Chapter 16: A cunning fox meeting a kind spartan
After a few weeks of traveling on foot, we finally arrived at Argus. We all stood on top of a hill, admiring the large walls that surrounded the city.
"Aiko, look, we made it." Said Blake, who was jumping up and down and holding my arm, her eyes were wide open, and a large smile was on her face.
At the same time, drool was dribbling down her chin. I grabbed a cloth from my bag and wiped her chin, Blake resisted at first but soon surrendered.
"Yes, I can see it, you can't just run ahead for the fish." I said and placed my hand on her head to stop her from jumping.
"He's right, you could get lost, or taken from us." Ilia added this made Blake tremble in fear and hugged me.
"You two, stop it." Sienna scolded me and Ilia, she then took a deep breath sighed and knelt to our height.
"Look, I made a promise to your father that I and Ilia would protect you, so stay close, and don't run off." Both Blake and I nodded our heads, and the two of us grabbed Sienna's hands.
"Put your hood up and hide your tails, Aiko, we don't want problems." I did as she told and the four of us began to make our way to the city.
Ilia held my hand as we walked, and soon the city was in front of us. Outside the large archway, was a long line of humans, and Faunus.
As the four of us waited for our turn, I saw two humans 'accidentally' bumping into Faunus, they apologized and quickly left.
Looking closer, I could see them snickering and tossing a small bag into the air. Seeing this happen, I cast an illusion to hide myself from summoning my family.
Once they came out, I had them sneak up to them and burn a part of their clothes. It didn't take a few minutes for a scream to be heard, and everyone turned to the source.
Two humans were panicking from the fire that was burning them and tried to role on the floor to put it out.
While that was happening, multiple bags full of lien fell out of their pockets. The Faunus, seeing the bags, began to search their own pockets, and realized they were empty.
Once they realized what happened to their money, they began to rush towards the two humans.
But before they could get their hands on them, two Atlas guards appeared and began to repel them. The Faunus were angered that the guards arrived, but soon backed off when the guards aimed their weapons.
"Back, stay back!" One of them shouted, The Faunus did as they were told, but they still shouted at the two thieves to return the money.
"They stole from us, they deserve to be in prison!" One of them shouted, but the guards kept aiming their weapons at them.
While the other guard helped the two humans up and gave them the stolen lien, seeing this everyone began to shout louder.
Before the two thieves could walk a few steps away, they burst in flames. The guards tried to help the thieves but were repelled by the flames.
After a few seconds, the flames disappeared and where they stood was a pile of ash. Sienna smiled at what happened and began to walk away, while I was distracting Blake with my tails.
"S-sir, what do we do?" Asked the guard, the other one stood their looking at the two piles in fear and grabbed the bags.
"Give them to the Faunus, I don't know what happened, but if we don't give it back, this'll happen to us." The guard was reluctant at first, but when looking at the two piles, he gave the bags to the Faunus.
'Serves them right.' I thought while distracting Blake, once we reached to the entrance of the gate we were guided to the side by a human.
"What the heck are you doing? Let us through." Sienna growled at the guard, but he just scoffed and began to talk with other humans.
'So, the closer we are to Atlas, the closer we are to the racist.' After standing a few hours, the guard then came to us and looked at our ID's.
"I'm going to need you to take off your hood, it's standard protocol." She said to us, Sienna wanted to argue with the guard, seeing how humans who whore hoods were allowed in.
But I grabbed her hand and shook my head, she composed herself before she could make a scene.
"Ok." I replied and took of my hood, Blake, Ilia, and Sienna were panicking, but when I took it off, all they saw was my hair color is black, and short.
The woman who stopped us took a good look at me, so I had to resort to use a technique every kid used.
Puppy eyes.
The guard flinched at my look, and I could see her hands trembling. I leaned a bit more forward to enhance the look, and she soon slumped down in defeat.
"E-everything seems to be in order, e-enjoy your stay." She said with a defeated voice, as soon as the four of us left, she regained her harsh cold demeanor.
"Alright, it's just one time, this isn't going to happen again." As soon as she turned around, she saw multiple children with puppy eyes.
"Fffffffffffuuuuuuu-!"
"So, where are we going to stay?" I asked Sienna, who was looking at ger scroll, she then looked up and smiled.
"Well, I have a friend who can let us stay for a few days." She said while keeping the same smile on her face.
This made me Blake and ilia confused to why she said that and wondering who she meant. We didn't have to wait long to get our answers.
"Sienna, over here!" Shouted a woman, as soon as we turned to the source. Her hair was red and was cut to her shoulders, and she wore a pair of glasses.
Her eyes are vivid green, and she wore a large winter coat. Next to her is a girl with the same hair and eye colors.
"Ivory, good to see you." Sienna said and hugged her, as the two women hugged one another, I walked up to the girl.
"Hello, my name is Aiko, this is Blake, and this is Ilia. What's your name?" The girl looked at us in a shy manner and was quiet.
"M-my n-name is P-Pyrrha." She said in a quiet voice, I smiled at her name. Before we could continue our chat, Sienna called for us.
Seeing that she was still next to the woman, made me curious on what they wanted to talk about.
"Blake, Ilia, Aiko, this is Ivory, one of the few humans I trust." Sienna said, making the three of us look at her in shock.
'One of the humans she trusts?' I thought, I basically assumed that she disliked all humans, but seeing her having a human friend made me feel like an ass.
"Oh my, they seem confused, did something happen when you were away?" Ivory asked, Sienna sighed and scratched her head.
"Well, I didn't tell anyone about you when I was back home, you know how I am." Ivory placed her hand in front of her mouth and chuckled.
"Well, you do reject every man that confesses to you." Sienna sighed at her comment and looked away.
"Enough, can we stay at your place for a few days?" Ivory nodded her head with a smile.
"Of course, my home is your home." The four of us smiled at her words and followed her to her home. On the way, I tried to have a conversation with Pyrrha, to say the least, it was hard.
"Pyrrha, what's your semblance?" She looked at the floor in embarrassment and muttered something.
"I-I don't know, I only got my aura last month." Blake then approached her and spoke to her.
"W-well, I don't know my semblance eaither, maybe we can help each other?" She asked Pyrrha, she nodded her head and smiled a bit.
I smiled at the interaction between the two, while Ilia remained stoic. After a few minutes, we arrived at a three story building, the building was made of stone and their were windows for each floor.
"Well, here it is, come in, make yourselves at home." She said while holding the door open, me and Blake made sure to wipe our feet before we entered.
We were taught to always be respectful when it came to entering another's persons home, Ivory smiled at what we did and soon closed the door.
"So, what brings you four to Argue?" She asked while bringing snacks and drinks.
"Well, these two are Aiko, and Blake Belladona, the two of them joined the white fang and want to protest." Ivory nearly stumbled at what Sienna said, and looked at us with anger.
"Sienna, that isn't funny." Sienna shook her head and sighed, Ivory placed the tray and sighed as well, but she then left the room and came back with two pairs of armor.
"I'm assuming they are stubborn, so take these, it's best to give them protection." Sienna accepted the gifts, and sat on the couch.
"Thank you, we'll put them to good use." Ivory nodded her head with a smile, and brought the tray and snacks.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, easy for us to make conversation with one another. Me and Blake were trying to help Pyrrha to find her semblance, while Ivory, Sienna and Ilia were chatting with one another.
"I've Tried many things ranging from summoning fire, controlling water, enhancing my strength, enhancing my speed, even trying to control the air, but nothing works." This made me more interesting to find out what her semblance is.
"Have you tried controlling metal?" I asked her, she nodded her head and looked down.
"What about magnets?" I asked her, this made Pyrrha look at me with an interested look.
"I-I haven't thought of that." She said, she then raised her arm towards one of the metal tray and focused.
After a few seconds, a dark aura appeared around the tray. The three of us looked at it in surprise and looked at each other, she then raised her hand up, and the tray followed her hand.
"Woah, that's so cool." Blake said with stars in her eyes, and her ears twitched in excitement.
"Polaraty, I'll call it polaraty." Pyrrha whispered, Ivory then squeezed in delight and hugged her in happiness.
This caused Pyrrha to lose concentration, letting the tray to land on the floor. Luckily, it was holding nothing, so no mess was made.
"Oh, I knew my little spartan could do it, I'm so happy for you!" Pyrrha hid her face, hiding her embarrassment.
"M-mom!" Ivory then pulled back and composed herself, she then picked up the tray and turned towards us.
"Come, come, let's head to the dining area to celebrate." She said with a smile on her face.
We all shrugged and followed her and saw multiple plates filled with food. Some of them held turkey, ham, eggs, bacon, and even pancakes.
There were even fish and salmon, making me and Blake drool at the sight. The two of us nearly rushed forward, but Sienna grabbed our collars and pulled us back.
"Slow down, you're acting disrespectful." Both me and Blake looked down in shame and bowed at Ivory.
"Sorry Miss Ivory." She smiled at our apology and giggled.
"It's fine, you can eat as much as you want." The four of us gently sat down and began to enjoy the food.
Both me and Blake moaned in delight, the taste of fish and salmon was like a heavenly meal.
The food we had on the road was bad, since it was stale and bitter. It took me a few days to get used to the taste, I ended up throwing up once in a while.
"Oh my, you really must have been starving on your way here." Ivory said, but we ignored her words and enjoyed the food.
