A Western Kid’s Journey into the Eastern Cultivation World

Chapter 118: Chapter 117 The Radiant Interference

The shockwave from Jack's spell sent Lyra skidding across the jagged cave floor, her armor scraping against the crystal shards. She coughed, blood spattering onto the ground, and struggled to lift her head. The Abyssal Warden's disintegrating form filled the air with a thick, acrid mist, making it hard to breathe. Through the haze, she could see Jack on his knees, the merged orb in his chest pulsating weakly, its glow a pale imitation of its former brilliance.

Elder Li lay motionless against the cave wall, his broken leg at an awkward angle. The Keeper was crouched beside him, her hands trembling as she tried to staunch the bleeding. Her ice magic, once a formidable defense, now only managed to form thin, brittle patches over the old man's wounds.

Elias, his eyes half - closed, let out a weak groan. "We... we did it," he mumbled, but his voice lacked conviction. As if in response, the air grew colder, and a sense of foreboding settled over the group.

From the depths of the abyss, the new, ominous presence emerged. A figure cloaked in pure darkness rose, its form shifting and writhing like a living shadow. Two burning orbs of crimson light appeared, fixing the group with a malevolent gaze. "Foolish mortals," it hissed, its voice a thousand whispers of despair. "You have only delayed the inevitable."

Lyra forced herself to her feet, gripping her dagger tightly. Her muscles protested with every movement, but she refused to show weakness. "We're not done yet," she growled, though her heart pounded with fear.

Just as the shadowy figure prepared to attack, a brilliant light filled the cave. A figure emerged from the light, clad in armor that glowed with a holy radiance. A massive sword, etched with ancient symbols, was held in one hand, and a shield emblazoned with a sun - like insignia in the other.

"Stand back, mortals," the figure boomed, its voice echoing through the cave. "I am Aelion, a warrior of the Light Realm. This darkness shall not pass."

The shadowy figure let out a roar of anger. "Another pest to deal with," it sneered. "Your light will fade, just like all the others."

Aelion charged forward, his sword ablaze with light. The shadowy figure sent tendrils of darkness to meet him, but they were consumed by the warrior's radiance. Lyra watched in awe as Aelion parried and struck with a skill and grace she had never seen before.

Jack, still recovering from the strain of the spell, forced himself to stand. He could feel the merged orb reacting to the presence of Aelion's light, a strange tug - of - war between the two forces within him. "Who are you?" he called out, his voice hoarse.

Aelion didn't take his eyes off the shadowy figure as he replied, "I am here to stop the Abyssal Eclipse, same as you. But you have no idea what you're up against."

The shadowy figure let out a laugh that sent a chill down Lyra's spine. "You think you can stop me with your pretty light?" it mocked. "I am the embodiment of darkness, and I will—"

Its words were cut off as Aelion launched a powerful attack, his sword swinging in an arc of blinding light. The shadowy figure was forced back, but it wasn't defeated. With a wave of its hand, it summoned a horde of shadow creatures from the abyss.

"Protect the weak!" Aelion shouted. "We must fight together if we hope to survive."

Lyra nodded and rushed to The Keeper's side, helping her shield Elder Li and Elias. Jack, his resolve steeled, raised his sword and joined Aelion in the fight. The cave filled with the sounds of battle, the clash of steel against shadow, and the cries of the
