Chapter 1704: No Worthy Opponents
Chapter 1704: No Worthy Opponents
Lord Dante took a glance at Faction Leader Bertram and couldn't help but wonder where his confidence came from. A Sixth stage Sovereign has never in the history of the entire Faction gotten into the top ten. It's not that there haven't been brilliant Sixth stage Sovereign geniuses in the past, it's just that none of them have been able to get past the two stages mark. They could defeat other geniuses a stage above them, but none of them has been able to defeat anyone two stages above them.
Only one person below the Eighth stage of the Sovereign Plane has gotten into the top ten, and he was a peak Seventh stage Sovereign whose strength isn't really different from an Eighth stage Sovereign. If Grey was going to achieve what Faction Leader Bertram believes he would, then he would have to beat people two stages above him, which Lord Dante didn't believe could happen. And not just once, he'd have to beat a few people in the Eighth stage of the Sovereign Plane to even be considered in the top ten.
Grey didn't know Lord Dante was thinking about how he could achieve this feat, he was more interested in what he could potentially get.
Before long, it was almost the end for those in the Sixth stage.
In the higher stage, Lord Dante saw this and looked at Faction Leader Bertram, "Isn't he going up?"
"Can't he start with those in the Seventh stage?" Faction Leader Bertram knew that Grey didn't think these people in the Sixth stage were an opponent for him, so he wanted to wait until those in the Seventh stage came out.
Lord Dante didn't expect this to be the case and shook his head, "I'm sorry, but the only way he can join those in the Seventh stage is if he's undefeated in the Sixth stage. We have to take the strength gap between both stages into play, so unless an Elementalist is proven, we don't allow them to battle with others a stage above them, to avoid any unnecessary injuries."
Hearing Lord Dante's explanation, Faction Leader Bertram found it acceptable, after all, in a battle, one could easily get killed or seriously injured if they were not careful. And fighting against an opponent who is categorically stronger than you increases the chances of injuries, except one's like Grey, that is.
Faction Leader Bertram transmitted Lord Dante's words to Grey, which made Grey get up from where he was seated.
The second Grey stood up, everyone looked in his direction, with curiosity in their eyes. The genius from the outside world who has refused to take part in the competition all this while has finally gotten up. They wanted to see what he was capable of achieving. The others barring Keith haven't been impressive, and since none from the Sovereign Plane has been able to get into the list, these people felt the outside world couldn't produce a competent Sovereign.
Grey climbed onto the stage and looked at those present. The rules were simple, of everyone standing on the platform, you could challenge anyone you feel shouldn't be on stage, and whoever wins will get a spot. Currently, there are thirty people standing on the platform, adding Grey made it thirty one. Six people would need to be eliminated, to keep the remaining twenty-five as part of the top forty.
As soon as he stood on the platform, Xaden looked at him and chuckled, "To think you'd finally climb this stage."
Grey threw a glance at him, but then looked away, focusing on other things. He accessed everyone on the platform, and counted about thirty people he could take out, which was pretty much everyone that was standing with him on the platform. Now, he just has to choose the people he wants to eliminate. According to what he heard from Faction Leader Bertram, he needed to act fast since if more than the required number of people are left on the platform, then the Elders will access them from their performances and pick those who will advance and be part of the list.
'I just need one dominating victory and I should be good.' He thought to himself before pointing to a young lady standing by the side.
When the young lady saw Grey's finger pointing towards her, she snorted coldly, "You believe you're enough to deal with me?"
The young lady walked out, she was also in the Sixth stage of the Sovereign Plane, she laughed and said, "I'll enjoy putting you in your place."
Grey didn't reply to her words and just bowed, before getting into a fighting position, "Please."
The young lady snickered, and after getting confirmation from an Elder, she attacked first. She was a Fire Elementalist, and always wanted to be on the offensive.
Grey has seen this young lady fight before, and knew just how fierce she was on the battlefield. Unfortunately, she's not worthy to be called his opponent.
Grey's body shot forth like an arrow leaving a bow. The speed of his movement was so shocking that he even left behind an afterimage as he moved. A trail of red light flashed behind him as his figure suddenly stopped.
The entire arena went silent, as a shocked gasp was heard across the entire arena, and the gasp wasn't from just one person, it was from multiple people as they watched the scene before them in shock.
Right in the middle of the platform, Grey was standing there, and in his raised right hand, he was grabbing the young lady by the neck, and her left were off the ground. She struggled to move as she tried to force his hand open to let go of her. She tried to use an elemental attack, but to her dismay, she couldn't circulate her essence energy in her body. She was captured in one move, one move!
The thought of this made her want to explode from anger, but she couldn't do anything other than struggle while being hung in the air with one arm.
