She looked up and gave him a playful glare with her charming eyes. “You little rascal, always knowing what to say. If you keep staring at me, don’t blame me for hitting you.”
Zhou Ming’s heart stirred.
He leaned in slightly, his lips almost brushing her ear, and whispered, “If you’re really angry, then go ahead and hit me.”
The sudden closeness made Jiang Peipei’s heart skip a beat. She quickly pushed him away, a faint blush rising to her cheeks.
“You brat, getting more and more outrageous.”
Zhou Ming looked at her shy expression and thought to himself:
“Looks like she really does have something on her mind. Could it be the divorce? Judging from her face, it’s probably true.”
“Haha, Sister Pei, I was just joking. Don’t take it seriously.”
Seeing her awkwardness, Zhou Ming laughed it off and changed the subject.
In an office setting, gossip could be fun—but take it too far, and you might hit a nerve.
Back at his desk, Zhou Ming opened his computer, though his mind wasn’t on work at all.
He recalled the gossip he’d heard from coworkers about Jiang Peipei and her husband, a foreign company executive.
Rumor had it their marriage wasn’t as perfect as it seemed on the surface—there were arguments and all kinds of friction behind the scenes.
“Tsk tsk, a figure like Sister Pei’s, and someone’s willing to divorce her?”
Zhou Ming shook his head in disbelief.
With her graceful figure and elegant charm, she really was a rare beauty.
But Zhou Ming also understood—marriage was complicated. You couldn’t judge it just by appearances.
He suppressed the heat in his heart and tried to calm himself down.
“Forget it, it’s none of my business.”
With a sigh, he randomly opened a document and idled until the end of the day.
“Time to clock out. Not doing a minute of overtime.”
He tidied the documents on his desk and wrapped up today’s slacking routine.
As he stepped out of Jingtai Group’s gates, the sky had turned gloomy—and a torrential downpour followed.
“Damn it. Why the sudden downpour?”
“Better call a car now, or there won’t be any left later.”
White-collar workers, soaked to the bone, pulled out their phones to hail rides.
Zhou Ming stood at the entrance, feeling smug.
Good thing he’d had the foresight to buy a car in advance.
“Looks like I bought it just in time.”
As he drove past the Jingtai Building, he spotted a graceful figure holding an umbrella in the rain.
It was Jiang Peipei—her car must have been restricted today, so she didn’t drive.
“Sister Pei, what are you still doing here?”
Zhou Ming drove up beside her and lowered the window.
Hearing the voice, she looked up in surprise and saw Zhou Ming. “Ah, Zhou Ming.”
“I’ll give you a ride. It’s not easy to get a car in this weather.”
She hesitated for a moment, then gratefully nodded.
“That’d be great. Thank you.”
She folded her umbrella and walked over to his car.
“Not bad, Zhou Ming. This car’s pretty nice.”
Once inside, she looked around and admired the new ride.
“Hehe, just a basic commuter car.”
Zhou Ming grinned casually, sneaking glances at her through the rearview mirror.
“If it’s ever raining after work or you don’t feel like driving, just call me. I’ll take you home anytime.”
“Alright, then. Thanks in advance.”
The car started slowly and disappeared into the rainy haze.
“Sister Pei, why didn’t you drive today?”
Zhou Ming asked out of boredom, trying to make conversation.
“License plate restrictions today. Couldn’t drive.”
