Abyss Saga

Chapter 10: The Collapse of Illusion

Rain stood amidst the rubble, his body covered in wounds, yet his eyes burned with an unquenchable madness. The scent of blood invaded his senses, and the dying groans of the wounded faded into the background, nothing more than distant whispers. Around him, the flames devoured everything, but this was merely the beginning of the hell he had chosen to ignite in this corrupt world.

Just two hours ago, the moon hung in the sky, casting its pale glow over the forest. Rain knew they would come, but he hadn't expected them to arrive so quickly. The Organization no longer underestimated him.

He was no longer facing mere soldiers. He was up against those who had transcended human limits.

When he heard the first snap of a broken branch, he didn't move. He remained still, watching in silence.

Then, as if lightning had struck the earth, the trees around him exploded, and three shadows lunged at him at terrifying speed.

"We've found you, Rain Earthon!"

There was no need for introductions.

Rain raised his hand, and the Black Butterfly that had lain dormant within him began to flutter. In an instant, the air itself seemed to rip apart under the overwhelming force emanating from him.

He knew this battle would be different.

The first attacker wielded a long spear, moving with a speed that could pierce through any defense. But before the strike could land, the Butterfly moved.

With a single flap of its wings, time froze for a moment.

This wasn't an illusion—it was something that defied logic itself. In that instant, Rain saw a thousand possible outcomes, glimpses of how the battle could unfold.

He chose one.

Taking a single step to the left, he evaded the spear, grabbed his opponent's wrist, and yanked with inhuman force.

Bones shattered with a sickening crunch.

The scream of agony was brief, as the man's skull exploded before he could even comprehend what had happened.

"One down..."

But there was no time to rest.

The second opponent was faster, stronger, and infinitely more dangerous. He wielded no weapons—instead, his body was covered in strange glowing runes.

"Do you think you're the only one with hidden power?" the man sneered, his eyes glowing with an eerie light.

And then, in an instant, he vanished.

This wasn't mere speed or stealth. It was as if he had merged with the void itself.

But Rain was no ordinary human.

He closed his eyes for a fraction of a second—and listened.

There was something different in the air, invisible threads pulsing, twisting fate itself.

"Found you."

With a flick of his wrist, the Black Butterfly flapped its wings once more.

Time didn't just freeze—it shattered.

The man reappeared behind Rain, aiming a lethal strike at his heart, but before he could land the blow, he found himself ensnared by unseen chains, binding not just his body, but his very soul.

"Impossible... What did you do?!"

Rain didn't answer. He merely smiled, his eyes cold as death.

And in the next instant, the man's body dissolved into black dust, as if he had never existed at all.

"Two down."

But the third...

The third was different.

He stood at a distance, watching with quiet, calculating eyes.

"You are stronger than I expected," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper, yet each word carried an immense weight.

Rain remained silent, locking eyes with him.

And then, without warning, everything changed.

The sky turned pitch-black.

The ground cracked beneath his feet.

The very fabric of reality began to unravel.

Rain realized, for the first time in a long while, that he was facing someone who could truly threaten him.

But fear had never been part of his existence.

He smirked and raised his hand.

"Come, then."

And with that, the final battle erupted.
