The swirling purple sky overhead pulsed with an otherworldly rhythm as Jack and his companions stepped onto the crystal - stone ground. Jack and the others rushed to his aid, but the tendrils were too strong. They lashed out, knocking the group back. Lyra, however, noticed something. "Look! His sword became a blur of light as he sliced at the tendrils' joints. One by one, they snapped, and Elder Li was released, landing on the ground with a thud.​As the dust settled, a figure emerged from behind a large crystal formation.
