Chapter 90: Chapter 90 Confronting the Figure
The hooded figure stepped forward, the air around them crackling with dark magic. Jack's heart sank as he took in the aura of malevolence that surrounded the newcomer. The merged orb in his chest reacted violently, sending waves of pain through his body as if warning him of the danger that lay ahead."Who are you?" Jack called out, his voice echoing through the chamber. His sword was at the ready, but he could feel the uncertainty in his grip. The figure let out a cold laugh, a sound that sent shivers down Jack's spine. "I am the harbinger of your doom," they hissed, their voice distorted as if coming from multiple directions at once. With a flick of their wrist, tendrils of dark energy shot out from their hands, wrapping around Elder Li and lifting him off the ground."Elder Li!" Lyra screamed, rushing forward. But another wave of dark magic sent her flying backwards, crashing into a pile of rubble. The Keeper was the first to recover. She charged towards the figure, her crystal shard raised high. But as she got close, the figure disappeared in a cloud of smoke, only to reappear behind her and send a blast of energy that knocked her unconscious.Jack knew they were in trouble. He closed his eyes and focused on the power within him, drawing on the combined strength of the orb and the tome. The symbols on the ancient book began to glow brightly, and a surge of energy coursed through his veins. When he opened his eyes, his vision was tinged with a strange, multicolored light. He lunged at the figure, his sword ablaze with energy. The figure blocked his attack with a shield of dark magic, but Jack could feel the barrier weakening under the force of his strike. "You won't win," Jack growled. The figure laughed again. "You think you can defeat me with your feeble attempts at mastering the dark power? You are but a pawn in a much larger game." With that, they raised both hands, and the portals behind them began to spin wildly. Dark creatures started to pour out of them, filling the chamber with their menacing growls.Lyra, who had managed to get back on her feet, looked at Jack in despair. "There are too many of them!"But Jack wasn't ready to give up. He could feel a new, stronger connection to the power within him. He could sense the energy of the creatures and the figure, and he knew that there was a way to turn their own power against them."Lyra, help me focus the energy of the orb," Jack shouted. "We need to create a counter - blast that will destroy the portals and this thing once and for all!"Lyra nodded, her eyes determined. She placed her hands on Jack's shoulders, and together, they began to channel the power. The merged orb in Jack's chest glowed brighter than ever, and a massive wave of multicolored energy shot out from them, colliding with the dark magic of the figure and the creatures. The resulting explosion shook the chamber to its core. Dust and debris rained down from the ceiling, and the walls began to crack. Jack and Lyra held on tightly, hoping that their combined power would be enough. When the dust finally cleared, Jack looked around, his heart pounding. The figure was still standing, but their hood had been blown off, revealing a face that Jack never expected to see...
