Chapter 3- Hello?
I wake up in a purple room, cloud like mist swirling around me as I rub my sore head, hurting from falling into whatever this place is I presume. I look around, curiosity getting the better of me. I seem to be in a purple dungeon or labyrinth sort of structure.
Next to me, I notice there’s a boy. He looks… strangely like me. I shrug it off, whatever. The boy has darkish blue hair, and lighter blue highlights at the ends. He has sandy coloured eyes, and… a pendant like mine?! On his waist, is a belt that has a bottle filled with water -similar to my sand bottle- and a pendant. One half black, one half white. Ying-Yang. I look at my own pendant. The exact same. I stay quiet for now, and look at the other person who has arrived with us.
The girl, I assume, has long golden hair, and purple eyes, lighter than this space we’re in, though.
I gently shake them awake, knowing that it’s probably not a good idea to sleep in a place like this, especially when you consider it’s an unknown location. They wake up, and one of them, the girl, reels back in shock. “W-where am I?! Who are you?! ” She asks, panicking a bit while yelling loudly. I shush her. Putting a finger to her lips as the boy stares in shock around us. “I don’t know, but it's safer when you’re awake than unconscious.” Just as I say this, the boy stutters quietly, shaking a bit. “G-guys?” He says with nervousness. I can practically smell the sweat and fear wafting off of him. “Yeah, what is it?” I ask as I turn around, horror in my eyes as I spot what has him frightened. “Fuck.” I swear.
The entity looks down at us with a condescending air of authority. “I am the Corruption of Vesra” It says with the tone a king would use on lowly peasants and slaves. I shiver, there is something in that tone, something that my instincts are telling me to run away from, to get away from. The entity is huge, as big as two of me stacked on top of each other. “The ruler of this place, and I just had to investigate when I discovered not one but three humans being dragged into my realm.” It said in a curious but ridiculing tone, looking down at us. The girl next to me shivered. “This is my realm, and whatever happens in it, is because I let you. Make it quite clear that I could kill you with a snap of my fingers, change your race or corrupt you. So be good little boys and girls, and serve under me as lowly humans.” It said, in a way that was like it knew the outcome would always come to this no matter what happened. Like they had confidence that we would eventually find our way, and bow down to him in servitude. I looked up at it in horror.
“Who… Who are you?” I say nervously, stepping between the other two and protecting them from his gaze. “That is for me to know, and for you to never figure out, dear human. But I will be so nice to tell you my title, isn’t that kind of me?” The entity talks as if we should be so appreciative for that, like he’s providing us with some miracle. “I am the Corruption God,” It says, like we should have heard the name before, and been afraid of it. “And you pathetic humans only have two choices in my realm. One, you find other people who have been dragged into my realm, and survive with them for a month and I will let you out of here, or…” He drags it out, the suspense in the air palpable. “You offer me one of your own souls that I can torture till the end of time after your death.” He said licking his lips as if hungry while he grins like a maniac, like an employee with inside knowledge, like the choice was obvious, and easy…… too easy. I look at him cautiously, before turning to the others. The boy seems to have decently collected himself, well, at least enough to talk. I gesture for him to come closer to me, as I whisper in his ear. “What do you think we should choose?” I ask. “It seems a bit too obvious to me.”
He shrugged. “We should choose the first one, it’s not too hard.” He says, and I nod, agreeing. We look over to the girl, and she nods as well. I then turn back to the entity. “The first option.” I say with a bit of confidence, a facade of my actual self, which is shivering in fear. The entity grins menacingly, and then leaves in a swirl of purple. An echo travels through the cavern. “Enjoy your choice……” It’s unnerving, but i brush that aside as i look at the others, checking on them. The girl is still frightened, but is a bit better now, so i decide to introduce myself, now the immediate threat is gone.
“Hi, I’m Taegan. We didn’t have time to introduce ourselves before, so why not now? I’m from the Tingaren Surawa people, and a travelling adventurer.” I gesture to the boy. “You?” He, who was nodding along to what i was saying, said. “I’m Shankhe, from the Shafkan Shitaki people, and also a traveller, although i haven’t signed up for adventuring just yet. I planned to when i got out of my hometown, but,” He gestures around us. “I was taken here.” We both lock our gazes onto the girl, who reluctantly gathers her courage, before speaking. “I-I’m Dalyva… from the Dajenuan Daruden people. I-I’m a scholar.” She whispers nervously. I nod. “We should find a safe place to sleep, and some food to eat.” Suggests Shankhe. I agree with him, it's sound advice.
We all get up slowly, both me and Shankhe helping Dalyva onto her feet.
