Chapter 1351: What Happened Teu?
Archer watched as Hemera stepped through the Gate which took her to Placidia to help out with Maevem Ashoka and Talila. Once she was gone, he turned to the window as the winter storms battered the Domain.
While standing there a pair of arms wrapped around his shoulder as Nefertiti bit into his neck. This sent a shiver down his spine as the horny succubus dragged him back to bed causing the two to start making love.
When they finished, the pink-haired beauty lay unconscious, a faint smile gracing her lips. He slipped out of bed and made his way to the bathroom, easing himself into the steaming water that enveloped him soothingly.
He leaned back, eyes drifting shut, soaking in the warmth for a while before scrubbing himself clean. Refreshed, he climbed out, dressed, and with a flicker of power, teleported to Emberport.
Archer appeared in the command center on Avidia that was connected to the port. When the surrounding Draconians spotted him they went to kneel but he stopped them. ''Continue as you were, act like I'm not here,'' he said.
They saluted before he approached a smiling Elara who was looking over a massive map with models representing cities, towns, and forts along with other stuff that was of importance to the empire.
''Hello husband,'' she greeted him. ''I came over here to help out with security, reports speak of monster attacks increasing across our new lands.''
When Archer heard this his eyes narrowed while taking in the map and started moving the models around until a chain of castles was connected by forts along with watch towers and smaller fortresses.
He extended a claw and traced a road that wound through every corner of his freshly claimed territory. The design encompassed the towering walls protecting their borders and the network of fortresses bolstering their defenses.
''Get the legions to build this road first,'' Archer said with a knowing smile. ''This will help them transport construction materials all over southern Avidia.''
Elara was shocked as she went over the road and realized it was the most efficient way to construct everything. The redhead shook her head before commenting. ''This is amazing, the watchtowers and rest stops will allow us to host even more traders from the Moonriver and Coya Empires.''
''They've started appearing already?'' he questioned in surprise.
The young woman nodded with a giggle. ''Yes. I believe the fire elves are giving them issues but one of their princesses convinced the empress to trade with us during winter along with the Goldenmane traders.''
Archer's eyes sparkled when hearing their explanation and nodded. ''Lower the twenty percent Merchant Tax to ten, that will earn us even more gold and attract the remaining Avidian traders.''
Elara looked shocked as one of her commanders who was a young woman inquired. ''Wouldn't we lose out on half? It doesn't make sense my king.''
He chuckled at the question before replying with one of his own. ''Let me explain it in a way everyone can understand.''
Archer lifted his hand, conjuring a mana shell with effortless control, startling those around him. He set it gently on the table and pressed on. 'Take this, for instance. Crafting it costs ten gold. Merchant companies then haul it to us, tacking on another thirty for transport. By the time it arrives, we slap on twenty more, driving the price even higher.''
He glanced at the group, who nodded in agreement, before continuing. ''But if we secure our new territory with roads and forts, those extra costs vanish. Merchants will flood in with more goods, and we'll all reap the benefits.''
Elara looked interested as she spoke. ''If more trading happens it will bring in more income with the ten percent merchant tax which will be nothing if there isn't a need for caravan guards like back on Draconia.''
Archer's smile widened. ''Exactly, plus all the people will spend money in the rest stops and other places which will benefit the empire,'' he explained.
As the group of commanders listened, they nodded in approval. Once he saw that, he directed them to assemble two cohorts to start work on the roads so they could build the places they would be calling home for a while.
After they dispersed, Elara let out a playful giggle, teasing. ''Look how eager they are now, all fired up for nothing in return. They're the ones who'll be sweating it out!''
''This is new to them, the 1st has been around for a long time but to be at the center of a new continent's construction would excite any legions,'' he revealed with a chuckle.
The dragonkin woman smiled before grabbing his hand and dragging him toward her room which wasn't far away. While walking through the fortress he noticed the morning sun shining down onto the city where people were going about their business.
''How's the fire elves citizens? Have they started complaining yet?'' Archer suddenly asked.
When Elara heard his question she shook her head before answering as the duo entered her bedroom. ''No, it seems like they love all the benefits that come with being part of the Draconia Empire, the City Lord promised each citizen a brand new apartment with low rents which excited them.''
Archer was surprised and questioned. ''Do they hate me or the soldiers? We did invade their lands and kicked out the empress's forces?''
''At first, they were wary but when elders realized we weren't raping their women or looting their homes they made contact,'' she replied while taking out a canteen and drinking a mouthful of cold water thanks to having a dry mouth.
Once Elara felt better, she picked up the conversation again. ''When we sat down with the elders and laid out our plan, showing them our low taxes, they were thrilled. With us building schools and other services, especially since over thirty percent of their youth can't read or write, it's going to make a real difference for them.''
Archer nodded while summoning two chests from his Item Box. ''Take this and use it to boost the construction or fund anything you need,'' he said with a charming smile.
She looked shocked but quickly stored them in her ring before they started kissing which turned into passionate sex. By the time the couple were done, Elara was out cold with an exhausted smile.
While he relaxed Teuila's cheerful exotic voice echoed in his mind. 'My love, do you want to explore Placidia with me? Some of the girls needs some plants from there and asked me to go for them.'
Archer chuckled before putting on clothes and teleporting to her using the dragon tattoo only to appear in front of the green sea. He spotted the blue-haired beauty standing over the corpse of a dinosaur.
She flicked her blades while turning around with a warm smile. ''I know you'd come, Hemi said there are some monsters you wanted to capture and I want to find any water sources to explore because Llyniel and Nefertiti asked me to look for rare plants.''
Following that, the duo stepped into the jungle only for the humid air to hit them prompting Archer to complain. ''Even though it's winter this place is hot as ever.''
As the words left his lips he felt extremely cold water splash against his face which shocked him but Teuila's giggling caught his attention. He quickly appeared behind the warrior woman and slapped her behind.
She yelped but smiled at him. ''At least you're cool now, this place is horrible for races that need water, luckily I can use water magic so I'm fine.''
Without speaking Archer cast Cosmic Shield around them before using wind magic to cool them down just as he spoke. ''Well this will help for a while but let's go find those monsters, there might be some strong ones.''
Teuila agreed and the two of them continued through the wild Placidia jungles and killed anything that tried to attack. He let the young woman take out most things unless a stronger creature appeared.
By the time the couple reached the first lake Teuila's blue eyes as she glanced at him. ''Stay here handsome. I'm going to look for the plants,'' she said.
Following that, the blue-haired beauty jumped into the water and vanished causing Archer to scan it but nothing came through thanks to something blocking his magic which caught his attention.
'Interesting,' he thought with a growing smile. 'Something powerful is lurking on the continent but it doesn't want to fight yet.'
While daydreaming an explosion erupted as Teuila flew out of the water like water forcing him to summon her using the tattoo. Archer sighed in relief as he asked. ''What happened Teu?''
The young woman stood up on shaky legs, her chest heaved before replying. ''There's an SS rank in there and it caught me off guard as I passed over it.''
When Archer heard this he nodded and scooped her into a princess carry prompting her to ask as they walked toward the water. ''What are you doing now?''
