...
And then, after Kev said that...
"Long live to Cairnholm!" – said the rest of the people in the place.
"Hurrah! Anyway, I'll let you have breakfast in peace" – said Kev.
And then, he went behind the bar to continue serving beers to his regular customers.
When I looked at my toast, they almost took away my desire to eat. They were almost burned. The only good thing is that at least he had given us two knives to be able to spread the butter, so I took it, scraped off the "burned", I spread enough butter to take away that burnt taste and I ate it.
The taste... the taste was the normal taste of a toast with butter and an orange... Well, a normal orange. They were no better than the ones in the supermarket that was near our house.
However, after eating our "nutritious and healthy" breakfast, it was time for everyone to go and do whatever we wanted to do.
"Well, Jacob, see you in a while" – my father said while hanging the camera around his neck.
It was a fairly professional digital camera. He even carried a tripod with him and several lenses to be able to observe the birds up close or even if he wanted to have a sharper image. Depending on what he wanted at that moment.
"Yes, see you later" – I nodded.
Then, we both went in opposite directions since today he was not going to go exactly to the beach. I know because he was not going in that direction, so surely today he would go somewhere else. At least I hope he has a good time.
Once we said goodbye to each other, I started walking with the aim of going back to the orphanage in the hope of finding the peculiar children once and for all. Seriously, how many times do I have to go to that place to see them? I don't remember how many times Jacob had to go or how many times he had to explore the rubble of what was once a beautiful building, but I think they should have turned up by now, although... Maybe I'm mixing the books with the movie. I don't know very well...

Yes, that's literally the only thing I can do, seek and get lucky. It's literally the only thing I can do about it.
I continued walking along the same path I walked yesterday, but this time paying better attention to the "paradisiacal" landscapes of the island of Cairnholm.
Today it was cloudy just as it was yesterday. You couldn't even see a ray of sunshine in this island. Seriously, this island never had sunny day? Anyway, I don't dislike that it's cloudy. In fact, watching a movie with a snack while listening to the sound of rain is simply... wonderful. At least for me.
Looking around me better (which I couldn't do the other day because of Worm and Dirty), I could see that Cairnholm was the closest thing to a rural village you could imagine. Unpaved stone streets, small establishments such as shops, kiosks and I could even see a small pharmacy that looked nothing like those in the city. In fact, it seemed to be someone's house.
I continued observing everything until I saw a huge building similar to a church, curious and how I was not in a hurry, I approached the window and I could see several paintings and figures. Basically it was a museum and as if my word was not enough proof, there was a small sign that had the words:
CAIRNHOM MUSEUM, THE BEST PLACE IN ALL WALES
OPEN SINCE 1960.
*Note: Why can't you put fonts in webnovel? I've write this one very beautiful :(
I must admit that the font they used for the poster is quite beautiful.
With curiosity, I entered the museum.
"Wow, a visitor!" - someone suddenly said.
When I turned around I saw that it was a middle-aged man who looked like a history teacher, but he had a smile on his face and seemed quite glad to see someone there, as if no one had ever or very rarely come to visit this museum.
"Well, you can say it that" – I nodded.
"And from what I see, you're also a tourist, American?" – the man said.
"Yes, specifically from Florida" – I nodded.
*Note: If I'm wrong about something in geography, tell me, I don't want to make such stupid mistakes, thank you.
"Well, welcome, my name is Martin and I am the owner of this wonderful museum!" – Martin said with a smile.
He extended his hand to greet me, so I just gave it to him.
"Nice to meet you, but... do people really come here?" – I asked.
It's a bit of a rude question, but I swear it came from my soul.
"Well, the truth is that at first yes. But after a while, people stopped from coming and as there are practically no tourists... in fact, you are the first tourist I see in years" – said Martín.
"I see" – I nodded.
"Well, since you're here, do you want me to show you the museum? I can give you a completely free tour" – said Martín.
I looked at my phone, it was still early.
"Yes, I have some time, but in 30 minutes I have to go" – I nodded.
"Oh, have you made friends yet? A girl perhaps?" – he asked.
"No, I have to go to the old orphanage and it's quite far away, so I can't stay long" – I denied.
"The old orphanage? Excuse my rudeness, but... why do you want to go there? Literally everything is destroyed and there is nothing to see" – said Martín.
"My grandfather was an orphan who lived there for a while. So my father and I came here, to see the place where he grew up" - I said.
"And your grandfather didn't want to come?" – Martin asked.
This guy is more curious than he should be, but in the end, he doesn't hurt anyone.
"He died a few weeks ago" – I said.
"I'm sorry" - Martin said.
"Don't worry" – I said.
"Well... let's move on to more cheerful topics. Come, I'll show you all the interesting things" – said Martín.
Then, he gave me a tour of the whole museum, explaining the history of Cairnholm, the remains they had unearthed from times past, paintings painted by people who now were famous, etc. Until we reached what appeared to be a coffin... or something similar.
"And this is our main attraction, so to speak" - he said.
It was a corpse, but it was in good condition, as if it had only died a few weeks ago.
"We found it years ago. It was buried underwater, it was a coincidence that we found it. It is here because of how well preserved it is. Isn't it incredible that it is in this state even after so many years?" – Martin asked.
It was in good shape, but, yes, so he was surely a peculiar. I'm almost 100% sure he was, maybe his peculiarity was that he didn't externally age or something, no idea.
"The truth is that it is incredible. Do you know why it is in such good condition even after all these years?" – I asked curiously.
"No idea, it was not discovered why" – Martín denied.
It's intriguing, but thinking about who he was at this point no longer made sense. Besides, almost 30 minutes had passed and I had to leave now.
"It's been a pleasure, Martín. But I have to go now" – I said.
"Oh, it's a shame, but I guess it can't be helped" – Martín said somewhat embarrassed.
"Goodbye" – I said.
"Goodbye and come whenever you want, except at night, you know that after 10 o'clock there is no light" – said Martín.
After saying goodbye, I headed towards the orphanage again and arrived without any extra incident. The bad thing is that during the way it started to rain heavily.
I was almost there when the rain started and it would be wiser to go ahead and take shelter in the orphanage until the rain stopped and then go back home and that's exactly what I did.
I quickly ran to the orphanage and entered the front door without problems, broken the day before by me.
"Fuck, I'm unlucky. It could have rained when I was back or something" – I said somewhat angrily.
Although let's be honest, even if it had rained while I was in the museum, I would have kept going. There is no time to waste. I have to find the peculiar children as soon as possible and losing a day due to the rain was not an option.
That said, and since I had already explored the ground floor, I climbed the creaking stairs to the upper floor.
In fact, I was surprised that the stairs didn't break while I was climbing them because they were made of wood, which was surprising. But whether fate or not, the stairs supported my weight perfectly.
When I went upstairs I could see an image as desolate as on the previous floor. Everything was destroyed and burned due to the fire, nothing had survived, but, even so, I continued exploring the mansion, not because I was interested, but because I have to wait for the peculiar ones to come and look for me. That's the only thing I remember, Jacob was intercepted here both in the film and in the books. So I guess the exact same thing will happen to me... or at least I hope so.
I began to check the rest of the orphanage and realized that the upper floor consisted of several rooms in which the children probably slept as there were remains of bed in some of the rooms.
In one of them I could see that the room had been luxuriously adorned. But now it was all burned and destroyed.
There wasn't much else on the second floor. But then, I remembered there was a basement, so I went to check it out and found something chilling. If I didn't know that this is where Enoch made his experiments, I might have believed that organs were trafficked here. But again, I found nothing else and quickly lost interest.
Disappointed, I left the basement and decided to sit on the only bed that had survived.
"Fuck, what the hell do I have to do to find those guys?" – I asked myself somewhat angrily.
But just as I was about to complain again, footsteps were heard. It was a very subtle sound, as if they wanted to approach without me knowing, but I found out and quickly stood up.
"It's them!" – I thought.
Cheerfully but also somewhat frightened, I left the room only to find at the end of the corridor a figure. I almost screamed, but I restrained myself.
