A Western Kid’s Journey into the Eastern Cultivation World

Chapter 97: Chapter 97 The Final Challenge and the to Escape

The chamber trembled violently, chunks of the crystal ceiling crashing to the ground like deadly meteors. Lyra narrowly dodged a massive shard, her heart pounding in her chest. "We're sitting ducks in here!" she yelled over the deafening roar of the collapsing structure.Elder Li, his face pale with exhaustion, scanned the room desperately. "There must be a hidden passage, a way out that the ancient architects left for such an emergency." His staff, now barely more than a splintered stick, glowed weakly as he used it to probe the walls, searching for any sign of a secret door. The Keeper, her breath ragged from the previous battle, crouched beside Elias. The once - possessed man was still dazed, his eyes unfocused as he tried to make sense of his surroundings. "We can't carry him like this," she said, looking up at Jack. "He'll slow us down."Jack gritted his teeth, his hands still trembling from the exertion of breaking the Abyssal Eclipse's hold on Elias. "We're not leaving him behind. We've come this far together; we'll get out together or not at all." He bent down and slung Elias' arm over his shoulder, hoisting him to his feet. Elias let out a groan but managed to put some weight on his own legs.As they stumbled through the debris - filled chamber, the inky void beneath them continued to expand. Tendrils of dark energy snaked up from the abyss, lashing at their feet. Lyra danced nimbly around the grasping tendrils, her dagger at the ready. Every now and then, she'd slice at one, but the dark tendrils seemed to regenerate almost instantly.Suddenly, Elder Li let out a cry of triumph. "Over here!" he shouted, pointing to a section of the wall. The old man placed his hands on the crystal surface and began to mutter an incantation. Slowly, the wall began to shift, revealing a narrow passageway bathed in an otherworldly blue light. But just as they were about to make their way into the passage, a massive, shadowy figure emerged from the void. It towered over them, its form a swirling mass of darkness with glowing red eyes that seemed to pierce their very souls. The creature let out a roar that 震耳欲聋,and a blast of dark energy shot towards them.Jack quickly pushed Elias towards Lyra and the Keeper. "Get him to the passage!" he shouted. Then, he raised his sword, the blade still infused with the strange energy from the being of pure light. The merged orb in his chest burned hot, and the ancient tome floated beside him, its pages fluttering madly. The Keeper and Lyra didn't hesitate. They grabbed Elias and half - carried, half - dragged him towards the passage. Elder Li stayed behind, his staff held high as he tried to create a protective barrier. But the barrier was weak, and the dark energy blast shattered it easily.Jack charged at the shadowy creature, his sword swinging in a wide arc. The blade connected with the creature's arm, and a shower of dark sparks flew. The creature let out a howl of pain and retaliated with a swipe of its massive claw. Jack ducked, but the claw grazed his side, sending a searing pain through his body.Lyra, Elias, and the Keeper reached the passageway. "Jack, hurry!" Lyra screamed, her voice filled with fear.Jack knew he had to act fast. He closed his eyes and focused all his energy on the merged orb and the tome. The symbols on the tome began to glow with an intense light, and a surge of power coursed through his veins. When he opened his eyes, his sword was ablaze with a brilliant, multicolored light. With a final, mighty roar, Jack launched himself at the creature. His sword pierced through the creature's chest, and a blast of energy exploded from the wound. The creature let out a final, ear - splitting scream and disintegrated into a cloud of dark mist. But Jack didn't have time to celebrate. The chamber was collapsing even faster now. He turned and sprinted towards the passageway, diving through just as the entrance sealed shut behind him. Panting heavily, he looked around. The passage was long and winding, and at the end, there was a faint, golden light that seemed to promise safety. But they all knew that the journey to escape the clutches of the Abyssal Eclipse was far from over, and who knew what other challenges awaited them in the mysterious passageway.
