A Kitsune in remnant

Chapter 38: The ashes of the flame

POV SAKURA

As my son arrived at the protest, me and my subordinates of my generation, including my father and his subordinates, began to oversee the protest.

"So, it's started." My father commented, I only nodded at his words and began to walk away, pulling out my chakrams and spinning them.

"Let us get started, we have a job to do." He sighed in annoyance, but lifted his longsword onto his shoulder.

"Fine, I'll have my group focus on the east and west, you will focus on the north and south." His figure and the rest of his subordinates disappeared, what remained were small puddles from melted ice.

"My lady, shall we get going?" Asked one of my own, I nodded my head and had them disperse in multiple directions.

I alone remained in the same spot I was in, listening to the wind blowing. While at the same time, sniffing the air to find any new scents that I could catch.

POV GANJI

As I arrived at an empty roof, I sighed and sat on the edge of it. Taking in the view of the city called Mantle, I only had disappointment when I saw it for the first time.

The Kingdome of Atlas, it was disgusting to look at, that I had the idea to burn the floating city to the ground. Yet, I could only sigh in sadness.

The time I had ruled in the past, we had made peace between both races, not a single criminal was free, and anyone who tried to cause conflict would simply vanish.

Yet, many years in the future, seeing how the humans think they are superior is something I can't stand. If a human can't see in the dark, how can they know when an army is approaching in the middle of the night?

If they can't hear even the tiniest footsteps, how can they know when an intruder is behind them? If they can't smell as good as us, how can they know when a new scent is found?

If they don't have our instincts, how can they tell they are in danger? They have grown arrogant through technology, and have claimed to be superior.

My ears soon twitched at the faintest sound of footsteps approaching where I was, I looked down to only see some humans walking away.

They were drunk and were singing about soon being rich, it was laughable. I guess this city has some minor entertainment after all.

I soon looked to the side to see a flashing blue flame, one of my men has begun to use moras code to signal a warning.

[Ground forces, ten with melee, five with range, how to proceed?] Seeing this, I could only smile at the audacity on what they plan.

[Observe, I shall arrive soon.] Seeing my reply, they have agreed. I the stood up from the ledge and heaved my sword, fenrier.

"It seems you will dine tonight, prepare your fangs, my blade." I muttered, I took a few steps back to have a small running start.

I knelt down with my hands touching the ground, and began to shift. My hands began to shrink, claws protruding from my hands; changing into paws.

My face began to elongate into a snout, and my teeth began to change into fangs, sharp enough to tear flesh from bones.

Finally, my body began to cover itself with fur. I soon stood in the true form of a Kitsune, I had my eyes closed, letting my fur feel the wind.

"It's been a long time, and it seems I can enjoy a good hunt." I began to walk slow at first, streatching my paws.

I could feel my legs making contact, feeling the stone underneath me, a nostalgic feeling I had when I was still in my prime.

After having my warm up, I began to increase my speed, feeling the wind brush my fur, I soon ran towards the ledge.

As my back paws made contact, I pushed up with all my might, jumping over the gap of the street below me.

Once arriving, I returned to my human form and looked at the ally bellow. There were in fact fifteen at them, they stood their whispering to one another.

"My lord, what is your command?" Asked one of my solders, I didn't reply at first, only observing at the humans.

They wore little to no armor, only relying on the so called aura to protect them. Their weapons were basic, and some had those weapons call mecha shift weapons.

"They are too vulnerable, they are the very defenition of underestimating someone." I commented, seeing the so called huntsmen, my solder nodded her head.

"They have no worry for an ambush, they don't even knew they are being spied upon." I nodded at her comment and sighed.

"Keep watch, I want them to think they will win. Then, we show them what it means to be weak." I turned around and began to walk away.

I changed into my Kitsune form and made my way to where my daughter is, sending a message to all of the eighth generation on what we had found.

POV 3RD

As Ganji had left, the humans below began to split in different directions. Some climbing up onto the roof, while others walked through the barely empty streets of Mantle.

One of the humans was a woman who was in her twenties, who had light brown hair, twin braided tails that reached her back.

She wore a no sleeved leather jackets with a long sleeve shirt. Finally, she had a cigarette in her mouth.

"Out of all the spots, I got over watch." She muttered, climbing up a ladder to get a better view.

On her back, was a simple rifle with a scope, and on her pants were two daggers.

"We all need to have turns, he said. You'll appreciate learning how to shoot, he said." She then scoffed and took a long drag.

"Like that'll ever happen." She muttered and dropped the cigarette, stepping on the butt and twisting her foot.

"Still, I feel a bit bad that I have to take out a kid….." She stood in place for a second, but then shook her head and continued to walk.

"Eh, I'm over it." Before she got any further, she shivered from the cold and hugged her self.

"Damn, now I wish it was warmer." She shivered once again but sighed and pulled the rifle forward.

"Wonder why theirs five of us." She asked herself while adjusting the scope, turning the knobs on top and on the side.

(A/N: Yeah, I study guns for a hobby, sadly, these aren't our guns.)

Once she had aligned the scope correctly, she placed the rifle on the bi-pods, making sure she aimed it at the boy.

"Huh, for a Faunus, he's kinda cute. Shame." She began to take deep breaths, calming herself and ignoring the world.

Once the boy was in her sights, she placed her finger next to the trigger, waiting to press it.

At the same time, a man was also prepared with a rifle of his own. He was in a different roof, but when looking at the boy, he could only show indifference.

"The boy is so young, but it's his age won't stop me getting my pay." The third location was a small girl, no older than fifteen, tears threatened to spill from her eyes.

Her breathing was long and labored, her hands shook as she raised the rifle. She then dropped it by accident, scrambling to pick it back up.

She placed her hand on a necklace and opened it, inside was two pictures. A child with a smile as bright as the sun, innocent and naive.

While the second one was a picture of a woman who was smiling. A gentle smile, as if reassuring the girl that everything will be alright.

"I'm sorry, I don't want to do this, but I have no choice." As her tears fell, she trembled to raise the rifle, aiming at the boy.

"I know I won't be forgiven, but it's for my brother." She tried to justify herself, but deep down, she knew what she was doing will haunt her for the rest of her life.

Her heart beat was loud, thrumming in her ears. Her breathing was rapid and shallow, not regesturing her surroundings.

As for the fourth, they were located in an ally. Giggling hysterically while aiming the rifle, they smiled sadistically at seeing the boy, that they couldn't stand still.

"Oh, how the despair they'll have seeing his head pop like a ballon!" They giggled hysterically.

"Oh the tears, the dispar it will look beautiful!" They figure stood up, aiming at the boy, placing their finger on the trigger.

Finally, the last person was inside a building, diagonally from the protest. The man sat on the edge of the window, with a cigar in his mouth.

"Hmmm, the boys got potential, shame he was targeted by the client." He sighed and lowered the cigar from his mouth, releasing a large cloud of smoke.

He then lifted the rifle, slowly aiming and adjusting the scope. Once aligned, he placed his finger on the trigger, ready to pull it.

As all five of the snipers placed their fingers in the trigger, only one thought could be running through their minds.

You need to die.

All five pulled the trigger.

Nothing happened.

For the girl who was relaxed, she was confused on why no shot was heard. She looked at the barrel, only to see it crushed.

She took a while to process the information; only to realize what had happened. Her eyes widened in fear when she saw the state of the barrel, and tossed it to the side.

"What the hell…..?" She then looked around, wanting to find the person who crushed the barrel easily.

Only to be kicked to the ground, looking up she saw multiple figures around her. Staring at her with blue eyes, their figures covered in ashes.

"Who is that kid?"

The man who was indifferent raised two pistols, aiming at his sides. His breathing was short, but he remained calmed.

"C'mon, show yourselves you fuckers!" He hissed quietly, aiming his guns, when he saw one of his pistols aimed, it was fine, when he looked at the other, the condition was the same.

The second he saw the first one, he widened his eyes and tossed it onto the ground. He quickly dropped the second one seeing the state it was in.

Both pistols were dissasembled with only the grips remaining.

"What the fuck did I get myself into?" He knelt to the floor, raising his hands. He heard footsteps in front of him, and saw a figure.

For the woman who felt guilt, she dropped the rifle and began to hurl, sobbing to herself and repeating the word sorry.

She didn't realize what had happened and was too distracted wallowing in her guilt. Completely unaware the danger she is in.

"I'm sorry…. I'm sorry….. mom, Jacky, I'm sorry." She didn't even realize the people around her, she could only tremble at what she thought she had done.

A pair of arms hugged her, rubbing her hair. The girl flinched at the touch. The sound of humming was heard, a soothing tune that put even the most paranoid person at ease.

"You are a victim of the harsh system, do not worry." The girl pulled backs only to see a pair of eyes that showed kindness.

The figure in the dark was raised in the air, struggling to breath, only looking at the person that held them up with rage.

"H-how...d-dare…..you?!" The person squirmed and kicked, wanting to free themselves.

"No, how dare you? You have no right to choose when a person dies." Genji began to squeeze his hand, choking the psychotic one.

"People like you will be killed, burned to the ground." Ganji growled and tossed the person against the wall.

The man in the building sighed, noticing the dust didnt fire. Yet he remained truly calm, he lowered the rifle and placed it on the ground.

"So, I should assume it's my time?" He chuckled while puffing a large smoke cloud.

"You could say that." Said a woman, who hid her face behind a fan, the man just sighed and continued to look at the boy.

"If you want to know who the client is, good luck, he only showed up one day, and left… not telling us why he wanted the boy dead." Hearing this, the woman hummed but giggled.

"I'd assumed you would have tried to put up a fight, I'm a bit disappointed." The man shook his head, and dropped the cigar.

"I know I'd lose, so tell me, who is he?" The woman hummed at the question, but then stood up, snapping the fan shut.

"That boy…"

"The young lord…."

"My son…"

"That brat…"

"The little boy…"

"Is the flame that will burn the old age, and give birth to a new one. We are the ashes of his flame, we shall be the ones to stain our hands."

(A/N) Hey hey, I'm back and feeling better, also had an epiphany moment, like gojo, I understood something.
