Chapter 131: The undead invasion (1/3)
As morning light stretched across the horizon, Kael and his companions emerged from the edge of the forest.
They had quite an amount of loot this time.
Kael got a Tier-8 monster, an infernal pegasus, and secretly, primordial fire.
Mia found a bunch of elemental crystals that could be used to add an attribute to one's mana attacks, and then skill book, although it is useless, since it is necromancy on how to summon the dead.
Orin and Leiza accidentally found the armory. Although those weapons were all rusty, they were made of carbon steel anyway. With proper repair, they would be worth a lot. How they want to split it up, Shiera left it up to them.
As for Shiera herself, she found gold and jewelry in one treasure chest. She also found a skill book, the magic that can let a mage create different types of golems. She handed it to Mia as a gift, as it would be helpful to Mia, a mage. Mia was very impressed by her actions, and she firmly announced to Shiera that she would be her favorite sister-in-law. Shiera was happy that she was her favorite and sure that they had definitely become closer, but it also left a bitter taste in her mouth, as Mia said, sister-in-law.
And now, this weary party was eager to go to the town, have proper food, wine or ale, a warm bath, and perhaps a soft bed to sleep.
But what greeted them was not the comfort of civilization, but the choking stench of rot and smoke.
When they neared the town gates, they saw smoke everywhere. As they hurriedly entered, the town was in a mess of chaos. On the rooftops, they found some human mages and archers fighting against the undead.
The streets were flooded with the shambling undead, skeletal figures, and rotting corpses, clawing at doors and windows.
"Damn it…" Mia groaned, gripping her staff with exasperation. "Undead. Again?"
"All I want is a nice bath of cool water and a table filled with dishes. But we have to fight again?" Shiera also complained, hanging her down in resignation.
Kael's expression hardened by the corpses moving around, fighting the warriors.
Shiera, usually measured, stepped forward. Her voice rang out with command, "Okay, we're going in. Orin, Mia, and I will engage the undead on the ground. Kael, summon your pegasus and take to the skies. Use aerial firepower and support us from above."
Kael nodded, but a moment later, he asked. "What about the Nyx and Sith?"
Shiera glanced sideways, thinking fast. "Have them focus on crowd control unless needed otherwise. We can't have those adventures attack your monsters out of the blue instead of taking your help. But…" She turned, calling back, "Leiza!"
The agile scout perked up.
"You'll circle the town. Look for whoever is controlling these things. If you find them, do not engage. Just relay back. We strike together."
"Got it." Leiza dashed forward, then suddenly halted as Shiera sent a silent transmission through their communication scroll. Their eyes met briefly.
A beat passed. Leiza's surprised gaze shifted briefly to Kael before she gave a short, tense nod.
Then, she vanished into the shadows.
Kael stepped forward, eyes narrowing as he summoned the infernal pegasus with a sweep of his arm. The beast, recovered to its peak stage, emerged in a burst of dark flame instead of normal ones. It looked like the same Pegasus but felt more terrifying, especially to Shiera and the others.
Mounting on its back with one jump, Kael grabbed its mane. "Let's go, Ignis."
*Neigh*
It shot into the sky like a fireball.
Once reaching the enough height and the Pegasus stopped on his telepathic order, he looked down below at the scene.
From above, the full devastation came into view.
Undead swarmed like insects, turning the town into a battlefield of rot and despair. Fires burned unchecked, and the cries of survivors trapped in their homes pierced the air.
Kael inhaled, steadying himself. "Sith, come out."
The tattoo glowed at his command before the vampire flew out of his arm and floated beside him. Her eyes fell on the scene down below, and she clicked her tongue, "Master, again? When will we have a nice romantic evening, just the two of us?"
Before he even said anything, she sat down on the Pegasus' back before him, her legs placed to the side and her face so close to Kael, who jerked back in surprise.
"What are you doing, Sith?" He frowned.
The vampire replied, putting up a sad face. "I worked so hard yesterday. You didn't reward me at all and sent me straight to that prison. Now, you want me to fight again in this sunlight. I want to become one with the master, like physically, not just spiritually."
Kael looked at her blankly and said. "No, that won't happen."
"Fine, if I can't get your essence, how about a bit of blood? I can adjust to it," said the vampire.
"My blood?" Kael blinked.
"Just a bit. Not much…" Sith licked her lips as she said that.
Kael looked left and right, shutting his eyes. "Fine, but only a few drops. But once you finish this task."
Sith replied. "Then, it won't be useful to master. You see, when I ingest master's blood, my mana restriction will loosen up temporarily. The more blood I can get, the more time I can maintain my Tier-9 realm.
*Sigh* "Fine, if that's what it takes, go ahead."
"Great." Sith's face lit up.
She then grabbed him, her hands were over his neck, and she pulled down to her face. Their lips were just an inch away. Kael's lips quivered, and his entire body trembled, and his fists clenched tightly, controlling his impulse to kiss her.
Down below, not far away from his spot, Leiza was seen keeping an eye on him. This is the secret order Shiera gave to her. Just protect Kael if any unexpected ambush arrives on him.
She then saw the vampire and Kael were on the Pegasus, flying on the horse, and judging by their position, it looked like they were about to kiss. "What in the hell those two were doing in broad daylight…" Her face frowned deeply as she muttered further. "This bastard is cheating on Shiera? And that too in front of everyone? What the hell…"
Just then, instead of kissing, Sith tilted her head and bent down to his neck; instead, her fangs bit into his neck, drawing out his blood. Then, she started sucking out blood from him, her cheeks turned rose in blush as she drank and drank, making out light moans in the middle. Meanwhile, Kael's face slowly turned pale and pale until he couldn't take it anymore and pushed her away.
"Okay, that's enough, Sith."
Sith licked the blood trickling down her mouth and smiled. "Mmm… your blood is very rich and tastes so good, master." She then touched her own body as she moaned lightly as she spoke further. "I wonder how your fluid essence will taste now. O' my devil, I just want to rip our clothes right here and… aaah…" As she went into her own imaginary world once again, her hands on her cheeks and her head bobbing left and right with a smile, Kael's face turned blank, and he raised his hand.
*Bam*
