Accidentally invincible!

Chapter 307: Almost Annihilated

"The skilled are bold."

For these Inner Sect disciples, Lin Fan offered his praise. Impressive. He thought they had already fallen to the Demons, but unexpectedly, they were chasing after the Demons instead. That was truly a way to boost the prestige of the Taiwu Immortal Sect.

But soon.

His expression grew increasingly solemn.

Things weren't as simple as he'd imagined.

A corpse.

And another corpse.

There were Demons, Taiwu Immortal Sect disciples, and mortals clad in coarse clothing.

"Senior Brother, I feel that this situation isn't simple. Based on my guess, the junior disciples must have, under the leadership of mortals, bravely launched an attack against the Demons. Truly admirable!" Ye Donglai exclaimed in awe.

Lin Fan glanced at him.

What kind of imagination is this?

Mortals leading an attack against Demons? How could one even think of such a thing?

"Stop rambling, follow me."

His expression remained heavy. Things were definitely not that straightforward, and he had a faint premonition.

Perhaps… the situation was worse than they thought.

Though he hoped he was overthinking.

As they pressed onward.

The number of corpses steadily increased.

"Huh! Isn't this Junior Brother Xiao Yang? He joined forty years ago and became an Inner Sect disciple, truly a talent. How did he end up dead here?"

Ye Donglai stood frozen, staring at the corpse, his expression stiff, as though he'd encountered something he couldn't believe.

Just as Lin Fan prepared to move forward again,

he noticed Ye Donglai walking up to the corpse.

The corpse was kneeling, sword in hand, plunged into the ground to prop up its body from collapsing completely.

Ye Donglai supported Junior Brother Xiao Yang's body without saying much, his heart heavy. Junior Brother Xiao Yang, I still owe you Spirit Stones. I haven't returned them, even after all this time.

You never asked for it back, but I've always remembered.

He struck the ground with a palm, creating a pit, then gently placed the corpse inside, carefully burying it.

"Senior Brother, something doesn't feel right. We need to go further in and see for ourselves."

Ye Donglai, suddenly serious, felt out of character.

Hastily, they rushed toward the distant depths.

In some cavernous location.

A group of people huddled inside, all exhausted and disheveled. Among them were disciples of the Taiwu Immortal Sect, as well as mortal villagers.

At this moment, their spirits were low; they appeared sickly, as if darkness had engulfed them, leaving them without hope.

A man with soot-covered face spoke, "Immortal Masters, you should leave us. Carrying us along, you won't make it out alive."

Most of them were children, with a few sturdy men among them.

Previously, they'd been captured during the Demons' rampage, dragged to the Demon Pit. Just when they thought they were doomed, a group of Immortal Masters attacked from behind, battling fiercely with the Demons for a long time until they managed to rescue them. However, the Demons didn't let up and gave chase relentlessly.

Because of them, the Immortal Masters constantly had to defend and protect, falling further behind as they retreated.

Who knows how much time had passed?

But they knew one thing — it had already been at least a month.

With no food in this place, the Immortal Masters did not require sustenance. Yet the mortals relied on the Elixirs provided by the Immortal Masters to maintain their strength.

"Don't worry. As long as we're here, we'll ensure you all get out." An Immortal Master holding a sword reassured them.

Though a flicker of unease gleamed in his eyes, he feigned composure to comfort the mortals.

Suddenly.

Noises emerged from outside.

"Shh! Don't make a sound."

Crunch!

Crack!

Roar!

It was the sound of Demons. The Demons surrounded the area, searching for their trail. They knew they couldn't hide for long; some Demons had an incredibly keen sense of smell.

Everyone stared at the entrance of the cave.

In an instant.

A massive snake-like Demon slithered past the cave's entrance, its body enormous. A single scale on its body was as large as the entire cave entrance.

Immediately afterward.

The sound of vibrations grew.

The mortals' bodies began to tremble, their legs shaking uncontrollably, their faces pale with terror. To them, the sight was unimaginably horrifying, as if they were prey waiting to be devoured.

A disciple whispered, "Stay calm, don't panic. It might not find us."

The words had barely left his mouth.

When a terrifying, hideous vertical eye appeared at the cave entrance, emanating a piercing chill.

"We're doomed."

To these mortals, they'd never encountered such a sight before. Terrified, they curled up and shivered uncontrollably.

"Brothers and Sisters! Don't be afraid. We are Taiwu Immortal Sect disciples! Even if the Demons are overwhelming, that means nothing!" A disciple stood and shouted boldly.

Hiss!

At that moment.

A long tongue stretched into the cave, instantly coiling around the waist of the brave disciple, ready to drag him out.

"Junior Brother…!"

Another disciple shouted in alarm, brandishing his weapon, slashing fiercely at the tongue.

Clang!

The sound of metal striking echoed.

The tongue was incredibly tough, impervious to ordinary weapons.

"Yang Fire!"

Another disciple formed spell seals with his hands, and flames roared forth, burning the tongue. While it didn't harm the Demon, it forced the tongue to release the disciple and recoil swiftly.

Thud!

The disciple who'd been coiled dropped to his knees, coughing up blood, his face pale.

When the tongue gripped his waist earlier, he felt as though his body was about to explode.

The strength was utterly terrifying.

"Junior Brother, are you alright?"

"I'm okay. I didn't expect us to be discovered."

At that moment.

The ground shook violently.

The entire land trembled; cracks spread across the surrounding cave walls, causing rubble to fall.

Steadier disciples started assigning tasks.

Some disciples were ordered to protect the mortals, while others were tasked with holding off the Demon and finding a chance to escape. Staying put inside was nothing short of certain death.

The snake-like Demon began ramming its head against the cave entrance, its nimble tongue darting back and forth as though trying to catch ants with it.

Simultaneously, a group of disciples formed spell seals, their Mana surging furiously, emitting dazzling lights as they continuously unleashed attacks on the Demon's head. Though none could match it one-on-one, their combined efforts gave them a slim chance of survival.

Roar!

The snake-like Demon roared furiously, its massive body thrashing against the mountainside. Giant boulders were sent flying into the Heavenly Vault. At this rate, their sanctuary would collapse entirely.

At the same time.

The disciples' Mana drained rapidly as they attacked the Demon. Their expressions became more anxious. They'd been under constant tension for so long that they feared they might faint the moment they let up.

Suddenly, a disciple wielding a Spiritual Artifact seized an opening and, with a fierce cry, unleashed a wave of Mana, causing the Spiritual Artifact in his hands to erupt with brilliant light. Its power was incredible as he directly engaged the Demon.

"Brothers and Sisters, I'll lure the Demon away! Hurry and take them out of the Demon Pit and return to the sect!"

The Spiritual Artifact in his hand was a Middle Grade piece.

It was capable of harming the Demon.

But compared to the Demon's overwhelming strength, the gap was immense.

In moments of extreme crisis, however, extraordinary strength often surfaced. Wielding his Spiritual Artifact, he performed Immortal Techniques of immense power, causing the snake-like Demon to momentarily suffer.

"Go…!"

The people within the cave seized the opportunity, leading the mortals to flee outside. As long as they ran, they had a chance to survive. Staying put was a surefire path to death.

To the mortals.

Witnessing this scene was traumatizing. Not passing out from sheer terror was already noteworthy. However, whether they could muster the strength to run was uncertain — the fear had left their legs feeling disconnected from their bodies.

They could only allow the Immortal Sect disciples to guide them away.

Once outside.

"Junior Brother, don't fight the Demon for too long. Run!" one disciple shouted.

But the disciple holding the Spiritual Artifact plunged it into one of the Demon's eyes and snarled, clinging tightly to his weapon with no intention of letting go.

The Demon thrashed in agony, its massive body writhing wildly.

"You go ahead! I can kill it!"

The words had just left his mouth.

The snake-like Demon ceased its thrashing, its body quivering. Suddenly, a sharp bone spike pierced through its flesh and shot out violently, impaling the disciple and hanging his body high in the air. Turning its menacing gaze toward the fugitives, it roared furiously.

Roar!

The roar echoed like thunder, sending shockwaves in all directions.

The mortals couldn't withstand it. Blood streamed from their noses, eyes, and ears.

"Damn it!"

The disciples formed Mana Shields to block the shockwaves, but the power of the Demon's roar was overwhelming, causing their shields to tremble as if they might shatter at any moment.

The snake-like Demon lunged from afar, spreading its massive jaws to devour them all in one fell swoop.

The Taiwu Immortal Sect disciples gripped their weapons tightly.

Their breaths grew rapid, hearts pounding against their ribs.

"Take the mortals and run! The rest of you, help me hold this Demon back! No arguments!" an elder disciple commanded.

He was the senior among them, responsible for the younger disciples.

None of them had expected the mortals' Demon Pit to be this horrifying.

Initially, they'd assumed the most formidable Demons here would merely be at the Longevity Realm fourth or fifth stage.

But upon entering the Demon Pit.

They realized how gravely they had underestimated the danger.

Powerful Demons were genuinely present.

"Senior Brother, we might not be able to hold it off," one disciple said, his voice trembling with fear.

"Even if we can't, we must!"

"Prepare yourselves. It's coming!"

Boom!

They formed spell seals, unleashing Immortal Techniques against the Demon. But against the enraged Demon, their efforts were futile. With a single charge, it sent them crashing in all directions.

They weren't even on the same level.

Roar!

The Demon let out another furious roar, spinning back to launch another attack.

Their hearts sank into despair.

It seemed hope had completely vanished.

But suddenly.

A terrifying aura swept in from the distance.

Whoosh!

A black spear streaked through the air.

The Hell Spear pierced through the Demon's gaping maw, tearing through its flesh, shattering its tough Scale Armor, and crashing violently into the ground.

Boom!

The Demon collapsed to the ground. Even in death, it might not have understood how it had met its end.

"Brothers and Sisters, are you alright?" Lin Fan descended from the sky. Seeing the Inner Sect disciples still alive, a sense of relief washed over him. But as he surveyed their numbers, the expression on his face shifted slightly.

The casualties seemed… severe.
