Chaos, Adam's mishap
Adam was at the well, which was located a bit far from his home. The citizens' houses were made of very hard clay. There were thousands of citizens there, and some from other lands would come to pay respect to the gods. Adam hears people from afar making a noise.
Adam pulls the bucket of water and pours it into two more buckets and lifts them, returning to his home. Adam thinks.
'What's the commotion? It's happening near my home,' Adam ponders.
Ragna's hands burst into flames, the crowd below goes quiet. He lifts his hand in the air, and a round hot ball of flame starts appearing on top of his hand.
Person in the crowd: 'What's going on?'
*Inside the house*
Hella exclaimed, 'What's with the commotion outside? It's right outside our house. Let's go out and see.'"
Luke asked Stella if she was certain her father would be there soon.
Stella replied, "Yes, it's been some time since he departed to the well."
Hella remarked, "Hmmm, it's a bit quiet now. Now I really wanna see what's going on."
The round ball of flame unleashed onto Adam's house caused an explosion, sending people flying and some getting burned.
At the temple
A man knelt before Razak, asking for immortality. Razak raised his hand over the man's head, and a shining light descended, transforming the man's appearance.
Alarmed by a distant bang, Razak quickly departed for the temple, leaving the transformed man behind.
The man, now changed, wondered if the process was complete, expressing gratitude and pledging eternal worship as he exited joyfully, noticing the smoke and deciding to investigate.
Observing a small figure floating near his house, Adam recognized it as god Ragnarok and exclaimed, "Oh no. No, no, no, no, no!"
Adam dropped the bucket and started running towards the house, seeing a ball of flame launched towards the building.
Adam pleaded, "No, please don't."
The house exploded, and Adam, realizing it was too late, ran faster, hoping for the safety of those inside.
Ragna smirked, his confidence unwavering. "Serves him right," he muttered, his gaze focused on the destruction he had caused. "Time to see what the gods have to say."
Razak stepped into the dimly lit room of the temple, his eyes focused on the white orb resting in his palm. "I knew this day would come," he murmured to himself. "I must warn the others. We have to get rid of him."
As Razak's grip tightened around the orb, a brilliant light enveloped it, causing it to shatter into shimmering fragments that dispersed at breakneck speed. The first piece reached Enoch, the revered blacksmith known for his mastery of metalcraft and insatiable appetite. Startled by the sudden intrusion, Enoch tumbled off his stool mid-meal.
"Oh, damn it. Is that..." Enoch's words trailed off as the orb piece projected a harrowing vision of Ragnarok consuming everything in its path.
"What does he think he's doing?" Enoch sprang to his feet, silver armor materializing on his stout frame, a gleaming pickaxe materializing in his hand. With a determined gaze, he leaped through the temple's roof, crashing down far outside.
"Ragnarok!".
Enoch calls out. Ragnarok looks in the direction Enoch is calling him, and looks down and sees a figure running out of the smoke.
"I have to find them, I have to, maybe they are still alive," says Adam, starting to dig through the rubble.
Ragnarok is surprised and slowly lands a few yards away from Adam. He starts walking to him, speaking in a cocky voice.
"Oh, Adam! So you weren't the third person in that house. I thought I had killed you. Hey! I'm talking to you. Hey!"
Ignoring Ragnarok, Adam continues searching for his loved ones. Ragnarok smiles and picks up a small rock, throwing it towards Adam. The rock comes flying at an insane speed. Adam has a bad feeling, looks back, dodges the rock, and falls down, narrowly avoiding it.
The man who left the temple emerges from the smoke, and the rock hits him, totally destroying his head as if it exploded. The man falls to his knees and then collapses. Adam shocked by what he witnessed looks at Ragna in both fear and sorrow in his eyes.
"Why do this to them? Why kill my family? You could have just killed me instead," Adam says with tears on his face.
"I am a god, I do not need a reason to end simple human life. You angered me, and that's a good enough reason. The gods have threatened me, but they are weak. They might have forgotten where we came from, but I didn't. We came from a land full of monstrosities and eternal battles," Ragnarok responds.
"I don't care where you came from. Bring my family back!" Adam shouts, running towards Ragnarok. Ragnarok waits, his hand flickering with flame as he throws a hot ball of fire at Adam. Just as Adam was a few feet away from the burning ball, Enoch lands between them, causing Adam to be pushed away by the impact.
Fortunately, the hot ball was blocked by Enoch's armor. Enoch points at Ragna with the pickaxe.
"You, you ungrateful hypocrite. You think you can just get away with this," Enoch accuses.
"Something went wrong with you gods. You have blinded yourselves with this stupidity called peace. Do you not remember where you came from? A god cannot be punished for any deed. Caring for humans has given you mortal hearts," Ragna retorts.
"Quiet!" Enoch commands.
"The place where we battled, somehow a portal appeared in the sky and pulled some of us out. What happened to you? The Enoch I knew was never like this. I pity you," Ragna remarks.
"That's enough!" Enoch snaps.
Adam wakes up due to the quarrel between Ragna and Enoch. He stands up and slowly wipes the dust from his eyes but still can't see clearly. Surprised by how far he is from them, he wonders how he's still alive. He sees Enoch and can tell he's angry just by looking at his face.
"What is the blacksmith god doing here?" Adam mutters.
People from nearby homes come to see what's happening.
"No! Get away from here, don't stay, run!" Adam warns.
"What is happening? Who is that man covered in dirt?" a man from the crowd asks.
"Why is he telling us to run?" a woman from the crowd wonders.
Ragna attempts to address the people of Goddon when Enoch throws his pickaxe towards him, interrupting his speech. Anticipating the attack, Ragna dodges the axe by moving slightly to the side and catches it by the handle. As he looks at Enoch, the pickaxe points towards a child a few feet away from them in the crowd.
"Wow! You almost killed a child," Ragna remarks with a smile.
Turning to face the people, Ragna continues, "People of Goddon, do you want to know something that the gods haven't told?"
"What are you doing!? You know that's forbidden," Enoch protests, realizing the danger of engaging in combat in the midst of the crowd. "Where is that man Ragna was about to kill?"
He turns to Adam but can't find him, then shifts his gaze to the people.
"Humans, get out of here," Enoch commands.
"We heard a loud sound and saw flames rising from a distance. So we came to witness what was happening," a girl in the crowd explains.
"Those houses are destroyed. What happened here?" a man from the crowd questions.
"Well, I simply destroyed them because the people have angered me for so long," Ragna replies casually.
"What? Don't we deserve punishment?" the man responds in disbelief.
Enoch conjures a large axe into his hand.
"I will not tell you twice. Get away from here!" Enoch shouts, pointing the axe towards the people.
Frightened, the crowd starts running away as Enoch jumps up with the axe, aiming to attack Ragna.
Ragna quickly blocks with the pickaxe he was holding. Enoch exerts force in an attempt to push Ragna into the ground as they clash, but Ragna proves to be stronger, surprising Enoch.
*Grunts*
Ragna manages to push Enoch away. He lifts his hand, pointing it at Enoch and releasing a torrent of fire like a flamethrower. However, Enoch conjures a large silver-colored shield made of titanium, effectively blocking Ragna's fiery assault. Enoch then swiftly throws the shield at Ragna while rolling out of the way. Ragna casually slaps it aside as if it were nothing.
Enoch thinks to himself, "How did he get so strong?"
Enoch conjures 18 blades from thin air. As they hover, he sends them straight at Ragna.
Ragna punches the first blade, melting and breaking it upon contact. He quickly begins punching and deflecting the remaining blades. Enoch's eyes start glowing bright grey as he sends each blade. Then he runs straight towards Ragna, his right hand forming a golden metal glove that starts glowing as well.
Ragna also charges towards him, both jumping and their fists clashing , releasing a sonic boom.
Meanwhile, at the temple, the gods have gathered, and Razak is at the table, the gods discussing Ragna's issues.
"Silence, please. The issue with Ragna is currently being handled by Enoch," Razak announces.
A voice rose from the crowd, filled with regret and urgency, "We should have acted sooner. Look at what has come to pass—he's..."
Enoch's body plummeted from the ceiling, shattering the diamond table as it crashed down. Thankfully, Razak managed to evade the raining shards unscathed.
"How is this possible!?" Razak exclaimed in disbelief.
Meanwhile, Ragna, unfazed by the chaos, soared to a gathering of onlookers. His hands emitted a brilliant glow, seizing the attention of the crowd. The overcast sky played into Ragna's hands, enhancing his luminance.
"People, listen closely," Ragna proclaimed, his voice cutting through the murmurs. "We have deceived you. We are not gods but nameless entities inhabiting borrowed forms."
A man from the crowd spoke up, his voice tinged with uncertainty, "Is this the truth? Have we been misled all this time, despite your aid?"
"We wearied of the charade," Ragna continued, addressing the gathering. "We grew weary of manipulation and servitude. Those grand temples? Not our handiwork. Why build when we can command others to do so?"
"But the legends..." another voice interjected.
"They were our fabrication," Ragna admitted. "But I tire of this facade. I long for the days of yore, where we reigned unchallenged, known as gods by mortals like you."
*Meanwhile, at the temple...*
The gods seethed with rage.
"We've endured enough. It ends now," a deity declared, prompting a swift departure from the temple.
Ragna sensed their approach and ascended into the sky, drawing the crowd's eyes upward.
"Observe as they attempt to silence me," Ragna declared confidently. "My strength surpasses theirs—I've never ceased training, unnoticed by their indifference. Now, I stand stronger than ever."
A multitude of divine beings, accompanied by Razak, encircled Ragna. Half the crowd dispersed, while the rest lingered, transfixed.
Razak urged, "Move away! This clash may prove fatal."
A man from the crowd voiced a question that echoed the doubt in many minds, "Is what he speaks the truth?"
"yes, and now we are going to seal him." Razak responded.
"What? But we have to kill him," exclaimed one of the goddesses surrounding Ragna.
"We can, but we could seal him and curse him to suffer. Painfully, and even if he finds a vessel, he will still be trapped, just like Kasaka," Razak explained.
"Seal him? What does that mean, my lord?" inquired a man from the crowd.
"I told you people to get out of my sight," Razak stated sternly, causing the man to immediately turn to dust as panic ensued among the onlookers.
"Don't break the small statue," warned Ragna.
"Why would you say that?" questioned Razak.
"Because if you do, I will come back and kill you all," threatened Ragna.
A white glowing chain was conjured by the gods surrounding Ragna, and they simultaneously threw it at him, wrapping around him in its ethereal grip. Attempting to conjure his flame, Ragna failed and let out a mocking laugh.
The gods then dragged him by the chains to the temple, where he knelt before the other deities. Razak placed a large, round black orb in front of Ragna, the orb glowing a bright red.
"I see you got what you deserved," remarked Lilith as Ragna chuckled.
A sudden entrance interrupted the tense scene as Adam strode into the temple.
"How did he get in here? He must have slipped in when we all left," Razak pondered aloud.
"You don't seem to die, do you? I'll kill him if it's the last thing I do. This orb is already set to imprison me, but with the right destruction, I could distort its curse," Razak plotted.
Ragna's eyes glowed a bright blue, causing the chains around him to emit a matching hue, inciting the gods holding them to burst into flames and scream in agony.
"How?" questioned Razak in disbelief as Ragnarok proclaimed, "I am a god and cannot be locked away."
With a swift motion, Ragna released a wide range of blue flames that engulfed the temple, causing it to erupt like a volcano. The crystal ball shattered, transforming every godly being present into figurines destined to suffer for eternity unless destroyed.
Tragically, Adam couldn't survive the destructive blast, meeting his demise within the burning chaos.
The capital city's inhabitants mourned a profound loss as they faced the harsh reality of mortality and toil. The temple's explosion catapulted debris into the air, leaving behind a scene of death and chaos.
In the aftermath, the ancient figurines were scattered and safeguarded in distant lands, their existence shrouded in secrecy to prevent the release of imprisoned entities destined for eternal suffering.
Over millennia, memories of these relics faded from the collective consciousness, fading into obscurity. Until a fateful night on November 8, 2004, when a child was born.
Under the cover of darkness on November 26, that same child found himself abandoned on the doorstep of a foster home, nestled in a baby carriage. A mysterious woman, cloaked in a long brown coat and a black hat, knocked frantically before vanishing into the night.
A nun, drawn by the unexpected disturbance, opened the door to discover a dark-skinned boy swaddled in blankets, a single word - "ADAM" - inscribed on a scrap of paper fastened to his clothing.
