Chapter 02
As Wu Su climbed the stairs of Guanlan Pavilion, her footsteps were a little weak.
Fearing that something might go wrong, she leaned against the wall and rested briefly.
The charming and wonderful fragrance in the air constantly invaded her perception, and she walked forward unconsciously.
The reception banquet prepared by Prince Jing for Pei Jiuzhi was almost over, and Pei Jiuzhi was sitting upright on the main seat, looking straight ahead.
His eyes were slightly pale, and after taking off the bamboo hat that covered him, the face he revealed was not like any in the Pei royal family.
He was born extremely handsome, with a pair of noble and cold phoenix eyes, slightly drooping, repelling others thousands of miles away.
The long sword he carried was placed on the table, and the white silk wrapped around the sword hung loose, exposing a bit of the sword’s edge, which made people uneasy.
Pei Juizhi seemed to stand at the top of an insurmountable mountain, overlooking everyone.
The piece of incense has burned all the way out, and the black-robed man holding the incense burner has already left.
The dancers in the hall also put away their sleeves, and walked out of the hall with light lotus steps.
When Wu Su entered the hall, she felt the inexplicable attraction getting stronger and stronger. Her magic power was weak, and she couldn’t resist it.
Originally, Pei Juizhi didn’t notice that something was wrong, but when Wu Su walked in among the maids, the effect of the incense started to show.
His cold eyes narrowed slightly, the inexplicable feeling was weak at first, but now it was slowly growing.
The last dish prepared for today was cold sea bass.
When Wu Su opened the food box, cold air from the ice cubes wrapped around her fingers, making her calm down a bit.
She held the plates steadily and arranged them in order, waiting for the steward’s signal.
Wu Su felt that something was wrong today, she hoped to get things done quickly and then go to rest.
She is still a very immature demon, mostly acting on instinct. She knows that it is dangerous to approach this place, but she can’t resist.
Pei Juizhi raised his handsome eyebrows slightly, and the unfamiliar desire that had just come over him was forcibly suppressed.
Seeing that his expression looked wrong, Prince Jing raised his glass and asked, “Juizhi, what’s the matter, is the food not to your liking?”
In fact, Pei Juizhi had only eaten some light vegetables from the dishes presented by Prince Jing’s mansion today, and did not eat any of the delicacies.
Pei Juizhi’s gaze did not fall on Prince Jing who was talking to him, and he shook his head wordlessly.
“Try the perch pastry, this dish is so delicate, it’s just right to clear your stomach at the end of the meal.” Prince Jing stood up to pour wine for Pei Juizhi.
But he was embarrassed to find that the first glass of wine he had poured earlier was still full, and Pei Juizhi had not taken a single sip.
“Fourth Brother, I don’t drink alcohol.” Pei Juizhi spoke in a deep voice, lowering his eyelashes.
“Then let’s serve the food. Juizhi, will you be resting in Guanlan Pavilion today?”
Pei Juizhi nodded. It’s not that he doesn’t know how to be polite, it’s just that he had gone to the mountains to train with the sword for many years, and he is a little unfamiliar with people.
They were talking at the top of the hall, separated by a screen, and the people below couldn’t hear them at all.
When it was time for the dishes to be served, the leading maid touched Wu Su’s shoulder.
“Why don’t you go up first?” She whispered to Wu Su. “I’m a little scared.”
Pei Juizhi sitting out in the hall was so imposing that they dared not approach him.
“Okay.” Wu Su agreed very simply, as if she was dominated by the desire caused by the incense.
What made her like this? Wu Su was very puzzled, she was only willing to move when she encountered food, when she was very hungry.
That person in the hall is still alive… it should be, not for food… Wu Su thought.
Carrying a plate of sea bass, she walked slowly along behind the silk curtain, and moved towards Pei Juizhi.
The closer she was to the main seat, the stronger she felt the aura that attracted her.
With slightly trembling fingers, she lifted the soft light blue curtain, and her unseeing eyes widened as she sensed Pei Juizhi’s tall silhouette.
His whole body seemed to be wrapped in a layer of mist that isolated him from the outside world, and she couldn’t pinpoint exactly where he was.
Wu Su knew that something was going to happen.
Biting her lip, she put down the plate of perch, and her hand brushed his fingertips that rested on the table.
This was an act of transgression, and Wu Su wanted to withdraw her hand quickly from the cold fingertips of this distinguished guest.
When Wu Su touched Pei Juizhi, the long sword on the table made a faint sharp sound.
Pei Juizhi put his two fingers together, and was about to press on the sword’s body to appease the restless sword aura.
But his outstretched hand grabbed Wu Su’s wrist.
Wu Su felt the mist belonging to Pei Juizhi latching onto her. She was afraid, but she didn’t want to break free from him.
Her fingers were curled up, unmoving.
“How indecent!” Prince Jing said angrily. His view was blocked by Pei Juizhi’s body, and he didn’t understand what had happened, but he knew he needed to hold his subordinates accountable for everything.
“It’s nothing.” Pei Juizhi seemed to be brought back to reality by his words.
He let go of Wu Su’s hand, and happened to meet her black and white eyes.
These are a very special pair of eyes, not beautiful to say the least, but they are ethereal, as if they don’t belong in this world.
Wu Su didn’t notice that Pei Juizhi was looking at her, so she bowed her head, lifted the soft veil, and walked out.
The round pearls hanging from her earrings swayed.
Behind the curtain, Wu Su pressed her hand against the wall, feeling a little scared. When she got close to Pei Juizhi, she had almost been unable to move.
She lowered her head, sweat forming on her forehead, and clenched her hands into fists, and kept a steady pace as she walked out.
Pei Juizhi picked up the silver chopsticks, took a piece of the sea bass served by Wu Su, and put it in his mouth.
He bit into the fresh and tender fish, and he ate slowly as the rich flavour of spices entered his mouth.
“Fourth Brother, we can relax for today, I’m going to rest.” Pei Juizhi only tasted a single bite, then stood up holding the sword.
“I understand Juizhi, no one will disturb you tonight.” Prince Jing assured him.
After a moment, the hustle and bustle of Guanlan Pavilion quieted down.
Pei Juizhi stood in the empty room, his slightly drooping phoenix eyes were a little dark.
He thought it was just the atmosphere of the banquet that had unsettled his mood.
However, once everyone had left the building, he realised that the matter was not that simple
Because of the silence around him, he could feel the changes in his emotions even more.
He stood leaning on the railing, looking at the quiet lake, and could only hear his heart beating faster and faster.
The scent he had inhaled earlier seemed to have buried beast inside his body.
Now, this beast was trying to tear through his sanity and burst out.
Pei Juizhi held the sword tightly, unable to hold back the sharp sound of the blade, sensing the danger.
When Wu Su had run out of Guanlan Pavilion, she had not even reached the corridor bridge before her footsteps were firmly nailed to the ground.
She can’t go any further, the center of the vortex that attracts her is inside Guanlan Pavilion.
What is it, what is happening to her? Wu Su’s lips trembled, and she turned around abruptly, looking in direction of the pavilion.
She longed to be there.
Wu Su used up her meagre magical power to conceal her figure, and ran back towards the pavilion.
She was weak, and after entering the pavilion, she was already out of breath from exhaustion.
As if being guided by something, Wu Su walked towards Pei juizhi step by step.
Outside the window behind Pei Juizhi, a veil blown by the night wind fluttered over the lake.
He stood silently by the window facing the water, like a statue of god.
Wu Su walked around the pavilion a few times before finding the door to Pei Juizhi’s room.
She knew a bit about human etiquette, so she raised her hand and knocked on the door lightly.
“Hello…” Wu Su’s words formed slowly, becoming straightforward and ambiguous.
She didn’t know how to describe the current situation, so she could only speak bluntly.
“I think… I need to meet you… I don’t know what’s going on, but can you open the door?”
There is only this one door between her and Pei Juizhi.
When he heard Wu Su’s voice, he knew that he had been longing for.
He must have been poisoned, and it must be relieved through some means.
The unlucky woman outside the door was affected by the same poison.
Pei Juizhi didn’t open the door. He was holding the sword, when suddenly the long sword came out of its sheath and drew across his palm.
Blood dripped down, and the pain made him calm down a little.
“Leave-” He spoke to Wu Su in a cold voice.
Wu Su frowned, her hand clasped on the door.
“I won’t leave, if you want to go, you go first.”
Pei Juizhi; “…” He couldn’t leave.
If was as if two magnets were drawn together, pressing against each other through the door. Now, neither of them can leave, they can only meet each other.
“Do you know what happened?” Pei Juizhi asked.
“I… don’t know…” Wu Su’s fingers curled, drawing an unbearable arc on the door.
She is just a little monster, this kind of thing is difficult for her to understand.
The two were silent for a long time. Wu Su didn’t have the strength to push the door open, and Pei Juizhi kept holding back, not opening the door for her.
Until the uncontrollable beast broke through its cage.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open with a “squeak”.
Wu Su felt a cloud of unknown breath approaching.
She guessed it should be the distinguished guest from the banquet, his body was covered with a layer of mist that makes him inaccessible.
She smelled a faint smell of blood, it must be his. Then, the blood-soaked hands grabbed hers.
“Bang! –” The door was closed, and he raised Wu Su’s hands and pressed them above her head.
Her spine flinched against the door that would never open again.
It was early summer, and the clothes that Wu Su wore were not very thick.
When he held her up, his hard chest was separated from er by two layers of silk, which made the dazed woman tremble.
Wu Su raised her head, and he lowered his. At that moment their lips touched.
All the lingering and unknown emotions finally found an outlet.
Just like all living things are born to seek out food, and plants break through the ground chasing after the light.
The two people who were fascinated by the incense of attraction, knew what they should do the moment their bodies touched.
Wu Su gasped sharply, and held on to him tightly in doubt and fear.
She is a demon, is it really good to be so close to a human?
Wu Su’s eyes were out of focus, and there was a charming look on her face.
She has no biological emotions, but the joy of skin-to-skin contact cannot be ignored.
Pei Zhi was much taller than Wu Su, lifting her off the ground as he wrapped his arms around her.
She stood on tiptoe, barely supporting herself with her toes, but most of her weight rested on him.
The lamp that had been lit in the room was dim, and Pei Juizhi could not see her appearance clearly.
He half picked her up, with his lips still on her neck, and took a few steps forward.
The two fell onto the room’s large bed.
The pearl hanging from Wu Su’s ear was gently tugged away by his kiss, falling down into the soft silk like water.
This night was almost sleepless.
_
When Pei Juizhi woke up, he was the only one on the incense-soaked bed.
Last night, the wick of the oil lamp had burned out, and now the faint morning light fell on his cheek.
His thin lips were tightly pursed into a line, bringing out a bit of a handsome and dusty arc.
Under the sunlight, his long eyelashes are distinct, like brightly coloured crow feathers.
He propped up his body, and noticed that there were faint bloodstains on his chest from the woman’s fingernails. He put on his outer shirt to cover up the ambiguous marks.
There was a glass of warm water on the table, and the palm of his hand where he had been cut last night had already been bandaged.
Pei Juizhi thought that the woman must have taken a Qianyan Pill, her face had been blurred, with no memorable features other than the standard beauty.
The light at night was very dim, but in the hazy light and shadow, he remembered. She had a mole under her right breast, he had bitten it.
Running his hands over the bed, he found a pearl earring between his fingers.
_
When Wu Su woke up, Pei Juizhi was still asleep. She sat up suddenly, realising that she had committed a serious crime.
She, she, she offended the distinguished guest who came to Guanlan Pavilion last night… it should be an offence, right? she thinks.
Wu Su touched Pei Juizhi’s chest. She felt a faint scab of blood, which had been scratched by her last night.
Ah, she is such a damned monster, she actually hurt someone. Wu Su covered her face, feeling a little guilty.
She got up and picked up her discarded clothes, but she didn’t have any strength, her whole body was limp.
Wu Su’s fingers pressed against the place where he had kissed last night, and wrapped the cloth on his chest tighter to cover the traces.
She felt that she had to leave before the fog lifted, she still wanted to stay and continue working in Prince Jing’s mansion.
She is used to everything being neat and tidy around her.
So she tidied up the room… the crumpled curtains, the surface of the bed, and the overturned chairs.
At last, Wu Su touched Pei Juizhi’s injured palm, which had not been caused by her.
She rummaged around to find ointment and bandages, and dressed his wound.
Before Wu Su left, she poured Pei Juizhi a cup of warm water.
She felt that she had called out a few times last night, her throat was a little dry, and she thought that he might be the same.
She spent her pitifully small amount of magic, concealed herself, and returned to the small courtyard where she lived.
Wu Su acted like nothing had happened, changed out of her clothes, and sorted out the things to be returned to the steward.
In addition, there were also the pearl hairpins and earrings. Wu Su counted the pearl hairpins as she took them off her head one by one.
None of them were missing. She let out a long sigh of relief, and turned her head again, touching her earlobe, about to take off the pearl earrings.
However, she only took off one.
At this time, the second pearl earring was being held in the palm of another person, who rubbed it gently
