Chapter 109: Resurrection of the Monarch of Darkness (3/4)
And in the next instant, Cleo teleported from his mindscape and disappeared into Mia's body.
The moment it entered her, the spirit took control, and Mia rose to her feet. It was taken over by Cleo.
At the same time, the primordial darkness possessed Kael, leaving his grip over the celestial treasure, which found itself in the hand of Cleo-possessed Mia.
But Kael wasn't finished yet. His hands shot forward. A black dagger appeared in his hand. Dual daggers left the energy clone and materialized in his grip while the dark dagger grabbed the clone.
Kael held the daggers and swung them, the daggers unleashing a cross-shaped energy attack.
The Priest evaded the attack in time, taking a leap to the back and landing far away. The demon's heart in his hand pulsated as it was attracted to the primordial dark energy essence. His eyes darkened with growing seriousness. He was this close to succeeding and the black cat spoiled everything in an instant.
"I need to subdue him… to make him the host before the blood moon is gone," The priest mumbled under his breath, his fingers twitching, chanting under his breath, calling forth his dark magic to reinforce the seal. He attempted to suppress both Kael's body and the energy that now surged around him.
The seal activated once again, aiming at Kael as the latter charged at him.
However, contrary to his expectations, the seal just passed through Kael like a ray of light. Kael, meanwhile, closed the distance and attempted to slash his chest with the dagger. The Priest's eyes widened, his mana surged within, releasing an invisible wave of pressure and halting Kael right before he managed to pierce his chest.
But just then, a piercing pain was experienced through his body as his back was slashed. "Argh…" he groaned in pain.
The real Kael was seen behind him while the one he attempted to stop earlier slowly dissipated into nothing.
As Kael was currently possessed by primordial darkness, his body limits were pushed to the maximum, attacking the enemy at blurry speeds.
The Priest got pushed back over and over again as he couldn't find enough time to restrict Kael's movements due to the mixing of illusionary clones and afterimages. With two artifacts in his hands, the demigod focused on the defense while slowly moving away and leading Kael to another room.
Kael, whose consciousness had no role in controlling his body, just focused on killing the opponent before him. He blindly chased after the Priest without a care about his surroundings, despite how his own consciousness was fighting against primordial darkness to get back in control.
And eventually, they entered an empty chamber, filled with mystical runes drawn all over the walls.
"You can only dream of escaping, Moonstone." The priest's voice was low and venomous. He wasted no time in activating the runes.
As the runes activated, the air pulsed around Kael. Kael's body could feel incredible pressure on the body but Kael's movements didn't slow down.
Kael barely had time to react as ropes of energy were shot out from the runes from all directions at once, capturing him at once. His hands and legs were completely immobile while the daggers fell to the floor.
The Priest grinned as he walked toward Kael, who seemed like he wasn't resisting. "Once the heart is merged with yours, Our Monarch's soul will absorb your soul, you will cease to exist, and our Monarch will rise once again."
Just as he tried to push the heart into Kael. Two daggers appeared floating behind him and shot into his back, piercing deeply.
"Argh…" the Priest screamed in pain as the two daggers embedded into his back. The demon's heart almost slipped from his grasp. The Energy erupted from his body and pushed away the daggers.
The raw primordial dark energy also erupted from Kael at the same time, freeing him from the constraints. At the same time, Kael got back his control.
Stretching his arms, he coldly looked at the Priest. "Sorry for the wait. Let's continue."
"You should have let it have the control, Moonstone." The Priest activated the runes once again. The thick energy ropes once again shot at him from all sides, intending to capture him, but before they could touch, Kael pushed out his primordial darkness, forming a thick layer of energy over his body, which kept them at bay.
The Priest's eyes narrowed. "This man…"
Kael smirked. "Do you think I would let something else control my body? I was done with that a long time ago. I only let it in order to get familiar with it and use it of my own will. Moreover, it's a little dumb, using my intuition and reflexes as its foundation." He raised his hand. "Come forth, Wheel of Light."
Meanwhile, back at the ritual chamber, Kael's Energy Clone moved with deadly grace, the Ifrit dagger cutting through the air in synchrony. Jagger, the Supreme Being, raised his hands, summoning dark tendrils from the floor, trying to bind the clone. But the clone, made of Kael's essence, moved like a shadow—impossible to catch, impossible to pin down.
With a flick of his wrist, Kael's clone dispatched another mage, who had tried to intervene, the sharp dagger sinking into his throat. Jagger's fury was rising, but he couldn't land a blow on the clone. It was too fast.
"Argh… Die… you stupid sh*t…"
Jagger snarled, launching arcane projectiles in a desperate attempt to overwhelm it, but Kael's clone danced through the assault like a blade through silk, cutting down enemies with ruthless precision.
On the other hand, the black spirit cat within Mia, controlling the wheel of light, moved with eerie precision. Whatever seal is restricting Mia's mana all along was severed by Cleo. The fragmented wheel of light send waves of energy into her body, her mana working with it, and soon, her skin is started to get rosy.
With a flick of Mia's wrist, the wheel of light shot forward, slamming into one of the mages with unimaginable force, his body thrown across the room like a ragdoll.
The remaining cultists tried to close in, but Mia was unstoppable. Her frail and pale-looking figure was quite in contrast with the power she was exuding right now. She was striking swiftly, prioritizing defending or evading the attacks from those above the 6-Tier and killing the weaker ones.
One by one, the cultists fell, unable to keep up with the overwhelming power Mia now wielded.
Only a few were left in the chamber, and Mia was about to push the Wheel of Light, unleashing the skill, but then the celestial weapon suddenly glowed and flew away from her.
"Ugh… It looks like Master needs this weapon. Alright…" Cleo-possessed-Mia didn't try to take back control and instead conjured a mana sword to deal with the enemies.
Meanwhile, back in the capital city;
Inside the royal chambers, the demigod elf sat cross-legged before the spectral wolf, Nyx's glowing eyes fixated on the ground beneath its feet where a seal had been placed.
A miniature version of the same seal rested on the elf's forehead, indicating the connection. She had been in a deep trance for the past hour, her concentration was at its peak
Laura paced back and forth, her impatience increasing as time passed by.
Her hands flexed at her sides as she muttered. "How long is it going to take? It's been half a day since Kael was abducted, and we don't know what kind of situation he was in, apart from the fact that he was only alive.
Melissa patted her shoulder. "You need to calm down, Laura. Nothing will happen to Kael. According to what you have said, the Clowns of Ark needed Kael to talk Mia out of something."
Laura snapped at her, the worry clearly evident on her face. "You don't understand, Melissa. Look outside, for once. There was a blood moon. The timing of his abduction cannot be a coincidence. The ritual they prepared to do has to do with the Blood Moon. What happens when the Blood Moon is gone?"
Melissa stayed silent because she didn't want to imagine the worst scenario.
Around her, the other wives also stood in silence, their expressions filled with worry, but it was Shiera who appeared most torn—her mind clearly far from the situation at hand.
The Queen, on the other hand, maintained a calm, almost serene composure and replied to her. "Laura, the men in the Moonstone family were usually born with great fortune. Even when the worst misfortune strikes in his life, the blessings will somehow find them. Don't worry about it. Everything will be fine." She confidently said to her daughter, trying to reassure her. But, in reality, the Queen didn't believe in some weird luck myth. She was the only one here who knew that her son-in-law was in the Supreme realm, and she worked with him for so many years to know that he could take care of himself.
As if to prove her words of reassurance right, the elf's eyes snapped open at the perfect moment. Her voice was low but filled with certainty. "I have found the location."
Everyone's attention shifted to her, instantly.
Laura's heart skipped a beat. "Where?" Her breath caught as the elf rose to her feet, the air around her shimmering with energy. "Kael Moonstone is near the Harbor of Ardren. I have locked onto his location and I'm leaving right away to bring him back."
The Queen nodded solemnly, her expression still composed. She glanced at Laura and the other wives, her voice steady as she gave the order, "Go. Bring him back."
Without a word, the elf disappeared from the room.
Laura stood still for a moment, her heart racing. Her hands clenched tightly, fingers digging into her palms. "Please be on time."
