A Village Appeared on My Desktop

Chapter 63

Chapter 63 – Phase (3)

‘Strong, but.’

A colossal enemy thrashing about to fulfill its duty of killing them. Yet, just like before, Riena swung her sword without hesitation this time as well.

It was certainly a stronger foe that could even fly in the sky. However, it’s not just these unknown black monsters that grow stronger with repeated combat. All the residents, including her, become stronger every single day without rest.

The soldiers, well-fed and free from hunger, overflowed with energy even while doing hard work, and warriors like her gained strength beyond their limits and grew.

“I think we won. It’s definitely dead now.”

Rakum, having dealt the finishing blow, gasped for breath and spoke. True to his words, the giant black wasp had turned to dust, leaving behind only by-products imbued with its power.

“Well done. Warriors should go and rest now. We’ll take care of the cleanup. If anything urgent arises, the deity will inform us first.”

Balun recommended that those who participated in the fight withdraw to rest and instructed the remaining members to clean up. Even if preparations are always made, unexpected attacks lead to plans being twisted.

However, the guardian deity looking after them knows their situation better than anyone. Just as Balun trusted, he indeed checked the condition reports of the residents, healing the seriously injured and leaving the resting ones undisturbed.

“Hmm, so these pieces of monsters are being bought by hunters from your world, is that right?”

“Creatures, as in the bodies of giant monsters contain mana, and they said they could be used to craft special powered equipment. However, it takes time to learn and become skilled in that crafting technique, making it impossible to create equipment from the bodies of these black monsters right away.”

“Then we can just acquire the equipment from there during that time.”

Instead of returning immediately, Riena told Balun what she had been doing right until the moment they collected the by-products.

Hearing about the hunters, Balun nodded as if he understood instantly.

If weapons capable of hitting those giant monsters could be obtained or crafted, it would help in dealing with the bugs.

“I wonder if the deity will continue taking you to that new land. You have a lot of work right now.”

“I’m fine. I can handle it.”

“It’s not good for everything to focus solely on you. If nothing can go on without you, can that still be called a tribe?”

Balun worried whether Riena, who was active in Dark Blood, would also have to take the lead in another game called Creature Hunting.

She shook her head, insisting she could handle it, but Balun wasn’t just saying that out of concern for her difficulties.

“Are we offering a ritual?”

“Things are busy, and with the attack, the atmosphere is tense, but it’s something that must be done. We should be thankful to the deity who assisted us in this victory.”

Around the time the cleanup was mostly complete, Balun announced to the people that they would offer their thanks to the sky. Originally intended to happen after they had absorbed the members of the right tribe post-victory, the multitude of tasks had delayed it until now.

No one opposed it. Surely, they all knew that the guardian deity had been with them. Despite being their enemy, the villagers, now united, had witnessed the immense hammer from the sky crushing those who rebelled and had trembled in fear.

‘It could become a tradition of our own.’

While there wasn’t no folk belief, there had never been a clearly defined object of worship like this before. Balun planned to utilize it to bond the tribe tightly together.

Conducting a ritual like this was one of those intentions. Without regard to origins or status, everyone could unite through a single faith.

“Bring in the spoils.”

Once ready, Balun began the ritual with most of the residents taking their places nervously, holding the splendid sword of practical 0, which the deity had directly bestowed, something he had once briefly attempted in the past.

It was a ceremony to express thanks for the favors received so far and to pray that the deity would continue to protect them.

*

“W-what is this?”

A sacred ceremony now performed by nearly a thousand people gathered together. This ceremony was directed toward me.

Gazing blankly at it, I was horrified to see objects popping out of the monitor through the file transfer device.

Most of the spoils offered to me were precious metals that had flowed in from outside the grassland. They were items of little need to them but were certainly helpful to me.

The issue was that, unlike the single gold ring before, a considerable amount was now pouring in. I had no time to watch what they were doing on the screen as I scrambled to gather them as they fell onto my desk and the floor.

“Ugh!”

While picking something up from the floor, I got hit on the head by the sheath of a gold dagger. The amount of spoils I had gathered in my backpack was enough to fill more than half of it.

Knowing well the circumstances of those nomads from the grasslands, I understood that these precious metals would be quite difficult for them to handle if sold.

[Achievement Unlocked: Initial Faith (2)]

I also achieved an accomplishment. Their sincere hearts towards me were recognized. While it was quite burdensome for them to earnestly believe in such a trivial person, the sheer number of people who followed me made my heart race.

‘I want to repay them.’

They performed a ritual to express their gratitude, but I wanted to return something as well.

So I thought of the second level of the document program I had activated last time.

A few days ago, I wrote words to the sky through the document program and named them. However, that program had more functions than merely that.

By inputting certain keywords, it could activate a kind of blessing, and using that program to apply this blessing was possible. If the desktop smashing was my main attack, this function was a sort of buff.

[Wind of Healing]

I invested my points earned from this achievement into unlocking one of those buff functions. According to the description, it would create a wind imbued with healing power that restores health and wounds in the area.

“—?!”

“—, —!”

It seemed to be effective. With glowing letters appearing in the sky, a refreshing breeze blew over the village. The residents gasped and looked up at the sky.

Those who had sustained minor injuries in the recent battle and had yet to be treated watched their wounds heal quickly with wide eyes.

‘Leaving everything else as it is, I’ll need to have Riena head to Creature Hunting for the time being.’

After the ritual concluded, as the dispersed residents returned to their work, I decided to end the game for today for their condition. I spotted Riena, still wearing her armor.

Some level of cycles was already established. As Riena grew accustomed to hunting and collecting by-products in the third game opened today, I thought of having her teach others to take her place later.

After all, she still had tasks remaining in other games. Extending the games was to grant various powers to more people, not just to keep rolling Riena.

‘Repairing the fallen wall, huh?’

Many who were active in reality already possessed abilities gained from the world of the game. My gaze turned to the south wall of the village, where a conflict with the bugs had just occurred.

The block wall made of cubical stones had many cracks and broken places. The transporters and the miner, Koon, having learned miner traits, were there too.

“—.”

They utilized their abilities to the fullest to repair the wall. Koon, the miner, swung his pickaxe at the damaged wall to extract stone blocks, while the transporters filled the empty spaces with new stone blocks.

In that manner, they swiftly repaired the damaged sections of the wall that spanned several dozen meters.

‘That’s cheating.’

While the warriors, learned in the skills of the game, were indeed cheating, I thought the abilities related to resource collection were also unfair.

Those abilities could be applied not only in the game world but also in reality, disregarding physical laws; it was tremendous power.

“Ha ha.”

Chuckling, I captured the village scenery in a screenshot. They, who lived in the grassland and built tents, surely had little building technology.

But as the number of transporters and miners who learned abilities from the game world continued to grow, things began to change gradually.

Initially, the barriers or watchtowers were all they constructed, but as time passed, they started using blocks of stone, wood, and such gathered from the game world to construct houses and warehouses.

Even if they were closer to crude containers or boxes rather than proper buildings, this bizarre sight of makeshift houses and square block homes coexisting was one I couldn’t ignore.

‘Should I show them that they can build in various ways?’

While my building skills were terrible, it wasn’t challenging to replicate various structures made by seasoned builders in strategy videos. It could serve as a reference for those who had never built a proper house before.

It was another task added to my plate, yet it was a happy task to work on.

‘I hope the bugs don’t launch another wave of attacks.’

While surveying the village, I started to look around other places as I turned the screen. While the residents’ activities had revealed them through scouting and conquering, there were no allies present, meaning those were neutral lands that were not recognized as allies’ territories.

Of course, the village that was conquered and destroyed when bringing the residents was the same. They had brought everything they needed for their move, so all that remained there was literally junk.

‘What’s that?’

However, there was a group of people there. I was taken aback to see red borders on their bodies.

That signaled undeniable enemies.

“—?”

“–…”

Among those on horseback, a rugged-looking man who appeared to be their leader spoke to someone. Upon being asked, the warrior answered in a fluster.

[Warrior Ksai of Garhan]

“Garhan, no way.”

The information revealed that he was a warrior sent by Garhan. The residents who had raided the tribe of the right were those following the chieftain Garhan. It made sense; they were sending out a probe to investigate the raid. If anyone had survived that battle and fled, it was certainly a fact that our information would reach them.

In a world where conquerors and raiders run rampant, the war does not end. The more we grow, the more trials we will continuously face.
