A Western Kid’s Journey into the Eastern Cultivation World

Chapter 75: Chapter 75 Trials in the Realm

The swirling purple sky overhead pulsed with an otherworldly rhythm as Jack and his companions stepped onto the crystal - stone ground. The air crackled with a strange energy, and every footfall echoed with a metallic ring, as if the very world beneath them was alive and listening.Lyra, ever - observant, crouched down and ran her fingers over the ground. "These crystals... they're pulsating. I can feel a faint vibration through my fingertips." Her eyes widened with a mix of wonder and trepidation. Before anyone could respond, a piercing screech split the air. A flock of creatures descended from the sky, their bodies a shimmering blend of feather and scale, with long, barbed tails trailing behind them. Their eyes glowed a sickly green, and their beaks were lined with rows of jagged teeth."Archers, take aim!" Elder Li shouted, his staff held high. The few archers among their group nocked their arrows, but as they released, the projectiles simply passed through the creatures as if they were made of mist. The Keeper cursed under her breath. "They're incorporeal! Physical attacks won't work!" She brandished her ice - blue sword, but even as she swung at one of the creatures, her blade sliced through empty air.Jack, gripping the tome tightly, closed his eyes and focused on the power within. The merged orb began to hum, and a vision flashed before his eyes: a symbol carved into the temple's foundation, a symbol that seemed to resonate with the energy of these strange beings. "The symbols!" he shouted. "We need to find a way to use the symbols on the tome!"Lyra understood immediately. She rushed to Jack's side and flipped through the ancient pages. "There!" she pointed to a page covered in intricate symbols, one of which matched the vision Jack had seen. "We need to recreate this symbol with our energy."Together, Jack, Lyra, and Elder Li joined hands. A glow began to emanate from their linked fingers, growing brighter with each passing second. The symbol they formed in the air pulsed with a brilliant light, and when it reached its peak, they hurled it towards the flock of creatures. The effect was instantaneous. The creatures let out ear - splitting screams as the symbol made contact, their incorporeal forms starting to solidify. The Keeper didn't hesitate. She charged forward, her sword now able to strike true. With a flurry of swings, she cut down several of the creatures, their blood a strange, iridescent liquid that sizzled upon hitting the crystal - stone ground. But just as they thought they had gained the upper hand, the ground began to shake violently. Massive, vine - like tendrils burst forth from the ground, their surfaces covered in sharp thorns. One of the tendrils wrapped around Elder Li, lifting him into the air."Elder Li!" Jack and the others rushed to his aid, but the tendrils were too strong. They lashed out, knocking the group back. Lyra, however, noticed something. "Look! There's a weak point on the tendrils' joints!"Jack nodded, and with a newfound determination, he channeled the power of the orb and the tome once more. His sword became a blur of light as he sliced at the tendrils' joints. One by one, they snapped, and Elder Li was released, landing on the ground with a thud.As the dust settled, a figure emerged from behind a large crystal formation. It was a man, his body made entirely of crystal, his eyes glowing with a cold, white light. "You have passed the first trial," he said, his voice echoing like the chime of a thousand bells. "But many more await. Are you prepared to face the true nature of this realm?"Jack stood tall, his gaze unwavering. "We've come too far to turn back. Lead the way."The crystal man nodded and turned, walking towards a massive archway in the distance. As they followed, Jack couldn't shake the feeling that the trials were not just tests of their strength, but also of their resolve and unity. And with each step, the towering temple in the distance seemed to grow more imposing, its secrets waiting to be uncovered.
