Chapter 78: Chapter 78
"WOO HOO!!"
On top of several tiny Honkai beasts, my cries of laughter rang out as I was flung through the air.
The Honkai beasts I was on didn't seem to like being my joyride very much though. They tried to separate, but I kept them together with some small attraction through Blue.
Eventually, they got sick of it, smashing themselves through a building.
Unfortunately for them…
No Infinity counter?
Too bad.
Windows shattered and concrete crumbled as the Honkai beasts broke out of the building. In spite of their strange looks, they were kinda dizzy from going through buildings.
How did I know?
Well, they were just going a lot slower than before.
"Awww." I pouted. "Are you guys out of juice?"
DIdn't get a verbal answer, but I didn't expect one anyways.
Funnily enough though, the Honkai beasts acted shocked that I was still on them unharmed as they bounced in surprise slightly, making them look kinda…
Cute?
Urgh… I don't know how some white silicone-like insect monsters would look cute in any way…
"Gojo. Major environmental damage detected."
Bronya's voice entered my ears
I turned to her, floating on one of the damaged buildings with Project Bunny behind her. There were multiple small Honkai beasts near her as well but Project Bunny did the bodyguard work well.
The girl didn't even need to put effort…
"Yo!"
I waved with a grin.
"You guys done having fun already?"
That made her raise an eyebrow.
"We are exterminating Honkai beasts. How is that supposed to be…"
She stopped halfway, shifting her gaze to the Honkai beasts under me. Then, her brows furrowed.
"Is Gojo riding Seraph class Honkai beasts?"
That was the weakest class of Honkai beasts that Bronya had told me about thus far. In response, I nodded happily.
"Yup! These guys have been a blast"
"A blast to the infrastructure…"
"WHAT THE FUCK???!!! HOW ARE YOU RIDING ON THEM???!!!"
Oh. That was Kiana.
Wait… weren't we super high above ground right now? How did her voice reach all the way up here? Was she above ground level as well?"
My eyes moved to the source of the sound.
"Oh… Kiana has a good pair of lungs." I commented.
"The Bronya thought that Kiana's incessant shouting at home already made that clear."
Bronya's voice was monotone, but it was because of that that it was so easy to detect some signs of annoyance from that.
It was at this time that Kiana's voice rang again.
"GOJO! THAT'S NOT FAIR!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE ME TO RIDE ON THEM???!!!"
Hearing that, I sighed.
I took a deep breath and then…
"CUZ YOU DIDN'T ASK!!!!!"
"I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD DO THAT??!!!"
"TOO BAD. THAT'S JUST A SKILL ISSUE ON YOUR PART THEN!"
I shook my head.
"Tsk tsk. People these days…"
Then, my attention returned to the Seraph class Honkai beasts.
"Well well… It seems that the others are done. Our time here…"
I made a wonderfully friendly expression towards the Honkai beasts, making them flinch.
"Over."
I jammed my hand into the closest to me before I ripped out its innards. And with those in hand, my fingers exerted force before a satisfying crack echoed through the skies.
As my hand relaxed its grip, bits and pieces of silicon-ish organs slid from my fist, falling into the dusty earth below.
With a soft hum, I decided to ask the beasts another question.
"So… who's next?"
—----------------------------------------
"Gojo. The Bronya believes that your lines were not as cool as believed."
"Hey! Zip it! I'm gonna say whatever the heck I want!"
Bronya rolled her eyes as her hair fluttered in the air whilst we descended from the skies.
"Gojo is a chuunibyou just like Sister Mei."
I shrugged the accusation off.
"You better be careful. If I snitch on you, you might find yourself hungry tonight."
She snorted. "Sister Mei will never believe you."
"True." I admitted. "But she will."
"The Herrscher of Thunder?" Bronya said aloud. "The other sister Mei doesn't even come out often."
"Well, she will if I ask her to come out."
"Really?"
"... I think?"
My feet gently tapped the damaged roads as I scratched the back of my head.
"Let's talk about that later. Where is Kiana now? And Mei for that matter?" I sighed. "Why did she run off after I was done with my work…"
"Gojo took too long."
"I consider that a compliment."
Bronya's head tilted in confusion at that, but I didn't elaborate.
If you know, then you know.
Hehe.
Bronya and I looked around a bit, destroying the Honkai beasts near ME Corp.
We all decided to go for a day out today after I informed the others about what Theresa said. Now while most groups of friends go out for movies or maybe even a picnic, we found that we liked Honkai beast extermination better?
Did we tell Theresa and Himeko?
The responsible thing to do would be yes.
But well… I'm not responsible.
It wasn't until Bronya and I arrived at a decently sized street with a McHomus whose Homu sign was half ripped off that we found a hint of our friend.
Swish.
A blade cut through air, just before a fragment of white silicone flew at my face.
With a sigh, I just swatted it aside, causing it to explode into tiny chunks at the wall.
A girl stood in the middle of the clearing. Her katana was in its hilt as she stood there in a sword drawing pose. Her eyes were closed as she whispered.
"One to seal… one to cut…"
At once, I couldn't help but let out a snicker. Bronya didn't make any outward reaction. Instead, there was just a click sound.
That seemd to catch her attention as her eyes immediately opened in horror.
She quickly stood up straight and tried her best to compose herself as she greeted us with a smile.
"Guys… y-you're done…"
"Yup." I walked over to her then patted her on the shoulder. "It's time to go. You can't keep doing those poses the whole day."
"I… I was just trying to get more power!!!"
"Of course."
"Bronya… you believe me right?"
"..."
Seeing the gray-haired girl's reaction, Mei's figure slumped slightly.
"You guys never believe me…" She cleared her throat. "I mean, where is Kiana?"
"She…" I suddenly paused as I noticed the sky turned dark for a moment.
I moved my gaze up, only to see a white furball replaying Skyfall. Sighing out, I held out my arms and placed another person temporarily on Infinity as the figure dropped into my arms.
"Yo… Kiana. Did you have fun as well?"
With messy hair that covered her face, Kiana had to blow off some of it to allow herself to be able to talk.
Then, a giggle came from her lips.
"It was frigging amazing!!"
"Good to know."
Then for the nth time today, we had another interruption.
"What are you guys doing here?"
—---------------------
A pout was on Theresa's face as she questioned us in a large vehicle nearby. There were multiple other vehicles around, with Valkyries standing at the perimeter.
The vehicle we were in was pretty nice. It was more of a mobile home than anything as there was everything from a shower to even a bed.
"You guys…" Her pout was on full power. "You should leave it to us. There is protocol here to prevent damage y'know?"
She was trying to seem angry, I think I could speak for all of us when I say that she seemed more like a cute teddy bear than anything.
"It's fine." I placated her. "We're not paying for it anyways."
"But I am!!!"
"... Woopsie?"
Theresa's response was just to shake her head with a sigh. "Seriously guys… you don't need to do this. You should just…"
Her eyes seemed to glance at me for a moment as she paused.
"Take a break. Let the adults do the work."
"Hey! We're grown ups!" Kiana defended us. "Don't treat us like a bunch of kids!"
"Then become an A-rank Valkyrie." came Theresa's reply. "I'll treat you like an adult once you pass that test!"
"Heh! No sweat!" She laughed. "I'll be the strongest Valkyrie ever!"
She then tried to point her thumb at herself, but I was quick enough to prevent her from double cursing herself by pushing her hand down.
A smile came on Theresa's face as she clapped her hands.
"I'll be the first to congratulate you if you get there then."
I wanted to say something, but I suddenly felt a strange feeling.
While some people would call it just a random feeling, I knew better than to ignore it.
This was one of the adaptations I had developed back before I had even met Kiana and I can't describe how many times it had helped me.
My eyes silently darted around the room, looking for signs of anything strange.
Sofas?
Nothing.
The TV?
Other than it playing a terrible Homu animation, not much else was going on.
It was only when my eyes connected with the kitchen tap that I noticed something off.
Were those…
Vines?
