Adventurer of Many Professions

Chapter 176: Recruitment Notice!

As the red-haired adventurer was lost in these thoughts, the scarred adventurer gave him a knowing look and then burst out laughing.

"Hahaha… Oh, look at you, all worried…" he said, still chuckling. "Let me tell you something, even though Raymond didn't take the test with the Magic Crystal Ball, his magic affinity is no longer a secret! Nearly every adventurer knows about it by now."

The red-haired adventurer snapped his head toward his friend. "Wait, what? Almost every adventurer knows about it? How? What happened? What's Raymond's magic affinity?"

The scar-faced adventurer grinned, his smile widening as he teased his friend. "Ah, don't get too excited… Let me explain. Remember I told you that Raymond's team was recruiting a warrior to join them?"

The red-haired adventurer's eyes suddenly lit up. "Wait, could Raymond's magic affinity have something to do with the recruitment?"

"Bingo," the scarred adventurer replied, nodding. "You're getting it. Raymond actually wrote down his magic affinity in the recruitment book, the one where he's listing the information for the warrior he wants to recruit. He also included Sylph's, Lorene's, and Arya's magic affinity scores in it."

Despite the scarred adventurer focusing on the warrior recruitment angle, the red-haired adventurer's attention snapped back to Raymond.

"Wait, wait, just tell me already," he interrupted, "What's Raymond's magic affinity? What else is in that recruitment book about him?"

He was desperate to know Raymond's magic affinity, but also worried. What if it was low? If Raymond's score wasn't impressive, the adventurers who had mocked him before would have all the ammo they needed to start their gossip again.

The scarred adventurer chuckled at his friend's impatience. "Okay, okay! I know you're eager. But let me explain it to you properly."

The scarred adventurer cleared his throat and said slowly, "The recruitment book says that Raymond's magic affinity is 3.8..."

"Three point eight!"

The red-haired male adventurer's eyes instantly lit up, his excitement spilling over as he grabbed his friend by the shoulders. "You're saying Raymond's magic affinity is 3.8? Is that true? It's really 3.8, right?!"

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" The scarred adventurer grinned, though slightly annoyed by his friend's enthusiasm. "Raymond's magic affinity is 3.8! It's clearly written in the recruitment book!"

The red-haired adventurer, still in shock, didn't seem to hear the irritation in his friend's voice. He continued to shake him, almost vibrating with excitement. "That's insane! 3.8? That's incredible! So high! I thought he'd be—"

The scarred adventurer quickly pushed the red-haired adventurer off him, his patience wearing thin. "Alright, alright! Calm down a bit."

"I can't! You don't get it!" The red-haired adventurer nearly shouted, his joy still bubbling over. "I was expecting Raymond's magic affinity to be low, but 3.8?! That's beyond my wildest expectations! Besides Arya, who just joined, no one in Wittes even comes close to that! Not even Namira, the top magician in town, has a magic affinity that high!"

The excitement on his face was unmistakable. All the worries he'd had about Raymond's potential low magic affinity being exposed and mocked by the other adventurers vanished in an instant.

"But…" The scarred adventurer's voice became a little more serious. "Even so, there are still some who doubt whether Raymond's magic affinity in the recruitment book is real. They point out that he didn't take the test with the Magic Crystal Ball before, so how can they be sure? If it was really that high, why hide it?"

The red-haired adventurer sneered. "Pfft! A bunch of clowns! Who in their right mind would falsify something like that? If someone's gonna lie in the recruitment book, it'd be obvious in no time! Anyone joining Raymond's team will want to verify it. If he's lying, it'll come out in the open immediately. Raymond wouldn't risk that."

He shook his head, his confidence unwavering. "And honestly, I think Raymond didn't take the test because he didn't want to embarrass anyone else. Maybe he didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or cause unnecessary stress for his teammates. Besides, with his talent, revealing a magic affinity that high could attract a lot of negative attentionespecially from people who are envious or jealous of him. We've seen that happen before."

The scarred adventurer nodded thoughtfully. "True, there's no real reason for Raymond to lie about something so easy to verify. Especially considering the interview is in the Adventurer's Guild's Interview Room 4 on the third floor, with a lie detector on hand."

The red-haired adventurer blinked in surprise. "Wait, the interview room? That's where they're doing it?"

"Yeah," the scarred adventurer confirmed. "They've got a lie detector there. So, no one can get away with lying during the interview."

The red-haired adventurer's expression shifted to one of even greater surprise. "But... only teams above Silver Level can use that room, right? Could it be... even though Raymond's team is still Black Iron Level, their actual strength has reached Silver Level? Has the Guild recognized them?"

The scarred adventurer stared at him, blinking in disbelief. "What are you talking about? No way! No matter how strong Raymond and his crew are, they can't have reached Silver Level in just two months! That's a massive leap! You're dreaming if you think they could bridge the gap between Bronze and Silver that fast!"

The scarred adventurer sighed and shook his head. "You're not the same when it comes to Raymond. What happened to the level-headed guy I used to know?"

Scarface continued, "It seems the Adventurer's Guild believes that although Raymond and his team haven't quite reached the Silver Level yet, they have such immense potential that it's only a matter of time before they do, probably sooner than expected."

He paused, eyes gleaming as he spoke, "Raymond's entire team has so much potential, it's practically a given that they'll hit the Gold Level eventually. And barring any major setbacks, reaching Platinum Level isn't out of the question either. The chances are pretty much 90%."

The scarred adventurer's excitement grew. "Especially considering the recruitment book, it says Raymond has already mastered three skills!"

The red-haired adventurer's eyes widened. "Three skills?!" His voice was full of disbelief and excitement. "I knew Raymond was talented, but now he's mastered a third skill? This proves it's not just some lucky fluke, it's his real talent showing through!"

"Exactly," Scarface nodded. "When Raymond learned his first two skills, one from each of two different professions, it was impressive, no doubt. But some people still doubted him, thinking, 'Maybe it's just because he's dual-classed, so it's easier for him to pick up another skill.'"

"But now," Scarface leaned forward, "he's learned a third skill. We don't know which profession it's from, but it must belong to one of the two he's already pursuing. In less than three months, three skills, two from the same profession, there's no room for doubt now!"

The scarred adventurer's excitement was contagious. "And now that Raymond has revealed his magic affinity, everyone's starting to believe that he's the Awakener with the highest overall talent in all of Atlantis!"

The red-haired adventurer clenched his fists, his voice full of admiration. "The highest overall talent! That's insane! Raymond's the most gifted person in all of Atlantis and he's living right here in Wittes! Even if he's not my teammate, it feels like an honor just to be in the same town as him!"

Scarface smiled, a sense of pride in his voice. "It's pretty incredible, isn't it? To think the most talented Awakener in the entire kingdom is right here with us."

After a moment of reflection, Scarface added, "By the way, do you want to know the conditions for the warrior position Raymond and his team are recruiting for? I'll tell you, it's not going to be easy to meet those requirements. I doubt many people in this town will qualify."

The red-haired adventurer raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What kind of requirements are we talking about?"

He wasn't surprised that the standards would be high. After all, Raymond's team was full of exceptional talent: Explosion Magician Sylph, Priestess Lorene, and Female Archer Arya, all of them top-tier in Wittes. It made sense they'd want to recruit equally talented individuals.

Scarface continued, "The usual stuff, like you need to have at least one skill, be under 15 years old, and have an adventurer level of Black Iron or Bronze. But here's the tricky part, one requirement that very few people will meet: your Magic Affinity has to be at least 2."

The red-haired adventurer nodded, clearly understanding. "That makes sense. With the caliber of people they're recruiting, it's no surprise they'd set the bar high."

"Right," Scarface grinned. "Now, come on. I'll take you to see the recruitment book itself."

The two adventurers made their way to the Adventurer's Guild square, where a crowd of curious adventurers had gathered around the recruitment column. After squeezing through the crowd, they finally managed to get a close look at the contents of the book:

The red-haired adventurer's excitement bubbled over as he read through the details. "It's exactly like you said! The talent level is off the charts! And the requirements, they're not easy to meet, but they make sense considering who's recruiting."

Scarface nodded. "Exactly. It's clear, only a select few will be able to qualify."

The red-haired adventurer grinned, his mind already racing. "This is huge! I can't wait to see who else ends up joining this team!"
